In the latest "Ghosts" episodes, we enjoy heartfelt revelations and chaotic antics. Trevor uncovers a shocking family secret in "Pinkus Returns," while a political rally intertwines with past ghosts in "I Know What You Did Thirty-Seven Summers Ago." These episodes blend comedy and emotion, showcasing the series' charm. Let’s explore the highlights and surprising moments that entertained us.
"Pinkus Returns"
When someone from Trevor's past comes back to the mansion for the weekend, it turns out to be the very person he gave his pants to before his death—Pinkus! But he didn't come alone; he brought his daughter, Abby, with him. As Trevor listens to Pinkus' story about how he met Abby's mother, he discovers an incredible surprise: Abby is actually his biological daughter!
Trevor encourages Sam to have Pinkus share the truth about Abby's father. However, when Sam decides against it, Trevor takes matters into his own hands. He sends a text from Sam's phone intended for Pinkus but accidentally sends it to Abby instead. When Abby receives the message, she discovers the truth and gets upset with Pinkus. Trevor really steps up to make things right in his own way, and he does it by treating us to a heartfelt music montage featuring Abby and Pinkus, set to Green Day's "Time of Your Life". Talk about a T-Money win. And soon Abby and Sam talk about Trevor and the things that he liked and loved.
Meanwhile, Pete makes the difficult decision to end his relationship with Donna because of her tragic involvement in her husband’s death. However, instead of walking away, he finds himself diving into a thrilling Columbo-style investigation! Along the way, he encounters another ghost who, despite being unable to intervene at the time of the murder, witnessed the entire event unfold. Just when things seemed hopeless, Pete and Jay discover that the ghost had been deceitful, influenced by his Walkman cassette tape. Ultimately, they uncover the surprising truth that the ghost's wife was actually responsible for the death of Donna's husband, all over a parking dispute.
"Pinkus Returns" turned out to be another delightful episode, packed with both witty and heartfelt moments. The Pete storyline was a joy to watch and brought some genuinely enjoyable twists, reminiscent of the classic Columbo series. I can totally picture a fun spinoff series featuring a ghost and a human teaming up to solve a murder each week—come on, CBS, a franchise opportunity awaits! The Trevor storyline also stood firm; I didn't see his fatherhood coming at first, but as the story unfolded, it all made perfect sense. And wow, that Green Day song really tugs at your heart, doesn’t it? From Abby reminiscing over photos of her and Pinkus to those touching moments with Trevor watching—they all really resonated with me.
Overall, I give this episode an 8.5 out of 10.
"I Know What You Did Thiry-Seven Summers Ago"
When the town Mayor is set to use the restaurant for his campaign rally, Sam, Jay, and the others discover something intriguing: the Mayor has a past in this area connected to a tragic event. Does that sound familiar? It certainly should, as he was once dating Stephaine, the teenage ghost who resides in the attic. To stir up even more excitement, Isaac accidentally awakens her, and she leaps into a passionate rant about how he left her with the killer.
But do Sam and Jay decide to confront the Mayor about this, or do they let him handle things so they can snag the necessary permits for their restaurant? While they were watching, the Mayor spoke to the residents, and they decided it was time to speak up. However, when they finally did, Sam discovered that the Mayor had actually been trying to protect Stephanie by standing up to the killer, but unfortunately, he had been knocked out cold. Wow, this story sure gives you a headache, doesn’t it?
After that little mishap, Sam and Jay quickly apologized to the Mayor for their actions, attributing it to the excitement of the 4/20 celebration. But when Stephanie sees him, she gets quite the surprise: she spots his wife, who happens to be her best friend, and learns that they have a lovely daughter named Stephanie too. Wow, that really made her pause and led to a nice moment between them! However, it looks like Sam and Jay might actually be able to get those permits from the Mayor, which could be a good turn of events.
Meanwhile, Jay is busy trying to get his staff in the right mindset and steer clear of celebrating on 4/20, but Pete can't resist and sneaks a peak at one of them, ending up getting high himself! This unexpected turn leaves everyone quite shocked, including Alberta, who impulsively tries to kiss him but gets turned down—yikes! Later on, Hetty, Trevor, and some others join one of the employees to soak in the atmosphere of 4/20 together smell.
"I Know What You Did Thirty-Seven Summers Ago" was a decent episode. While it included a fun montage that reminded me of the title "I Know What You Did Last Summer," it didn't quite measure up to the previous episode. I'm curious if you feel the same way, but I've found the character of Stephanie a bit annoying, even when they introduce her in the series. Also, the jokes in this episode didn’t quite hit the mark, especially when the ghosts were curious about what certain words meant, like "lab partner." However, Pete getting high could definitely be considered the standout moment (see what I did there!). It was entertaining to watch a character we hadn’t seen before enjoying some Mary Jane while spying on Jay's employees. Plus, the scene with Alberta and Pete was delightful, even though it didn’t turn out quite like Pete had hoped.
All in all, I give this episode a 7/10.
