Change of Heart: Shades of Blue "Good Police" Season Premiere

Image result for Shades of Blue "Good Police"

The season premiere of Shades Of Blue was as intense and chilling as it could be and leaving us with some shocking moments.

After getting a quick recap on how we got here, we see Harlee speaking in front of a council about how to NYPD is dirty and even talking about how herself has been involved too. But we jump back three weeks proper to that event and see Harlee, Loman and Woz trying to get the drug dealer that's dealing and had that kid who shot Woz in the season finale. That was until gun shots were heard and the three headed over there.

As they come to the scene, Harlee and Woz see mainly everyone dead, while Loman chases someone that was running from the back of the diner. As Harlee checked the back, someone runs out the back and she chases him. He stops and turns and with a moment look Harlee shot him thinking that it was Stahl, but it wasn't.  Loman comes just after the shots and helped Harlee out, the same way she helped him out in the pilot.

Harlee tries to help figure out who would come in a shot an officer til she thinks that it had to do with the Intelligence unit doing. After the funeral of the police officer from the diner, Harlee and Loman tracked a suspect to take him in and questioned him, but the Intelligence gets in the way and gets to Woz asking for an exchange between Harlee's suspect and Woz's drug dealer that he's trying to get.

After Woz tries to get Harlee to turn her suspect in, she follows the orders but changed her mind and doesn't exchange like Woz was hoping she would do. Instead, she takes him to protective custody with James talking to him about it. As soon as Harlee meets with Woz in his garage, she talks about how it's the intelligence unit that got their own shot.

But as Harlee heads home, she gets a call from James about how they need to meet and that it was about what their suspect has to say. But when she heads there, she seems to be followed by a taxi and quickly she pulls over and follows a man in a hat that looks like someone, maybe Stahl. She follows him from the subway and out but loses him. She walks out and gets a taxi to meet with James til police cars were rush over and she too rush over to see that the suspect was killed along with James too.

This episode was so good with the intense, dramatic moments and the shocking final moments. But mainly I was moved with some of the scenes that mimic from the pilot episode from Loman helping Harlee out after she accidentally shot the suspect to what she did helping Loman out. Also the Woz-Harlee scene in his garage and the thunderstorm coming too. It does feel the show is coming to an end along with going back to the events that will lead up to Harlee testifying in court. Anyone thinking that some might not survive? I didn't see Woz in court with Harlee and others. Overall, I give this episode a 8.5/10.

Shades of Blue Season 1 and 2 recap

Image result for shades of blue season 3

We're just less than eight hours til the season premiere of the final season of Shades of Blue. If you haven't seen the last two seasons of the show, here's a quick recap.

In season one where it all started, we meet Detective Harlee Santos, who's a corrupt cop with the Street Crimes squad in the NYPD's 64th Precinct in Brooklyn, Just as things were going well with her, she gets caught by the FBI agent Robert Stahl. He makes a deal with her in exchange for shorten sentencing she turns in her Lieutenant, Matt Wozniak.

But Wozniak sense someone has been snitching in the group and tells Harlee about it in private, because he trust her. It not only drives Woz and Harlee crazy but it puts their team in a stressful time when a member of the team gets killed, because Woz thinks he was the one who's been talking with the FBI.

If that wasn't enough for Harlee, her ex-boyfriend and the father to her daughter comes back and gets release from jail due to bad evidence. He wants to meet with his daughter and Harlee as well. But Harlee pays him in cash to stay away but that wasn't going to happen at all.

It finally goes down with Stahl taking Woz, but the ending left a huge cliffhanger when Harlee confronts her ex's and he tries to rape her but she snaps his neck.

Season 2 was even more character driven than the first season with a whole lot of twist, turns and personal.

Just after Harlee snaps her ex's neck, she takes him out and digs his grave. But she gets a phone call and joins with Woz and explains to him that what she had to do was all for her kid. She asked him how he got away from Stahl and he tells her that he works for him now trying to get someone for him, who that would be seemed to be the Boss of New York, but that wasn't til Stahl tells them that he wants Councilwoman Julia Ayres, who killed his partner long ago.

It's been nothing but back and forth between Woz and Stahl til Stahl got the best of Woz and mailed his wife photos of his secret life as a bisexual.

As Harlee and Woz worked together to get Ayres the best they can, Stahl digs into Harlee's life, connecting with her daughter and searching for her father. He figures out that Harlee had killed her ex and tries blackmail her more and more, but she turned the tables on him when she informed the FBI of what he has been doing, for which he gets fired.

Things take a turn when Woz and the team get taken out with guns shots firing at them, hitting Woz's son. After things got really personal and Woz gets Ayres but not after she was elected Mayor. But it turns tragic twist when Woz gets shot point blank at the office and Stahl kidnaps Harlee, who happens to have a fetish for her, but she kicks his butt and tries to escape leaving with an intense cliffhanger.

