If you’re looking for a comedy that’s as smart as it is silly, FX’s English Teacher is back and better than ever. Season 2 doesn’t just repeat last year’s charm—it amplifies it, mixing razor-sharp humor with heartfelt moments that remind us why this show became a breakout hit. Here's my review.
One of last year’s top new comedies has returned with even more chaos and comical antics. If you haven’t seen English Teacher, where have you been? Season one was an excellent, well-crafted, and deeply character-driven series, and this year takes everything up a notch.
Season 2 is packed with hilarious scenarios: Evan’s students stage a production titled “COVID in America,” he’s stuck running a chaotic Wi-Fi waste-disposal enterprise, and his relationship with Malcolm is tested. Meanwhile, Markie tries to spark jealousy in Gwen with a provocative new girlfriend, and the brief, chaotic return of Linda? Enough said.
This second season is absolutely hilarious yet manages to be emotionally touching, making us care even more about these characters. Brian Jordan Alvarez leads the ensemble brilliantly, supported by Stephanie Koenig, Enrico Colantoni, Sean Patton (who truly steals the show), and Carmen Christopher. English Teacher balances sharp humor with genuine heart, cementing its place as one of TV’s best comedies.
Overall, I give Season 2 a 9/10.
