ABC 2022 Fall Schedule: Abbott Elementary, Big Sky Moves And More Bachelor In Paradise

 On Tuesday, ABC was the latest broadcast network to release its 2022 Fall TV schedule (after NBC). So what to expect? Several series will be on the move, less comedy and more.

ABC will be downsizing its comedy from two nights (Tuesday and Wednesday) to one night (Wednesday). The red-shot Abbott Elementary will be on the move from Tuesday to Wednesday at the 9 pm timeslot. The Conners, which had that previous timeslot, will kick off the night at 8pm, where it will lead into The Goldbergs. And the new Hilary Swank drama series will take over the post-Grey's timeslot on Thursdays at 10, moving Big Sky to Wednesdays at 10pm.

The summertime staple Bachelor In Paradise will be getting a regular season upgrade, airing both on Mondays (replacing DWTS) and Tuesdays from 8-10pm. A Million Little Things, which could be looking into its final season, will be held until midseason along with the sophomore comedy The Wonders Years and the new Gina Rodriguez comedy, Not Dead Yet.

And expect a new weekly celebrity edition of Jeopardy! will be paired with Celebrity Wheel of Fortune on Sunday night.

Like NBC, ABC has made some slight changes. The network's Wednesday and Thursday nights look solid programming-wise. Alaska looks interesting to see, as it has that Big Sky mystery vibes. And while it looks funny from the 15-second teaser, I might have to catch Not Dead Yet when it premieres.

The Fall Television Season is Finally Here

 

With the weather changing, football back, and daylight shortening up, that could only mean one thing: the fall television season is back! Yes, it's that time of the season when new and return shows give us what we love: to laugh, love, cry, and be thrilled. 

With the Primetime Emmy Awards airing last night, today is the most exciting week for me as Premiere Week is like Christmas, and the Super Bowl all wrapped up in one week. We've been waiting all summer for this week to come, and now it's finally here!

Returning shows like One Chicago or FBI series, The Conners, or not to mention Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy, gives us that our shows are back. With an exciting new season full of drama and excitement with our favorite characters and what will happen to them this new season. 

Plus, the season premieres of our returning shows are either having an epic crossover event (FBI series, Station 19-Grey's Anatomy) or picking up with the cliffhangers that we're left at the end of last season (Chicago Fire and Chicago PD).

And let us not leave out the new shows like NCIS: Hawaii, Ghost, and The Big Leap. American Rust and LA BREA, to name a few, are trying to become the next new hit. Some of these new shows look exciting to tune in and see where they would go. 

While last season didn't start every day, it feels good to return to normalcy, knowing that we get to see our favorite characters back and escape for a half-hour to an hour from the madness in our daily lives. Here's to having a great fall season and premiere week because as soon as fall hits, winter is just around the corner.

ABC Midseason Schedule: Greys-Station19 Returns; A Million Little Things Moves

 

ABC will be making some midseason moves. 

On Monday, ABC announced their midseason news from Krista Vernoff's new series Rebel taking over A Million Little Things out of its Thursday timeslot beginning April 8th. A Million Little Things will be moving to Wednesdays at 10pm beginning April 7. 

The sibling themed sitcom Hone Economics starring Topher Grace will premiere Wednesdays at 8:30pm on April 7th, while the eight-episode Rebel Wilson hosted dog competition series Pooch Perfect will take over Tuesdays at 8pm beginning March 30th.

As for Grey's-Station 19 fans, they're set to return from winter hiatus on Thursday, March 11th.

The future of Sullivan's career hangs in the balance as his disciplinary hearing gets underway, and Ben, Dr. Richard Webber, Emmett Dixon, and former Fire Chief Dixon are called to testify. Meanwhile, the crew investigates an electrical fire at a neglected apartment building that serves as the home and performance space for some of Seattle's most prominent drag queens.

In the season premiere, when the COVID-19 pandemic hits Seattle, the Station1 9 crew leans on each other for support. Andy tries to make sense of her mother's return, while Sullivan settles into a new routine. And it's all-hands-on-deck when a group of teenagers unintentionally starts a wildfire.

