Guess what? St. Denis Medical has returned! Let’s dive into a delightful recap of episodes seven and eight!
"50 CC's of Kindness"
It's a new year at St. Denis Medical, and the hospital staff are kicking things off with sushi, blood donations, and some light inmate conflict resolution.
When two brawling inmates are admitted for treatment, Alex and Matt see an opportunity to prove themselves by helping them reconcile. Their hopeful (slightly ridiculous) attempt to unify the men through song quickly flops. Surprisingly, Ron makes some headway by offering sushi as a peace treaty. But while things look promising...the last piece becomes a new reason to fight.
Meanwhile, Bruce has a new challenge: donating blood. Ever squeamish, he decides to practice on a dummy arm, which leads to him using the arm to give blood. Unfortunately, this leads to a hilarious mishap. Bruce's reaction to even the idea of a needle is worth the price of admission alone. Watching him panic over an alcohol wipe is slapstick gold.
Elsewhere, Joyce finds herself in a rare moment of vulnerability after being accidentally kicked by one of the inmates. A quick-thinking guard steps in, sparking an unexpected connection between them. By the end of the episode, Joyce is floating the idea of a hospital job his way- and something more personal, too.
"50 CC's of Kindness" was yet another wonderfully hilarious episode packed with chaotic surprises and moments that really touched the heart. From the sushi truths shared by Alex, Matt, and Ron that didn’t quite go as planned to the funny scene with Bruce and his quirky fear of needles, there was so much to enjoy! I also loved the sweet interaction between Joyce and the prison guard. Overall, I’d give this episode a fantastic 9/10!
"Gimme the Scuttlebutt"
Romance is in the air...and Joyce wants all the details.
After realizing that a wave of workplace relationships may be blossoming at St. Denis, Joyce launches a full-scale mission to collect the gossip via official forms. Bruce decides to stir the pot by encouraging everyone to guess which workers might secretly be crushing on each other. But when Val's list excludes Bruce, he embarks on a personal mission to get her attention, even as Dr. Taylor tries to steer him elsewhere, like lunch.
Meanwhile, Alex longs for a stronger spark with her husband, Tim. With Serena's advice (and a little boldness), she attempts to surprise him at the hospital. They sneak into a VIP suite for some private time, only to be hilariously interrupted by Joyce.
Also brewing quietly in the background is Matt and Serena's simmering will-they-won't-they energy. When Serenea casually uses Matt as an example during a hypothetical "hookup" explanation, it catches him off guard—and clearly, he's still got feelings. Their dynamic grows with just the right mix of awkwardness and warmth.
"Gimme the Scuttlebutt" is a delightful episode filled with clever plotting and an abundance of charm. Joyce's obsession and her knack for stirring up workplace gossip bring a fun twist, while Alex's enthusiasm for a fresh perspective with her husband, Matt's quiet crush, and Bruce's amusing antics all blend together for a workplace comedy that really shines! Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
