Doctor Who & Weekend Catch Up Part 10

Doctor Who "Before the Flood"

In the second part of this two-part story, the Doctor travels back to the 1980s during the Cold War to see where the spaceship is and who has landed. It only took two crew members and left Clara and the others behind due to the security doors.

This episode occurred before the previous episode, as the Doctor explains in the beginning, and again at the end. This is called the "bootstrap paradox," a time loop. We've seen it in other shows and films. But he mentions only Beethoven, who wasn't a natural person until he, the Doctor, gave sheets of music to a man who called himself Ludwig Beethoven. That was a fun part of the episode. It was beautifully well-performed and made.

The Doctor had to battle with the Fisher King, the one trying to get from that point in time, 2199. Killing O'Donnell, the King faces the Doctor, who looks scared when looking up at the King. But so on, the Doctor talked and told him a lie about the ship, for which the King went back to and realized that the Doctor lied to him. Along with the dam being destroyed.

As Clara, Cass, and Lunn try to stay alive from the ghost, they come to the white box in the control room. It opened up and out popped the Doctor along with his sonic sunglasses.

I have to say that this was a very, very interesting episode. I had to watch it twice to keep understanding it, but it was a lot better watching it the second time. The time loop did get me at first. That was until I put it together from the first scene of the episode to the last scene of the episode. It is brilliantly done and probably one of its best and brightest episodes.

Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

You can catch Doctor Who on Saturday nights at 9/8c on BBC America.

Arrow "Green Arrow"

(WARNING: I HAVE NOT SEEN SEASON 3 BUT WILL THIS WEEK; THIS IS ALL FROM WATCHING SEASONS ONE & TWO AND THIS WEEK'S SEASON 4 PREMIERE).

For how long are we going to keep seeing Oliver leave and come back?

I get it that fighting bad guys, saving the city, and protecting the ones that you love is all a huge risk when being a hero, but watching it after every season does get tiresome at times. I think that after this season, it will show that maybe he'll stay as the hero for a long time.

Oliver seems to enjoy the retired superhero life with Felicity in a nice neighborhood. Diggle, Laurel, and Speedy are carrying on the Arrow's name while trying to stop a group of guys known as Ghost.

It wasn't until Speedy and Laurel thought Oliver should return that Diggle believed otherwise. He's still upset about what Oliver did to him last season. They ask Oliver for help right when he is about to ask Felicity for her hand in marriage.

Well, Oliver and even Felicity agreed to help. Hell, Felicity has been helping them for a while, and it quite upset Oliver.

It seems like there's a new villain in the city, and his name is Damion Darhk, who has a very supernatural ability; not only freaking Speedy and Black Canary out but also me as well with his sucking the life out of one of his men.

And did you watch Arrow and Darhk's fight that looked like Bane vs. Batman when you seemed to lose your touch in fighting? But the shocker is that Laurel's dad works for Darhk, so that doesn't seem to go down well.

At the end of the episode, we jump to six months, seeing Oliver at a cemetery looking at someone's grave, and along comes The Flash. We never did get a look at it, but my guess is it would be either Felicity or Quentin Lance. At this time in Oliver's life, maybe Felicity should get killed. Hell, I want to see Oliver and Laurel back together. I still think that they are meant to be.

I enjoyed this episode. There were a few things that just got boring from Oliver enjoying his happy, non-superhero life and coming back to become the hero again. But he's Oliver Queen and not Bruce Wayne.

Overall, I give this episode an 8/10

You can catch Arrow on Wednesday nights at 8/7c on The CW.

The X-Files at New York Comic-Con

Well, it's definitely official, The X-Files are reopened  and Mulder and Scully are not together and the Lone Gunmen are alive.

Three months til it's premiere in January, there was an advanced screening of the premiere episode of the most anticipated Fox revival series as it made it's nationwide debut Saturday at New York Comic-Con.

