A disastrous dinner party, a suspected werewolf, and a broken magical relic make Halloween anything but ordinary for Eternally Yours' residents.
Halloween brings supernatural mischief to Eternally Yours, but this week’s biggest scares come from an awkward dinner party and a missing artifact. “Halloween” is a fun episode that reveals how difficult Charles can be while sending Emma, Jesse, and Max on an amusing werewolf hunt.
The trouble begins when Liz invites her colleague Glen and his wife, Susan, over for Halloween drinks. Liz hopes to secure a permanent professorship, making a good impression especially important. Unfortunately, Charles is unimpressed when the couple arrives in cheesy vampire costumes. The evening worsens when Glen shares questionable historical theories about the Prussians, prompting Charles to unleash 500 years of frustration and embarrass their guests.
Charles’s inability to tolerate the couple provides some of the episode’s funniest moments. His arrogance and compulsion to correct others generate effective comedy, but a meaningful story lies beneath the surface. Once Charles understands how much this opportunity means to Liz, he puts his ego aside. He transforms into a bat, chases down the couple, and salvages the evening by pretending to agree with Glen. The gesture shows that he genuinely cares about Liz’s happiness, even if he expresses it strangely.
Meanwhile, Max accidentally uses the Wolf’s Bane Chalice, an ancient relic that protects the coven from werewolves, as a candy bowl. He loses track of it, leaving Emma, Jesse, and Max scrambling to recover it.
The timing could not be worse. Mort is preparing for his first date with Mackenzie, who is dressed as a werewolf. Emma, Jesse, and Max quickly suspect she might be real, so they interrupt the date to test their theory.
The storyline delivers some of the episode’s lighter comedy. The trio grows increasingly convinced that Mackenzie is hiding something supernatural, even as their investigation becomes more awkward than persuasive. The eventual revelation that she is completely human gives Mackenzie the perfect opportunity to get the last laugh with a brutally funny text message roasting all three investigators.
The chalice, however, is not finished causing trouble. Just when everyone believes the danger has passed, Phyllis discovers the relic in the dishwasher the following morning. Unfortunately, it isn't dishwasher-safe, and the ancient object breaks in half. The final gag transforms a harmless Halloween mistake into a potentially serious problem for the coven.
“Halloween” is a solid episode that uses its supernatural setting without overdoing it. Charles’s dinner party stands out, offering hilarious moments while showing his affection for Liz. The werewolf investigation adds seasonal fun, though its jokes don't always land.
The writing remains enjoyable; the character interactions are the show’s greatest strength, and the broken chalice creates a twist with future consequences. With a 7.5/10 score, this is a Halloween outing, even if it is not among the series’ most memorable episodes.
