TV Corner Notes: The Week in TV: Goodbyes, Premieres, and Plenty to Watch

It’s a week of bittersweet goodbyes and fresh starts in TV land, from The Kitchen signing off after 11 years to St. Denis Medical scrubbing in for another season.

November is shaping up to be a big month for TV. Between finales, premieres, and holiday specials, there’s plenty to watch, and even more to talk about. But before we dive into what’s new, I had to take a moment to reflect on one of Food Network’s most comforting staples and spotlight one of NBC’s most promising comedies.

ICYMI: A Farewell to The Kitchen

I posted a special edition of TV Corner Notes on Friday about the cancellation of The Kitchen.

After 11 years and 40 seasons, The Kitchen is cooking up its final episode this December. It’s been a comforting Saturday staple filled with laughter, creativity, and a whole lot of heart. In my latest column, I share what made this Food Network favorite so special, and why saying goodbye hits a little harder than expected.

Review: St. Denis Medical Season 1

Before tonight’s Season 2 premiere of NBC’s St. Denis Medical, here’s a quick look back at where it all began.

The first season of St. Denis Medical found an unexpectedly heartfelt groove, blending workplace chaos with genuine emotional depth. What started as a scrappy hospital comedy quickly settled into a rhythm, balancing sharp laughs with meaningful character moments that linger.

The ensemble shines, delivering humor and humanity in equal measure. By the finale, it’s clear this isn’t just a medical spoof, it’s got real heart. St. Denis Medical easily earns its place as one of NBC’s most promising comedies and one worth keeping an eye on as it scrubs in for another season.

My Top 5 Anticipated for November

From laugh-out-loud comedies to heart-pounding thrillers, here are the five shows I can’t wait to watch this November.

Landman (Paramount+, November 16)

The Taylor Sheridan series returns with a high-stakes second season starring Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, navigating the dangerous oil industry. Sam Elliott joins the cast, and if you haven’t seen Season 1, now’s the perfect time to catch up—Thornton’s commanding performance steals the spotlight.

2. St. Denis Medical (NBC, November 3)

One of last season’s standout comedies is back with more laughs, heart, and mockumentary magic. Fans of The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Superstore will love the ensemble cast, where tears often come from both laughter and touching emotional moments.

3. A Man on the Inside (Netflix, November 20)

This Netflix comedy quickly became a favorite in 2024, thanks to Ted Danson, Stephanie Beatriz, and an incredible lineup of guest stars, from Susan Ruttan to Sally Struthers. It’s clever, heartfelt, and laugh-out-loud funny, with enough intrigue to keep you thinking long after each episode.

4. The Assassin (AMC+, November 20)

Initially streaming in the UK, this Keely Hawes and Freddie Highmore series is finally coming to AMC+ in the U.S. A retired assassin living in Greece reunites with her son, only to find danger from her past creeping back. The suspenseful story and stellar performances make this one worth the wait.

5. Stranger Things Season 5, Part 1 (Netflix, November 26)

The most highly anticipated show of the month, this final season promises epic stakes. The long buildup, recent trailer, and the series’ cultural impact make it impossible to ignore.

No matter your taste, comedy, drama, thriller, or suspense, November’s lineup has something for everyone. Which of these shows are you most excited to watch this month?
