Just when you think Lucky has shown all its cards, Episode 4 reshuffles the deck. Long-buried secrets come to light, loyalties are tested, and a pulse-pounding chase proves that no one is safe as the walls continue to close in on Lucky.
"Too Close to See It," slows things down just enough to finally explain Cary's motivations while delivering one of the series' biggest action sequences. Although some of the episode's major twists are a little predictable, the emotional weight, thrilling car chase, and continued standout performance from Anya Taylor-Joy keep the momentum going.
Much of the hour fills in the blanks surrounding Cary's betrayal, revealing that his decision to leave Lucky behind wasn't simply about greed but also the complicated influence of his mother, Priscilla. The flashbacks also expand Lucky's history with FBI agent Billie Rand, adding another layer to the web of lies, shifting alliances, and broken promises that has driven the story from the beginning.
Once Lucky and Cary finally come face-to-face, years of secrets and mistrust explode into an emotional confrontation before the series shifts into one of its most exciting action scenes yet. The ensuing chase is fast, tense, and expertly staged as the FBI and Priscilla's crew close in from every direction.
While Cary's fate isn't entirely surprising, it's still an emotional moment that underscores the tragic consequences of every bad decision made throughout the season. By the end of the episode, Lucky once again finds herself alone, hunted from every angle, and with the odds stacked firmly against her.
Anya Taylor-Joy continues to shine, effortlessly balancing vulnerability, wit, and survival instincts, making Lucky one of the summer's most entertaining thriller protagonists. Even when the plot becomes a bit predictable, her performance keeps every moment engaging.
With the stakes higher than ever heading into the second half of the season, Lucky continues to prove it's one of Apple's most entertaining summer thrillers.
