But suburban networking takes a dark turn when Karl hears disturbing news from his and Mallory’s attorney. A private investigator hired to surveil Paula claims she has a secret boyfriend living in her apartment. The problem? Paula is absolutely single. The “boyfriend” the PI photographed lurking around her place is actually Frank, the cold-blooded killer she’s been hunting.
The moment Paula learns the predator has breached her home, she shifts into battle mode. She quickly arranges for Hazel to stay safely at a friend’s house to keep her out of harm’s way. Then one of the soccer kids has a severe allergic reaction, forcing Paula to rush out for medication. When she returns to an unnervingly quiet house, Frank is waiting.
Paula puts up a brutal fight, but Frank overpowers her, shoves her into his vehicle, and drives her to a remote location. Then comes the jaw-dropping twist: as a smug Frank opens the trunk, Paula catches him off guard and shoots him point-blank. Meanwhile, Geri and Rudy close in on the getaway car used in the previous episode’s motel chaos. Their search turns up a discarded burner phone with the killer’s direct number. Even with this massive clue, the official detectives are still a step behind Paula.
"Rosebuds" is a standout episode, blending suburban satire, dark humor, and genuine white-knuckle suspense. Tatiana Maslany is phenomenal, flipping from charming, anxious mom to ruthless survivor the instant she realizes the killer was in her apartment. With Frank seemingly dead, is he really gone, or is another twist still coming? I’m fully hooked and can’t wait to see what consequences await Paula next.
Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.