Shades of Blue has been delivering week in and week out some of the best drama in the last two seasons on television. Not only does Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta gives great performances but the show's cast delivers too. With strong stories, it delivers with moments of character development and the twist and turns just leaves the audience stunned.

You can catch the season premiere of Shades of Blue tonight at 10/9c on NBC.

Through the Eyes of a Cop: Shades Of Blue "Daddy's Girl"

Image result for shades of blue season 2

For one case it brings one person to face his own demons, while Harlee's daughter is looking for her dad by asking one person.

"Daddy's Girl" was a very intense let a long well performed by Ray Liotta, probably his best performance on the show so far. When Woz and Harlee get a call of two drug overdose girls at a party, Woz takes matters into his own hands, because his own daughter killed herself while taking drugs.

Woz goes the distance in finding the man selling the supply and when he does he really pushes it to the guy as he tries to get answers. He pushes so far that he stuffs an entire small bag of them in the guy's mouth and gets him to spell, for which he did but needed an ambulance fast.

But it was after we see Woz walk out and headed towards his office with a look of almost relief and exhausted. He soon talks to his son and explains to him that it wasn't his fault that his sister killed herself that it was his and not only that apologies for not being there as a father but he still thinks that he's done right by his father and grandfather.

While Harlee tries to protect Woz and her crew from Intern Affairs, her daughter ask Stahl to find her daddy and hopes that he'll return. But instead of looking for him (because he's dead and all and they don't know that) he messages her as her father in one of the most creepiest ways possible.

But also Harlee tries to come to Julia about money laundry at a tavern that is connected with the mafia and after a couple of times Julia tries to tell Harlee to stop it. Harlee records the conversation but gets rid of it after listening to Woz about how she helped him back then with something personal.

This was a fantastic episode that Ray Liotta really shined. The expressions in his eyes was just unbelievably amazing. The writing was so so good and left us with s cliffhanger if you didn't see as Harlee was walking towards her car a guy was standing next to it and even talked to her about having a good night. He broke into her trunk of her car and done something. Hell I thought it was a bomb or something but in next week's episode looks like something that she'll be framed for which will be another intense episode for Harlee to overcome. Overall, I give this episode a 8.5/10.

You can catch Shades of Blue Sundays at 10/9c on NBC.

The Meaning of Things: Shades Of Blue "Ghost Hunt"

Image result for shades of blue season 2

What Harlee thinks she knows is not really what Stahl wants at all.

"Ghost Hunt" started off very good and dramatic with such thrilling music playing between Harlee and Woz as they prepare for their morning. Harlee talks with her daughter, who seems to be quiet at times and yet not much to tell her mother about things, let along hanging out with her grandmother's place. While Woz is at home alone after his wife left him after learning his affair with David and just dwells over with booze til his son gets there.

Stahl and his FBI team head over to Harlee's place to take her in after the previous episode had Woz choking him almost to death. Harlee tells him that she can talk Woz down to a level that he'll help with his investigation but he'll have to give her some time and that's what he did and also mention that he's still looking into Miguel and tells her that he's been off the grid.

Woz has a plan and he does it without Harlee but she won't take no for an answer as she'll be along his side til all of this is over to say. He goes after the guy that ordered the bank robbery and tries to get him to show up at the park, but during a stake out, Woz thinks that he might not show and turns out he wasn't but was up on the roof about to take out one of his guys while seating with Harlee. Woz takes the guy and lies to Harlee about it.

But it wouldn't be too long til she figures that Woz has the guy but also gets a call about Christie stealing from a local grocery store. But after picking her up she heads to a local tavern where Woz left someone there and wanted her to let that guy go after spilling out about his boss to Woz.

It was later that Harlee figures out what Woz was doing and gets Stahl to meet her with their guy that they caught. Harlee explains to Stahl but that's not going to cut it with him and shoots the guy dead. There Stahl tells them that Julie was the one that killed his partner and we finally know the reason why he's going after her in the first place.

This was a very good episode and just like This Is Us, this show plays some great music for scenes that just brings the intense feeling to it. The relationship between Harlee, Woz and Stahl have been nothing but great television and this episode was just another level  I do worry about that Internal Affairs dude on where he's sniffing around the team investigating David's disappearance. There were some very good scenes with him and Harlee, mostly at the basement at the Tavern. I can't wait for the next episode to see where these characters goes next. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch Shades of Blue Sunday nights at 10/9c on NBC.

Shades of Blue "Eye of A Hurricane"

Image result for shades of blue season 2

Beware as the storm has come full force.

After last week's season premiere, this past Sunday's episode was still on fast speed on intense drama. And most of it was calling off the buffs of each other.

When Harlee meets up with Wozniak at the local diner, not talking to her or when Stahl shows up as well but gives both of them a message from his orders: a blueberry pie (Harlee hates) and a child's pancake for Stahl (either because he's got child like features, I guess). But let's just say wit Harlee there to translate for Wozniak, it made for some funny moments.

