Bring The Funny: This Is Us "Unhinged"

Image result for this is us unhinged

Sometimes laughter is the best medicine when it comes to being supportive. Here's a recap of this week's episode of This Is Us.

As Kevin travels to see Uncle Nicky, he tries to help him every way that he can. We see how Nicky becomes unhinged when a few weeks back he starting seeing a therapist, but after losing her we see him throw the chair during a group meeting.
After talking with another therapist to see if he should stay or leave the VA, Kevin bonds with Cassidy’s son. But when Cassidy comes out she’s wasn’t too pleased meeting with Kevin. That all kind of changed when Kevin brings Nicky to a meeting and she happens to be there; but when Kevin tells his story; talks about how worried he is that he could be an AARP spokesperson and soon both Cassidy and Nicky laugh.
Kate realizes that something is up with Toby and after having a business dinner with him, her suspicion has grown even further. The next day she asked Toby to take his shirt off and when he did he looked pretty buffed up. He tells her that he’s been stress exercising that he heads to the gym before and after work. She’s stunned but during the episode connects with her new neighbor that complains about how they block his walking path. She learns his story that he just suffered a stroke and lost his job but he still walks around even if he walks slow. Soon the two really connected and walked together.
In the episode, we see Randall and his Chief of Staff dealing with the politics but mainly one of their employees that complains about how they run things; which lead to her firing. Jack takes the blame for a mistake and gets fired but Miguel sticks up for him.
Young Randall starts his first day of school and with all his excitement, he gets in trouble for wearing the wrong shoes and panics. Lucky for Kevin he helps Randall and writes their mother’s name on it. Later that night Kevin, Randall and Kate bonded and decided to watch Arsenio Hall with Rebecca and Jack. And Deja tells Tess that the boy that she likes has a baby.
“Unhinged” was another very good and well-written episode. I can’t get enough of the scenes with Jennifer Morrison and Justin Hartley in that scene when they were at the meeting. Also, Timothy Omundson was very good as Gregory; even surprising has also suffered a stroke years ago just like his character. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
You can catch This Is Us Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

A Good Person: This Is Us "The Pool: Part Two"

Image result for this is us the pool part 2

With the summer coming to an end; we see our favorite family trying to squeeze one last family moment before the start of school and other things. Here's a recap!

While Randall and his family try to enjoy one last family summer fun before they all get busy. Randall goes with Deja riding the bus to her school. But he gets a bit of overprotection with her when she's sitting next to someone. Tess goes for a new hair cut and while it's a bit overwhelming, it's a cool new look for her. But later as they get together; as they race up theRocky's Steps with fun and joy. Jack whether he's a good person. At the end of the day, they come together and enjoy being the pool.

Meanwhile, both Kate and Kevin are having a bit of a hard time dealing with their issues. Kate worries about how she's going to take care of baby Jack; while Kevin is worried about jumping off the wagon while dealing with Uncle Nick and doing his next role. But when baby Jack begins to cry, Kevin comes in and not only calms him down but as Kate comes in she and he both calm each other down as well. Kevin takes the next flight to his next movie role while Kate accepts the challenges and whatever comes their way they'll deal with it for Jack.

Also, Toby has been sneaking out at night to do exercise just to take the stress off.
"The Pool: Part Two" was a very good and heartfelt episode from beginning to end.  The story was so good with character development; even some very good performances from Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley and even Chris Sullivan. Even that one scene with Sullivan and Mandy Moore was so good as they have a connection of worrying about Kate.

I enjoyed watching M. Night Shyamalan in this episode just like the rest of the unbelievable guest stars that come in playing themselves. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch This Is Us Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

Chill and Relax: The Good Place "Chapter 42: Chillaxing"

Image result for the good place chillaxing

As Eleanor and Michael's plan to get Chidi to teach the rest of the group; they kick it up a notch. Here's a recap!!

Michael and Eleanor's plan to get Chidi to teaching the rest of the group didn't seem to go well when they see a happy and relaxed Chidi. In order to stop Chidi from chillaxing, they ask him to add Jianya to his class; but Chidi will learn that Jianyu is really Jason and panics about the new situation.

