The Anna Vorpe saga ends in “White Rock,” as OA and the FBI team uncover who has protected the corrupt former agent for the past four years—and why. It’s a solid, action-packed episode that resolves OA’s undercover mission while setting up an intriguing personal journey for the rest of the season.
The episode’s most compelling element is OA’s struggle to reconcile his actions with what the FBI shield represents. After spending so much time undercover and making difficult choices to preserve his cover, he must confront how far he can go for the job without losing sight of the principles that brought him to the Bureau. The experience has clearly left its mark, and it will be interesting to see whether his doubts change how he approaches his work and his partnership with Maggie.
The operation to expose Anna’s powerful backer keeps the tension high. OA takes increasingly dangerous risks to force the truth into the open, including staging an explosion to provoke a revealing phone call. His cover story about being a prisoner of war in Afghanistan adds another layer to the deception, as he uses a deeply personal part of his past to maintain Anna’s trust. When his cover is blown and Anna’s henchman, Devon, takes him in, OA relies on his training and instincts to survive. His decision to disarm and arrest Devon, rather than resort to lethal force, is especially satisfying and shows his growth.
Meanwhile, Maggie, Jubal, Scola, and Ramos uncover the cold case that gives Anna leverage over her influential protector. The murder of a 16-year-old girl provides the missing piece the team needs to complete its unsanctioned operation. With Anna’s protection gone, OA can arrest his former boss and finally close this chapter.
Claire Coffee also deserves recognition for her performance as Anna Vorpe. She brings authority, calculation, and menace to a character who has remained untouchable for far too long, making a strong impression in the role.
Overall, “White Rock” is a satisfying installment of FBI, combining tense action, meaningful character development, and a fitting conclusion to the Anna Vorpe saga. OA’s unresolved doubts give the remainder of the season an intriguing direction, while the writing and performances bring this storyline to a compelling close. Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.
