Looks like the grand reopening tat Cloud 9 will have a slight delay.
On Thursday, NBC has announced that Superstore, which was originally scheduled to kick off its sixth season on Thursday, October 22, will now return a week later on October 29.
Also announcing that its new social distanced comedy Connecting will now premiere on Thursday, October 8 at 8/7c, before sliding to 8:30/7:30c timeslot upon Superstore's return.
It was last week that America Ferrera, who had announced her departure from the sitcom, has signed on to appear in not one, but two seasons six episodes. The result that the series' milestone 100th episode (set to air on Nov. 5) will double as Ferrera's swan song.
"There was so much we wanted to explore with COVID and how it changes the world of Cloud 9 that we decided to focus on that in the premiere, with Amy starting her new job remotely while still trying to manage the store," co-showrunners Jonathan Green and Gabe Miller told TVLine. "The second episode will cover Amy's last day at Cloud 9, so we can fully give her the sendoff she deserves."
This isn't the first announcement of scheduling moves at NBC, on Wednesday the network announced that This Is Us Season Five will be moved up by two weeks to October 27th.
I don't see this as a big deal. I'm just looking forward to seeing the Cloud 9 back again.

During Wednesday's America's Got Talent finale, NBC aired the first teaser for the new season of This Is Us.
It's going to be a two-hour premiere scheduling for Tuesday, October 27 on NBC. The production is scheduled to start this week for the new season.

While it might just be some scenes from previous seasons and such, I'm still moved and excited (not to mention emotional) to see a small teaser for the new season.

On Wednesday, Deadline has reported exclusively that Pandora's Tehmina Sunny has been cast for a multi-episode arc opposite Nick Gehlfuss on the upcoming sixth season of NBC's Chicago Med.
Sunny will be playing Dr. Sabeena Virani. Superviving a clinical trial for a new medication, Dr. Virani approaches Dr. Halstead to lead the project.
The series is slated to begin production on the sixth season on September 22 in Chicago amid the stick COVID-19 protocols. It's set to premiere Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Sunny portrays Regan Fried in the CW sci-fi series Pandora, which was renewed for a second season. She has also been in films that include Argo and Children of Men.
Sounds like an interesting character and one that we should keep an eye on when the season starts up. I haven't really seen her in much. But I'm looking forward.

On Tuesday, Deadline exclusively reported that Empire alumna Nicole Ari Parker will be joining NBC's Chicago PD for a major recurring role in the upcoming eighth season. She'll be playing Deputy Superintendent Samatha Miller.
Miller, originally from Atlanta, is a progressive, ardent proponent of police reform. She wants to help Voight and the Intelligence adapt to the new reality but will not tolerate breaches of the new police guidelines and protocols.
This past year cop shows have come under fire for their depiction of police work in the aftermath of George Floyd's death, which had triggered a nationwide protest against police brutality. The topic is expected to be addressed by most, if not all, cop shows in their upcoming seasons.
Chicago PD's central character Detective Sergeant Hank Voight has been amazing those that have been singled out for his violent methods that include breaking fingers with pliers and putting guns in the mouths of criminals.
Parker's character is expected to rein in that behavior and hold Voight and his team accountable by imposing to the highly professional standards.
I'm looking forward to Parker joining the Chicago PD family and see where this will be going. PD has done police reform storyline before in Season Five but that turned out to be more of Voight's old friend getting back at him that sent Alvin Olinsky to his death at the end of the fifth season.
Chicago PD is set to begin production next week and the season premiere date is slated for Wednesday, Novemeber 11th.

Well, it looks like the tenure for Supergirl has an early conclusion.
On Tuesday, TVLine has learned that the upcoming sixth season of The CW's DC superhero series will be its last.
Production is to begin later this month with 20 episodes slated for the final season. The creative team has already developed the storylines.
In the wake of the announcement Melissa Benoist, who plays Supergirl/Kara, shared on Instagram, "To say it has been an honor portraying this iconic character would be a massive understatement. Seeing the incredible impact the show has had on young girls around the world has always left me humbled and speechless.
"She's had the impact on me too," Benoist contained. "She's taught me strength I didn't know I had, to find hope in the darkest of places, and that we are stronger when we're united. What she stands for pushes all of us to be better. She has changed my life for the better, and I'm forever grateful."
Regading on the show's final episodes, Benoist teased, "I'm so excited that we get to plan our conclusion to this amazing journey, and I cannot wait fo you to see what we have in store. I promise we're going to make it one helluva final season."
Is this a bit of a shocker, yes and no. I was hoping that it would at least go seven seasons but once you take a step back and look at what's going on with The CW and DCTV; it makes a whole lot of sense. Superman and Lois are coming at the beginning of the year and I guess it would just be too crowded for two superheroes on one network.

