It's that wonderful time of year for some laughter! Let’s look at episodes five and six of St. Denis Medical!
"A Peanut and Caramel-Filled Miracle"
Matt is hopeful that he will receive some gratitude from a patient he helped save, but it’s not something that gets directly said. He even reached out for appreciation from his mother and family, but that didn't go as planned. As the patient was leaving the hospital and accidentally dropped his sweater, Matt stepped out to gently ask for a bit of recognition. To his surprise, the patient quipped that he didn't realize he was living as a second-rate character in his own story. Ouch! On a brighter note, at least Matt received a heartfelt thank you from Serena.
"A Peanut and Caramel-Filled Miracle" sparked my appetite and filled my heart with laughter! Watching Ron and Bruce interact is pure gold; you always know it will be a sweet experience. I absolutely adore the chemistry between Grier and Lawson, the hospital's two fiery doctors and surgeons. The playful dynamic between Alex and Joyce is hilarious, and you can genuinely sense their mentor-mentee bond. Even their lighthearted role-play about firing Debbie was side-splittingly funny!
Overall, I give this episode a 9/10,
"Ho-Ho-Hollo"
It's the Christmas season at St. Denis Medical, and there's a warm fuzzy feeling!
When Matt and Bruce assist a patient struggling with a ring issue, they find it challenging to find a safe way to remove it. Naturally, Bruce playfully considers using his katana sword, but that idea is far-fetched! Thanks to the firefighters from miles away, they brought in a ring cutter and removed the ring. The patient also proposed to his girlfriend.
Joyce notices that Portland General has a substantial social media following and feels inspired to create content that attracts attention. Alongside Serena, they faced a few challenges along the way, with some quirky and awkward moments, like missing the heartwarming instant when a child heard his mother's voice for the first time. However, they produced a delightful lip-sync video that brightened viewers' day!
At the same time, Alex and Ron find themselves in a challenging situation with a patient who is pretending to have cancer. They gently encourage him to share the truth with his family, who are unaware of the problem. After Ron feels betrayed again, they both urge the patient to come clean to his loved ones, or else they might have to report the GoFundMe fraud, which he handled rather poorly. Before long, Alex warmly invites Ron to celebrate Christmas with her family, discovering that he would otherwise spend it alone since his family is all the way in Texas.
"Ho-Ho-Hollo" was filled with joyful moments that brightened my holiday blues. Watching Bruce and Matt navigate a patient's ring issue was hilarious and endearingly awkward, especially with some of Bruce's unique solutions. I especially enjoyed the Alex and Ron story in this episode, where they encouraged their patient to be honest about his health while having Ron spend quality time with a co-worker during the holidays—a lovely touch! And I can’t forget Joyce and Serena's hilarious adventure in finding a video that would go viral on social media! The final lip-sync video brought back memories of the season seven premiere of The Office, and it truly made me smile.
Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