It looks like it's going to be one hell of a season premiere with on top of that being a crossover event with Grey's Anatomy. After watching all three seasons this summer, I'm looking forward to seeing where the season will take off with Andy and her mother. Will Dean come to tell Vic that he has feelings for her? And what about Sullivan and Andy?  Where their relationship is at after she wasn't there after his surgery and suffered from severe pain?

Station 19-Grey's Anatomy Promo

On Thursday, ABC released a new teaser promo for the new season of Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy. 

In the promo, while we see clips from the new season of Grey's dealing with the COVID pandemic, they also got a chance to thank the women and men who really put their lives on the line during the pandemic with photos. 

It's pretty overwhelming.

How Chicago Med and More Dealing with COVID Pandemic

Entertainment Weekly has done a feature of how the medical dramas will be doing to addressing the COVID-19 pandemic this upcoming season. Here's a look!

Chicago Med

With Chicago Med in production and Fire and PD soon to be in production, executive producer Dick Wolf confirms to EW that the pandemic will be shown affecting the emergency workers in the Windy City. 

"As out Chicago shows return, of course, the COIVD pandemic will be reflected," says Wolf. "On Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D., there will be references to the pandemic but they will be more subtle. For example, fewer civilians in the bullpen in Chicago Fire. But Chicago Med will address the pandemic head-on. There will be a COVID unit in the hospital, incoming patients will be tested by paramedics, and one character will be recovering from the disease. IT will be part of daily life, and adjustments will be made."

Chicago Med, Fire, and PD are set to premiere on Wednesday, Nov. 11 on NBC.

Grey's Anatomy

When season 17 premieres, don't expect Grey's to imply devote and episode, or even one of its incredible two-parters, to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

"I think we all hope when the world shut down that it would be for an episode or maybe a two-parter," said showrunner Krista Vernoff. "But here we are six months later, still not allowed to hug our parents. So (the pandemic is) engrained into the season. Specifically, season 17 will feature two timelines, one picking up right after the events of the finale and one taking place a couple weeks into COVID."

Season 17 of Grey's Anatomy kicks off with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 9/8c on ABC.

Station 19

When Andy and the rest of the Station 19 squad returns for season four, they'll have a lot to unpack that extends even beyond the dramatic season three finale. Also, with the show in the same universe as Grey's, expect the pandemic to enter into their world too.

"Yes. Those shows are on the same timeline, they exist in the same universe, they're three blocks apart in Seattle," confirmed Vernoff. "The pandemic exists on Station 19 as well, but it looks and feels different on Station 19 because it's not a hospital so the protocols are different and everyone doesn't have to be in masks and PPE all the time. It's a little different." 

I just can't wait to see how these shows will address and how the characters will be reacting to the pandemic. I know it's going to affect the hospital shows over the emergencies shows in away. Maybe one of the characters deals with the illness and we can see what it's like and maybe learn to take this pandemic seriously.

ABC Release Premiere Dates on Returning Fall Shows

It looks like ABC has the doctors seeing you this November.

On Thursday, ABC has now lifted the curtain on its later fall plan which includes the launches of the new seasons of Grey's Anatomy, The Good Doctor, Station 19, and other returning dramas.

The Rookie will premiere at a later in the season. Stumptown, which was renewed for the second season, got canceled this week.

"Ou fall schedule is now complete with a dynamic lineup o new and returning drama series," ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said in a statement. "From an-favorite shows like Grey's Anatomy and The Good Doctor to David E.Kelly's thrilling new drama Big Sky, our strength is in our storytelling, and we could not be more energized to bring these compelling series to our viewers."

Big Sky is the only ABC new drama for the fall, a thriller n which private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt )Kylie Bunbury and Ryan Phillippe) join forces with his ex-cop strange wife, Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick), to search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. But when they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.

Heart and Soul: Station 19 Season 1 Review

This summer, I had the chance to catch several shows I'd missed out on. One of them happens to be ABC's Station 19, the spinoff to Grey's Anatomy. Here are my thoughts on the first season.

ABC Launches Fall Season with Reality Programs

Looks like ABC is filling in their fall slate with unscripted programming.