Later the next day Michael and Eleanor invite Chidi and Jason to a luau where they could also make a wish with a rock and get what they want. After having a wild night, Chidi confronts Eleanor and Michael about something that he knows he can't tell them. As Chidi calms down, he tells them that he thinks that he's being punished; and all of a sudden Eleanor gets emotional about it. After talking with Michael, Chidi decides to keep the secret from them and tech Jason.

Meanwhile, Tahani and Janet try to get John to expect on taking Chidi's class; by taking to spas and tell gossip stories. But John wasn't having it; Tahani goes a different route and tells him a true story event.
It looks like all four of their test subjects have made it taking Chidi's class. But as they celebrate the win for the day, someone mysterious is coming riding the train tracks to The Good Place. Who could it be?

"Chillaxing" is another well written and character developed episode; with not only Kristen Bell and Ted Danson shines so bring together, but Manny Jacinto, William Jackson Harper, and Jameela Jamil did quite a bit in this episode. I loved that Jamil's character had to give John a real story from her past in order to get him to take a class. I thought that Jacinto's performance was very good and shines as his character is heartbroken and not the Jason we all know after breaking up with Janet. And who the hell is coming to The Good Place? I'm thinking Trevor or Mindy St. Claire. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch The Good Place Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC

Reflection: All Rise "Sweet Bird of Truth"

With two friends on trial for a video game to the bailiff being mistaken for another person; here's a recap of this week's episode of All Rise.

When Carmichael takes a trial of two friends over a video game, things take what at first is a comedic turn and then just turn to a heartfelt moment. As one friend is suing her best friend for killing her avatar in Warcraft type video game. After a heart to heart talk with one another, the friend takes a plea.

Callan takes a shot at the case of a woman suing a man for racial and attempting to kill her at her work. Whether it might not be a slam dunk of a case, Callan takes it from his boss and after trying to get his client to court, he got the judge to find the dude guilty.

It just wasn't Deputy Sheriff Luke Walkins as he was picked up by the LAPD; as they thought he was vandalism suspect. After letting him go and apologies, it affects Walkins for the rest of the week until his award night. As he gives his acceptance speech, Walkins talks about how we should reflect on the things in this world so they could make it better, even looking at the cop that arrested him.

"Seet Bird of Truth" might be my favorite episode so far this season. It had fun but also heartfelt moments that really won me over. The performances from the cast were very good and mainly from J. Alex Brinson as Walkins and even Bethel too. The episode had very good story plots and character development. Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

You can catch All Rise Mondays at 9/8 on CBS.

Sacrifice: The Good Place "Chapter 41: A Girl From Arizona, Pt. 2"

Cn Eleanor and the gang continue with their plan or will there have to be a change in leadership? Here's a recap!

In Part Two, after Judge grants that Chidi is the fourth subject in the experiment, Eleanor comes up with a way of getting to know their subjects: a talk show. But for Brent, it just wasn't going so well and that they learn what he's been using Janet for; from golfing, rides and even trying to get Janet to wear stuff for him.

Eleanor and Michael go to plan b with using the same effects that make The Good Place go haywire. But that, of course, diadn't go the way they had hope as Brent confesses to them that he doesn't belong in The Good Place, but The Best Place.

Later the team confronts Michael that they think that they need new leadership as Eleanor shows up and walks out. Michael talks to Eleanor and gives her the encouragement to try it again; which she did. They played to Brent's strength: getting him to believe that in order to get to The Best Place he has to do good things to add points.

After that worked, the next step is to get Chidi and Simone together, even telling him that they are soulmates. Chidi confronts Simone at the yogurt shops and gets her confidence to accept him. Later on, Eleanor and the gang reminisce of what Chidi has done for them, let alone what Eleanor too has done as well.

Also, Jason tries to do something nice for Janet by taking a lesson from Michael to given her some space. Soon Janet confronts Jason and tells him that they need to take a break and also tells him the news that the Jacksonville Jaguars cut Blake Bortles from their team, which left him depressed.