Stahl wants a name of the politician that is connected to the mod boss that they arrested last week. We all know it's Julie but Wozniak or Harlee wants to take her down because she was one of them in the past and Harlee has to testify in court on the charges against that mod boss, for which didn't stick because the Judge dismissed it.

But Harlee gets threaten by the mod boss when they're in the elevator together and so she reopens the case of the judge (who dismissed the case) look at the accident that was also dismissed before Hurricane Sandy came which she tries to find the officer at the time, for which she found at Julie's party.

Meanwhile, the moment of the episode happens to be between Wozniak and Stahl, when they each try to call each other buffs. Stahl frozen all of Wozniak's credit cards, Wozniak turning in the video of Stahl from his hotel room with a stripper when he was at the court hearing for custody of his son. Then the gloves really came off when Stahl leak the tape of him with his relationship with Donnie Pomp and that got Woz beating the crap out of him but thanks to Harlee he stopped choking him and walked away.

"Eye of a Hurricane" was one hell of a roller coaster ride of an episode that had really good writing and the characters was unbelievable (mostly Harlee, Woz and Stahl). Liotta and Warren Kole really put the meaning of hated rivalry back on television. As Jennifer Lopez would say on American Idol, "I got all gooses (goosebumps) all over." Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

You can catch Shades of Blue Sunday nights at 10/9c on NBC.

Buckle Up: Shades of Blue "Unforgiven" Season Premiere

Image result for shades of blue season 2

After the events of what happen in the season finale, trust is probably out the door for a while.

"Unforgiven" marks the first episode of season two of Shades of Blue. After Det. Harlee Santos told er boss Lt. Matt Wozniak that she was the mole for Special Agent Robert Stahl of the FBI, the tables have really turned now that pushes these characters to another level of holy shit.

The episode picks up right where we left off with only a few minutes before when Harlee snaps her abusive ex's neck. Stunned for a minute or two, she moves to get rid of the body by dumping it to a fellow Detective's grave, for which he was framed by her as the mole to Wozniak. Placing the body in the grave, she cuts the body apart with tool helped provided by a fellow Intel.

Meanwhile, Wozniak meets with Stahl and talk up of a deal of how Stahl needs a dirty cop to get find the person that orders for the dirty calls, for which is a former NYPD Detective and runner for Julia Ayres (played by Anna Gunn), who has ties with the head mafia of Brooklyn.

Wozniak would have a talk with Julia after arresting the the head mafia of Brooklyn and talk of how this should not be anything but a misunderstanding. He's pissed at the situation that he's in, but for Julia she figures out that someone is pushing him to do what he did and that they should go after the person that is involved for which is includes Harlee for one thing.

This was one hell of an episode that at the moment that Harlee moved the body we were off to the races of intense drama. The scenes with Lopez and Liotta was outstanding and also gave me some of the chills watching scenes from when they were on the car ride to talking in Wozniak's garage during the storm. Also Lopez's performance with Sarah Jeffery couldn't be more heartwarming but also just chilling as she was explaining to her of the act that she did to get her dad away while seeing her sneak in and taking the money back to burn.

This episode really sets up for one hell of a ride of I have no clue where it will go but I'm definitely going to buckle up every Sunday night and watch to see where this will go. The writing was very good and the performance from Lopez, Liotta and Anna Gunn was great. Overall, I give this episode a 8.5/10.

Shades of Blue A Season Finale that's Must See

Ever since January 7th, there has been no other show getting major buzz on Thursday nights at 10/9c like Shades of Blue. For week after week, the show has been thrilling us with unbelievable moments. And as tonight's the season finale, it's gonna be the mother of all season finales.

If you don't know or haven't heard of Shades of Blue, it's about a NYPD detective Harlee Santos (played by Jennifer Lopez), who's a single mother dealing with financial issues. She gets caught by the FBI anti-corruption task force and has to decide whether to do the right thing for her daughter or cover up for her corrupt co-workers.

From the moment episode one ends, you're on this ride that you can't and don't want to get off. There are so many twist and turns for this cop drama that it's not your typical cop drama at all. It's basically a character driven cop drama.

Lopez gives her best performance in this series. I'm already given her an Emmy nod. She's been nothing but unbelievable and half the time it's not only her but this great ensemble cast. Ray Liotta, gives a great performance as Harlee's captain, mentor and friend. So does Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos) too. And Warren Kole (Common Law) gives an amazing performance that gets into your skin as the FBI anti-corrupt task force leader and Harlee's handler. With great acting comes great writing and this series has great writing.

Tonight is the season finale, if you missed episodes you can download the NBC app and watch the full season episodes. Less than a month after the series premiered, the show gets picked up for a second season.

What's being said about the finale is that you need to brace yourself. Lopez tells The Jess Cagle Interview with People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly editorial director, "All I can say is that I don't know where we go from here. When we were doing the last scenes for the last episode in that last week,  I was like 'what the hell are we doing?' Oh my god, it's riveting. I'll tell you that much."

You can catch the season finale of Shades of Blue tonight at 10/9c on NBC.
