Recap: Ghosts "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day"

This week, the mansion was filled with family drama and political turmoil. Trevor faces a dilemma when his daughter, Abby, loses her job. Should she consider working at Jay's Restaurant? Also, a ghost election is underway: who will represent the upstairs residents—Isaac or Flower? Here's a recap and review.

Trevor asks Sam and Jay to hire Abby to work at the restaurant, an awkward request given her last visit to the mansion. Abby accepts but sets clear boundaries. The situation quickly sours when Trevor sees Neal, the cook, asking Abby out for ice cream. Trevor immediately asks Sam to implement a no-dating policy in the workplace. Abby overhears this and quits, believing the policy was aimed at her.

Sam finally explains to Abby that her father is haunting the mansion, but Abby remains skeptical. Even Hetty's trick with the purse doesn't convince her. Desperate, Trevor tries to move the heavy Stanley Cup off the table. Suddenly, his ghostly strength kicks in, and he successfully moves the cup. Abby believes in him and his strength, but also admits the only reason she was dating Neal was for free meals.

An election is upon the ghosts, with Isaac and Flower vying to represent the upstairs residents. Just before the debate, Flower is "walked by" by Gabe, which sends her on a mental trip but leaves her in an unusual state: she's intelligent. During the debate, Flower not only completely demolishes Isaac's arguments but wins the election outright. Isaac, crestfallen, decides to take his politics downstairs, much to the other ghosts' confusion. The episode also gives us a sweet moment with Pete and Albert sharing a kiss.

"Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" was highly enjoyable and left me wanting more—I definitely noticed how quickly the episode wrapped up! It fluidly shifted from Trevor's overzealous "dad mode" to Abby's perspective and cleverly revealed Flower's hidden political skills triggered by Gabe. The episode was heartwarming, showing Trevor doing his best to finally connect with Abby, even in death.

The episode had strong writing and was well-acted by the entire cast. The shift in the election dynamic and Trevor's newfound ability to interact physically were great highlights that promise fun future storylines. Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

What do you think is the real source of Trevor's sudden strength, and will Flower's intelligence stick around after her encounter with Gabe? Leave a comment.

You can catch Ghosts Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS and streaming the next day on Paramount+.