Looks like ABC is taking their scripted programs and pushing them to late fall and placing them with a heavily asterisked dose of the new season of unscripted shows that include The Bachelorette, Dancing With the Stars, and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire along with the rebooted Supermarket Sweep hosted by Leslie Jones.

"We're fortunate to have such a strong unscripted slate to launce our first wave of programming this fall," ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said in a statement. "Presenting the new Supermarket Sweep with Leslie Jones alongside fresh, original episodes of returning shows that viewers have come to know and love is invigorating. And with our scripted series ramping up production, we look forward to announcing more premiere dates very soon."

It's just like what CBS had announced on Wednesday but I think that ABC will come out of this better than CBS. Due to the fact that not only with their original and unscripted programs but with the NBA playoffs the network looks to be in better shape until their scripted shows like Grey's Anatomy and black-ish.

My 2020 Summer Watch-list

With fall just around the corner, I thought I would share my summer watchlist of shows I've watched these past five months. Here we go!

Station 19 Season 1 (ABC)

I will go into more detail in another post, but I finally had the chance to watch the first season of Station 19, the third spinoff of Grey's Anatomy. I was hesitant to watch this series from the start, but after watching the first season, I thought it was good but not great.

The one thing that kept me watching was the characters, while some of the stories felt a bit overly dramatic. The one thing I didn't like was just before the end of the scene; flashforward scenes of what was coming next ruined some of the surprising moments for me. Jaina Lee Ortiz (playing Andy Herrera) was excellent in this series (so far). I'm considering watching season two, as I give season one a 7/10.

Hunter Season 1 (Peacock Streaming Service)

This summer, I got to watch the new Peacock Streaming Service, and there have been a few new series I've got a chance to watch and a classic. One is the 80's cop series Hunter, starring Fred Dryer.

Dryer plays Hunter, a cop who goes with his instincts rather than what his boss wants him to do. It's the Los Angeles of Miami Vice, with Dryer co-starring with Stephanie Kramer as Dee Dee McCall. The first season was so filled with action, drama, and gritty scenes at times that I was all in for the next two days watching this series. I give this series an 8.5/10.

The Capture Season 1 (Peacock Streaming Service, BBC One)

I've already written my thoughts on this series, but I want to discuss it again. The Capture is another Peacock Streaming Service original, also a BBC series, that won me over in storytelling, characters, and the performance from Callum Turner, who steals the show. This series leaves you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end of the last episode and asks, "Did he deserve it?" 9.5/10.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Netflix)

I must thank my brothers for getting me to watch this series from beginning to end. My brother grew up and loves Avatar the Last Airbender, so when Netflix finally gets to stream the complete series, he called me to sit and watch it.

I finished watching that series in four days, with season two done in one day. I loved it, loved it, loved it! The show has dark adult themes for a kid's series that aired on Nickelodeon. While Aang might be the popular character, I'm a fan of Katara, Toph, and Uncle, and I think water bending is the coolest bending in the Avatar world.  10/10.

Quarantine Quitchen (YouTube)

Since the pandemic of COVID-19 was hitting the United States, YouTube has had a lot of shows to distract from the overwhelming news coverage. There was one show that helped me through the stresses, and that was Quarantine Quitchen. 

It is hosted by Alton Brown and his wife, Elizabeth, as it's just a night with the Browns, including their dogs, while they cook up something on the spot. And yes, there will be cocktails to make as well. It's fun entertaining, and you learn to cook something, even a cocktail. 9/10.

America's Got Talent (NBC)

The show that I can rely on the most this year is America's Got Talent, for a lot of things. This hasn't been the best summer or year, no matter what's been going on, but America's Got Talent gives us hope and inspiration that in the darkness, there's always a light at the end, and it's been proven to be what this season has shown.

This season has been one of the strangest performances at home or on stage that have been taped; it has gone so well than I could have expected. And Simon Cowell's absence is missing after his accident, but the fill-in judges from Kelly Clarkson and Kenan Thompson have been excellent. Who will win? It's too early to call, but I expect it will be magical and extraordinary. 9/10.
