Recap: High Potential "Eleven Minutes"

This week’s episode of High Potential, “Eleven Minutes,” was a gripping hour of TV. Morgan not only unravels the mysterious death of a troubled man but also shares some meaningful moments with her daughter Ava as they confront her on the latest news of her father. Here's my recap and review.

A Heartbreaking Motive

From start to finish, “Eleven Minutes” delivers a strong case. The victim is found brain-dead under suspicious circumstances, and the question isn’t if he was killed, but why. Was it gambling debts? Something else entirely?

The answer is quietly devastating. Morgan and Karadic discover the victim was an organ donor preparing to give his heart. But when his daughter shared the joyful news that she was expecting, he reconsidered his decision. That change of heart pushed someone else over the edge.

The killer, a paramedic close to the victim, had a personal motive: he wanted to leave the man brain-dead so his mother could receive the heart. In the end, his plan fails; his mother goes back on the transplant list and the heart instead saves a young girl. It’s a tragic, morally tangled motive that gives the case real emotional weight.

Bonding Behind Bars

Away from the investigation, Morgan faces drama at home. When she shares news about her father with Ava, Ava bolts from school and vandalizes one of his paintings. Morgan’s attempt to intervene backfires, landing them both in jail. Yet this unexpected time together becomes an opportunity. We see Morgan and Ava’s “high-potential” thinking in action as they work through their emotions and begin to repair their bond.

Final Thoughts

“Eleven Minutes” is another compelling installment of High Potential. The case is engaging and heartbreakingly human, while Morgan and Ava’s storyline deepens their relationship in believable ways. I also liked the tension created by Soto’s late arrival in the episode — it felt like a slow build to something bigger, and I’m curious where that’s headed. Strong writing and excellent performances make this one of the season’s standouts. Overall, I give  this episode an 8/10
