A Man on the Inside is about to take on one final case.
Netflix announced that the Ted Danson comedy will end with Season 3, which has officially begun production in San Francisco. The final season will give Charles Nieuwendyk one more mystery to solve after the retired professor unexpectedly found a new sense of purpose by becoming an undercover investigator.
Series creator Michael Schur said the final chapter will bring Charles' journey to a close, praising Danson as a “National Treasure” and describing the series as a story about how life can become bigger when you take a chance on something new.
Season 3 will introduce several new guest stars, including Bernadette Peters, Nick Offerman, and Emmy winner Stephen Root. Peters will play Coco Van Beck, a San Francisco socialite who hires Charles to investigate someone sabotaging her philanthropic work. Offerman plays Coco's employee Jack Spencer, while Root plays Charles' estranged brother, Dave.
Annette O'Toole, Christopher McDonald, Diedrich Bader, Rachel Dratch, and Jessica St. Clair are also joining the cast.
Returning stars include Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, Eugene Cordero, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sally Struthers, and Mary Steenburgen.
Netflix has not announced a release date yet.