The first episode titled "My Struggle," introduces texting to the series, not to mention Joel McHale as the conservative conspiracy theorist Tad O'Malley and it hits on several current hot-button political issues, from which creator Chris Carter said that it was intentional.

Carter, along with David Duchovny and Mitch Pileggi attended the East Coast version of Comic Con and talked about the upcoming six-episode limited series that premieres Jan. 24.

"It's a perfect time to be telling 'X-Files' stories," said Carter. That's why I was excited about doing it (again). We knew we needed to make a statement and be bold."

Carter says that the show is back because of Duchovny.

"David was interested in doing the show," Carter says. "I said, 'If David is interested, I am too."

Carter also discussed the Mulder and Scully status.

"I was going under a bridge and on the bridge above us it said, 'Life has many bumps in the road,'" Carter said. "I think Mulder and Scully hit one of those."

As for the returning of the 13 year hiatus break, Duchovny said that "it just felt right" to come back to the show about FBI sleuths investigating instances of paranormal activity. In the years since the show ened, Duchovny was on the dark comedy Showtime series "Californication," and is on the NBC period drama "Aquarius."

The panelists wouldn't say anything on a possible 11th season, Duchovny told Carter: "You've got my number."

But Carter did disclose that the reboot would consist of four standalones and two mythology episodes.

But while Gillian Anderson wasn't there, she did make a quick cameo  via video saying, "I hope you love it!"

The X-Files was on the air for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002, made two feature films.

Season 10 will debut in a special two night event beginning on Sunday, Jan. 24th, following the NFC Championship Game, for which will grab a lot of viewers. And will continue the following night on it's regular Monday at 8/7c.

Undateable "A Will They Walks into a Bar"/"A Won't They Walks Into a Bar" Season Premiere LIVE

The new season of Undateable premiere tonight anything can happen because well, it's freakin LIVE.

The series did a Live show last season and it was such a huge hit that NBC thought it would do well by doing an entire season live. I for one love the idea. I believe that this show can sustain.

Just to let you know that this recap is based on the airing of the East Coast.

Well, in the season premiere Candace and Justin are about to become a couple. Everyone else in the group seems to have someone expect for Danny, who makes a mock and gets Candace thinking that her and Justin shouldn't really be a couple.  The reason why is that Danny doesn't have anyone to be with.

There's a ton of breakout moments from the introduction of the cast in the studio audience, the calling of Danny's cell phone after Justin read out load the real number, the truth battles, the fight/kiss of Bianca Kajilich and Scott Foley.

But Danny comes and chewbacca to Justin of what he's done. Danny comes around and gets Justin and Candace back and now they are together a couple.

Overall, I give this episode 10/10.  You don't know what's going to happen. The story is written but there are some improv that I enjoy so much from the cast.

You can catch Undateable LIVE Friday nights at 8/7c on NBC.

The Ultimate Postseason Matchup: Chicago Cubs-St. Louis Cardinals Postseason Game

If you thought that the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers battling it out in the postseason was the match up to see, think again when it comes down to these two teams.

Tonight's the night that I've been waiting for and part of me isn't waiting for, I'm talking about the National League Divisional Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs.

This is literally the World Series of the MLB National League Central. One the best team this year up against the best young team.

I can't tell you how much I'm so nervous but excited about this match up. It can go either way no matter how you solve the puzzle of this match up.

This shouldn't be the NLDS this should be the National League Championship Series. Sorry Mets/Dodgers fans, but this match up will have more television viewers than yours.

Ever since the second of half the season, the Cubs have gotten the Cardinals number and taken at least half of the games series that goes back and forth.

I'll admit that I'm a Cubs fan. Yes, I'm a lovable loser. I embrace the title no matter how you make fun of it.

I live with my grandparents (my grandmother: Cub fan & grandfather: Cardinal fan) it's hard to be around them when they take it a bit seriously. But we all love each other.

Tonight's pitchers are John Lester (11-12) and John Lackey (13-10). In this pitching match up, I'll take Lester over Lackey. Lester has a better postseason record than Lackey. I remember how not good he can be when it came for pitching for the Red Sox and Angeles.

