For 25 years, Fast & Furious has owned the big screen. Now Vin Diesel is taking the family to streaming, as Peacock gears up to launch a high-octane live-action series set in the Fast universe.
On Monday, during the Peacock Upfront presentation, NBCUniversal confirmed the development of a live-action series set in Universal’s Fast & Furious universe, an announcement made by franchise star and producer Vin Diesel.
Diesel will executive-produce the primary series adaptation. The pilot will be written by Mike Daniels — who just received a series order for his new take on another classic NBCUniversal property, The Rockford Files — along with Wolfe Coleman. Daniels and Coleman previously worked together on the NBC crime drama Shades of Blue.
Story details for the new Fast & Furious series are still being kept under wraps.
The news arrives as the Fast & Furious movie franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special screening of the original film at the Cannes Film Festival. Across eleven films, the saga has earned more than $7 billion at the worldwide box office. The final big-screen chapter, Fast Forever, is currently slated for release on March 17, 2028.
