A Cop's Drive: Chicago PD "Ten Ninety-Nine" Season Premiere

Is everyone okay after the season premiere of Chicago PD?

The season premiere of Chicago PD "Ten Ninety-Nine" was a solid and fantastic episode that focused on Voight and the aftermath from the season finale as he deals with losing Upton, who has come so close to death. You can see from case to case that he and the team are building, going from one crime scene to another, as it connects to being a drug case in which he's got a drive in him.

It gets to be very psychological for Voight as you see him repeating changing his shirt after coming back from each crime scene, not to mention seeing him freeze up from trying to save a victim who is dying or an intell was shot that's been shot, as he thinks back to when he's literally on his death bed.

The only person who spots this is A.S.A. Chapman, who has gotten close to him in the past few seasons, trying to reason with him and even pulling an Upton to calm him down with all of this that he has been doing. I really enjoyed Voight and Chapman's relationship this past couple of seasons, but I wonder if I want to see a relationship-relationship happening.

The episode doesn't end there when Ruzkie (Ruzek's new nickname) and Detective Emily Martel are driving off, and shots are fired out of now; as they stop and get out, Martel is shot, leaving a big cliffhanger for next week's episode.

I really loved the season nine premiere of Chicago PD. Jason Beghe gave a solid performance as Hank Voight once again; give him the Performer of the Week TVLine! Was Burgess's absence a downer? No, really. The Martel character was an excellent addition, even giving us the best nickname for Ruzek. After that ending, it reminded me of the event in the first episode of Chicago PD.

Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.