So for who will win the series, I'm taking the Cubs in 5. This will be a very close match. All I'm hoping is for great series but for the Cubs to go through to the NLCS.

Because as it said in Back to the Future II, the Cubs win the World Series and who hopes that comes true?

The Player "L.A. Takedown"

Alex and Johnson makes a deal to work together on finding what happen to his ex-wife. But Alex seems to have trust issues and have a friend do some digging. That did not go well with Johnson, who drugged Alex's friend and grabbed the copies and made some false paper work for Alex to look at and listen.

Alex's next job was to rescue someone from a drug cartel, but is more like Alex Kane. Trying to find this guy, realizing that after rescuing the guy was going after his son. I couldn't get enough of Alex and Cassandra's chemistry between these two,w ho work like Jack Bauer and Chloe from 24 expect there's a lot more humor.

I couldn't get enough of that helicopter scene when Alex and Cassandra where looking to snipe the guy befor ehe kills the client's son.

Overall, I enjoyed the episode much. I give it a 7.5/10, for which the run and shooting scene blew my mind, Johnson getting stuff done and Alex and Cassandra teamworking is amazing.

You can catch The Player Thursday nights at 10/9c on NBC.

Tensions Rises: The Blacklist "Marvin Gerard"

Tension runs high for Liz as Red tries to get a Blacklist to help with the fulcrum situation . This episode had everything you want for a television series.

The episode picked off from where we left off, Liz has turn herself to the Russian Embassy to have an asylum. Red doesn't like it and nether does Russler who wants to go in there and get Liz out of there. Red gets word that when Liz is taken to Moscow the second she's on the plane that she gets shot. Red gets Ressler to stop but it was a bit too late.

Russler drives and ambushes the cars, but Liz escapes and meets up with Red at a local diner. Liz doesn't look good at all. She might be losing it from what she's been through since the shooting. Soon Red sees cops pulling in and goes out and starts shooting at the car. Now a hostage situation was in play but it's not what you would expect.

Red talks to Ressler and demanded that he has Marvin Gerard, who's a blacklist but a good one. They bring him out and Gerard goes in. Red ask Marvin to look through the fulcrum and figures out that there are some holes that don't seem too good.

Tension rises, mostly for Liz, who almost had her gun taken away from her, but kicked the crap out of a guy, hurting the guy pretty bad. Liz starts freaking out with her eyes just in shocked from what she has done.

Soon, when Red gets on the phone with Ressler and ask for the rest of demands, but Ressler and the FBI was checking out about a phone call message to 911. In a brilliant way, Red left Ressler a message. As he listens to the message, Red, Liz and Gerard are heading out with the help from Chewy the diner owner into a hidden freezer to and underground cell.

One thing is for sure, you don't doubt Red, he's always one step ahead of anyone.

Red and Liz let Gerard go as he is free from the law and runs off with his soon to be wife. As for Liz and Red, they relax what looks to be a nice room, Red eats the best pecan pie. Liz ask how he ever gets looks from people, like the one she got in this episode.

But as he talks about how he loved to be a captain and sail out to sea, he opens the door and show Liz a beautiful night sky with the stars as they are on a ship. It was literally one of the most beautiful scene so far. It just felt that after the everything that had happen, they taken this moment to enjoy the stars.

But it's not over, not by a long shot. As Ressler heads home, he gets a surprise visit from Tom Keen. Also Cooper is no longer having his job, and seems to be on desk duty. But if we know Cooper, he's not going to stop. He's going to help. And I can't forget Dembe who seems to be a prisoner under Mr. Solomon, who's looking for Reddington.

This episode didn't disappoint at all. It was just as exciting as last week's season premiere episode. The tension and emotion carried on from then on. Megan Boone gave a great performance. I can't say enough about Diego Klattenhoff. He was outstanding.

Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

Here's a promo for next week's episode.

You can catch The Blacklist Thursday nights at 9/8c on NBC.