"Part two of A Girl from Arizona" was really good that had some heartfelt moments, mainly between Michael and Eleanor. With Eleanor thinks that it's gonna be a breeze; but it turns out it gets a bit harder but realizes that if something fails, try, try again. And even though Michael is a demon, he still shows remorse and gives Eleanor the pep talk that she needed to get the next plan going.

Janet and Jason's storyline was good, funny and even heartbroken; mainly when she tells him that Bortles was cut from his favorite NFL team. You knew that was going to hurt him the most over their break up break. The story was very good with good character development. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch The Good Place Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.

"Show Me The Monkey!" All Rise "Long Day's Journey Into Ice"

As one lawyer gets personal, Judge Carmichael gets a tough trial as a man could face deportation from ICE. Here's a recap!

As Callan tries to convict a young woman but her rich father buys out the witness and the judge grants a mistrial. Callan uses his daddy issues to help that young woman to face her father and making him pay for getting away.

Meanwhile, Judge Carmichael takes on a trial that gets ICE involved in the situation. Trying not only to stop ICE from taking the defendant but also trying to get him a sentence that doesn't have to deal with losing immigration statius, but soon Lopez finds away as she brings in evidence that her client was trying to prove that their local store is selling expired food and soon after Carmichael gives the guy three months in jail, which doesn't hurt his immigration status and doesn't have to deal with ICE.

"Long Day's Journey into ICE" was a very good episode that wasn't an over the top dramedy type of an episode but a good one with a satisfying result. Well written story plots and good character development as well that both Simone Missick, Wilson Bethel, and Jessica Camacho gave good performances.  Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

You can catch All Rise Mondays at 9/8c on CBS.

Embrace Fear Batwoman "Pilot" Series Premiere

Image result for batwoman pilot

With Batman MIA, who can save Gotham City under a new threat?

The series premiere of Batwoman was better than what the trailers and promos have shown throughout the summer. We meet Kate Kane who's training to be part of her father's police force Crows; but things take a turn when her ex-girlfriend, Sophie, has been kidnapped by Alice and her Wonderland Gang. Kate decides to use her cousin Bruce Wayne's tech from the Wayne Tower to find footage.

Kate goes on her own way to find Sophie and meets Alice in person; but gets knocked out and gets healed by Kate's step-sister Mary. Soon Kate goes back to Wayne Tower and gets information from Luke Fox about where Bruce is at, but instead of getting imformation she notices something has been moved. The necklace of Martha Wayne was moved to the right and when she moved it back and soon the bookshelf opens as it leads Kate to the Batcave.

Kate sees that the death of her sister and mother took a toll on Bruce as he thought both they would have been safe, but it wasn't. Kate sees the gadgets and even the bat-suit, in which she asked Luke to make improvements to the bat-suit to make it for her.

During the Gotham City Movie Night, things were looking good; until Alice calls Kate's father to tell him that she planted a bomb in the area. Not to mention that she also has Sophie hanging on the edge of the construction building. But Kate comes in taking out both two goons and fights Alice, but when Sophie falls, Kate leaps to save her.

The next day, the top conversation was about they think Batman returning to Gotham City. Sophie is the only one that thinks that it's not Batman. Later she bumps into Kate and the two get reconnected, but Kate learns that her ex-girlfriend that she cares about is engaged. With that being a bit of heartbreaking news for Kate; her father that he really wasn't going to let her join his team in The Crows. As she's done writing in one of Bruce's journals, she goes over what Bruce has been trying to figure out where her sister's body was located. It turns out that Alice is Kate's sister and does she have plans for her.

The "Pilot" was very good and as I said before better than what I thought it would be coming from the trailers and promos throughout the summer. And while it's only the pilot, I think that with time I believe that this series could get better. I'm loving the character of Kate Kane and Ruby Rose's portrayal of her. Even the relationship between Kate and Sophie is interesting; leaving a shocking twist of Sophie's engagement to an agent at Crow, but also as the episode progress and trying to figure out who Alice could be the ending of learning that it's Kate's sister was w wow factor.

I love it and I can't wait to see where the stories and the characters lead through this season. I'm all in for Batwoman. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch Batwoman Sundays at 8/7c on The CW.