Before Sex in the City, there was Caroline in the City. Here's a look at a beloved and must-see comedy from the 90s.
Today marks the 25th anniversary of what was and still is one of the most underrated and beloved comedies of the 90s, Caroline In The City. The series debuted on Thursday, September 21, 1995, on NBC in the golden timeslot between two powerhouse shows, Seinfeld and ER.
To show how big that was, the series debut, Seinfeld, was the #1 show, while ER was the #2 show in the previous 1994-1995 season. Must-See TV Thursday was the powerhouse of shows; it was the best of the best, and Caroline was given the golden ticket.
The series premise is simple: a successful cartoonist, Caroline Duffy (Lea Thompson), who lives in New York City, draws her life experiences in her daily comic strip "Caroline in the City." Along with her in the quest for love and material are a few friends and co-workers that include the commitment-shy hunk of a boyfriend, Del (Eric Lutes), her sarcastic but secretly smitten assistant, Richard (Malcolm Gets), and her best friend and neighbor, Annie (Amy Pietz). And let's not forget Del's partner in crime, Charlie (Andy Lauer).
The pilot was of Caroline trying to find an assistant but also dealing with the recent break from Del. As soon as Caroline hires her assistant, Richard, she learns that Del has moved on, and soon, the two will have separate dates at their favorite restaurant. To prove to Del that she has a date, Caroline, along with Annie, found one, and soon she was set.
But she learned little after waiting and waiting while seeing Del have fun on his young date. Richard shows up and tells her that her date isn't coming (due to being married). But Richard saves Caroline by pretending that he is her date and makes Del very, very jealous. After dinner, Caroline learns a bit about Richard; coming from a failed relationship, the two seem to grow close until Del comes running by.
As soon as Richard leaves, Caroline and Del talk about what they want as it is each other. Soon, the episode ends, and as they go to bed, Richard is walking past the apartment, thinking he has feelings for Caroline.
As the show premiered on Thursdays for the 1995-1996 season, it finished in the Top 4 along with ER, Seinfeld, and Friends. They even won two People Choice Awards for Favorite New TV Comedy and Favorite Actress in a New TV Series 1996 and an Emmy for their title sequence.
In the first season, we had some fantastic guest stars like Florence Henderson, Jean Stapleton, Sharon Lawerence, Lauren Graham, Rose Marie, and Morty Amsterdam, along with Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing in a crossover.
After the first season, the series was moved to Tuesdays behind Frasier during its second season run and soon moved to Monday nights during its third and fourth seasons. Shortly after the 1999 season, it was canceled, missing its 100th episode milestone.
Today, fans still talk and hope for the show to make a reboot or revival to see where these characters are in this world today. Heck, when Michael J. Fox had his mask on NBC in 2014, I was so hoping that his character could be interviewing Caroline. But sadly, that show, too, got canceled.
Caroline in the City is a light-hearted comedy that, while it may not match up to shows like today. This series was well written and had such funny characters that played so strongly to the cast that had played them. Lea Thompson is so brilliant in how she can make you laugh while also winning your heart at the same time. The rest of the cast plays as strong as Thompson, too.
Growing up, I used to watch this show. I also used to watch it on Lifetime in the later years until they took off and placed something else that I can remember. A few years ago, I found out about the series being on DVD (only the first two seasons). Still, after sending emails to CBS Entertainment about releasing the rest of the series (because CBS All Access didn't have all of it and was out of order), they finally released the third and fourth seasons on DVD.
I highly recommend checking out Caroline in the City. It's just a feel-good, heart-warming, romantic comedy. They'll make you laugh, cry, and feel better watching it. It's something that we could use a lot more these days. Indeed, Caroline in the City is a must-see comedy classic.
