Love and Rouge:The Mysteries of Laura "The Mystery of the Corner Store Crossfire" Season Finale

The season finale of The Mysteries of Laura shows not only that this is a police dramedy but also that it has some heart. The first

In last week's shocking cliffhanger, Jake gets shot by an unknown robber. We cut to as Laura rushes to the hospital and demands to see Jake, as she's in a precarious state now. Laur Sees him as he exits the elevator and runs to him. Stop by the doctor; he tells her to wait in the waiting room and let him do his job, which she'll do for Laura.

Billy, Frankie, and Meredith are at the scene; Laura comes in and takes over by questioning the store clerk who saw it all.  Laura was determined to find Jake's shooter, even if she had to play a bit dirty.

The team arrested a DJ who had robbed a couple of other places. Billy and Laura questioned him and got him to spill some helpful information, even though he wasn't the shooter. They looked for the clerk at the shop but couldn't find him. But they did find his girlfriend, who's keeping their relationship on the down low because of his family. After she couldn't say much to Billy and Meredith, DJ was brought to talk to Laura, who was not in a perfect mood.

After spilling this, her boyfriend made a gun from the 3D machine and gave it to the shooter, asking for it. Billy and Meredith found the guy and got him to talk, but it was too late that he gave the gun to the shooter earlier.

They found the guy near the JFK airport at an auto shop. In that scene, Laura was bound to get answers and even took on a tall and big guy. But with him looking at another person, that gave Laura a hint that he's the guy. Of course, the guy ran but didn't get any further as Laura turned on the car wash machine and captured the guy.

It turned out later that he wouldn't use the gun but deliver it to another person. Someone was going to use it in the courthouse. They sweep the place until Laura knows and sees it through the security cameras of the person, a mother who lost her child to this guy on the trail.

Laura and the gang rush into the courtroom and talk to the mother down. Laura looked like she was relieved that this case was over. After the case, we see her talking with her dad about how she's been excellent as a single person and expects that she and Jake are divorcing.

Jake comes out of his coma; not only did he suffer from a gunshot to the chest, but suffered a head injury. He might not remember any after he says things like when Jake asked Laura to give him one last chance to be the husband and father he can be. Laura did admit that she still loves him. She tells her boyfriend that they might need a break, and he agrees and tells her that he'll be waiting.

Laura then comes in and sees how Jake doesn't remember that she brought his seat pillow to him. She walks out for a bit and sees everyone in the room that this family//this dysfunctional family is probably the best thing she has.

This episode starts quickly, like I saw in the previous episode, and then cuts to Laura in the ER. Emotions run high in the beginning for the first half hour. I couldn't get enough of Debra Messing's performance; she was in a more serious role.

It was a case of revenge from a mother who lost her child and wanted to take out the murderer that I didn't see coming.

Overall, I give this episode an 8/10; it was perfect. Robert Klein came back as Laura's father, funnier than ever. It wasn't a disappointment at all.

Overall, this season, I think it's been one of the best new series in a while. I don't care what other people may say about it. This series is excellent as it is. I find it to be like that Saturday Evening Mystery show. It's a simple series that you can sit, relax and follow. Debra Messing is unique, and so is this cast.

The series will return in the fall regularly, on Wednesdays at 8/7c, still part of the Woman Crush Wednesday with Law & Order: SVU and Chicago PD.

David Letterman: A Late Night Icon

As the hours countdown to minutes and those minutes countdown to seconds, we're not that far away from saying goodbye to a true late night icon, David Letterman.

David Letterman is a name that's been part of my life since I could really understand what Late Night was all about. I was around eight or nine-years of age when I first saw Letterman and the first impression that I got was that he looked a bit like my grandfather. Okay, maybe not to some but to the naked eye they do look alike.

When I first watched him, his jokes sounded angry and very sarcastic, but it was funny. He can make a joke into a conversation and it would be funny. If a bit doesn't go well, he can make it funny.

I've watched the Late Show during my childhood. I always stayed up til watch the Top Ten List or even when he was making funny of Dr. Phil and he had a segment called Dr. Phil's Words of Wisdom and it would just be hilarious. Hell, I would tape it and memorized it for class the next day and yes I did say what they played.

His style of comedy help me open up a bit and surprised mostly when I was in school. I was never a talkative person and using comedy kind of help open that wall of hiding and being afraid. I looked up to Letterman and also Jay Leno too for any comedy idea from their show and style.

And I can't forget another of Letterman's segments, Rupert Jee and his deli, who couldn't forget the things that Dave had him do. Oh my god, just think that Dave started that, not Ellen, even though she does it with celebrities.

Letterman isn't just a late night hose or a television personality, he's an icon. With Leno gone (one of my favorites too) that only left Letterman to be the top guy and only top guy America knows and understands. With the Jimmys and Colberts and all, there's no one that's quite like Dave and there will probably never will be one ever.

That one or many things that I would take from watching Letterman is that he's one of the best communicators on television. He's such a great interviewer, asking the hard questions, the questions that are the most interesting and questions about his guests life and work. That what makes Dave great.

Not to mention that when something bad has happen in the world like 9/11, Dave was there to give us some prospective of this tragic event. He's like our father figure.

And not forgetting that he created "Late Night" on NBC. He changed the landscape of late night television, creating that was opposite of what Carson's Tonight Show was then. Doing stupid and silly stuff was and still is smart, given way to three host of the franchise: Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.

Now that time is running ever so closure, truly it's an end of an era on late night.  I was too young when Carson left, I cried when Leno left for the second time and now this could be another tear-jerking night.

The Foo Foo Fighters will be the show's last musical guest. I have a feeling that somehow the Top Ten List will be of Letterman's close celebrity friends with a musical twist. The one thing I wish might happen but it would be a long, long, long shot that near the end after Letterman gives his final goodbye that his once best friend Jay Leno comes out, they shake hands and hug each other and Jay says to Dave, "Ready?" And they walkout as the two late night knights that they are.

As I said, that a very long shot.

Thanks Dave, your comedy has helped me through the rough times and the good times. A real showmanship, a comedian, a TV personality, a icon.  No other words can describe losing him expect, Thanks Dave!!

Chaos and Emotions are Everywhere: The Night Shift: Season Finale

This short recap is on the two episode season finale of The Night Shift. In this two-part episode, the night shifters not only deal with chaos in the ER but also in personal relationships and even dealing with a deadly sniper that's targeting the Night Shifters.

In the first episode, "Sunrise, Sunset" Topher and TC are over in Afghanistan trying to save and treat a friend that needs a new heart. The task of course is one hell of a dangerous missions, but TC does everything to get Topher's friend even if he has to treat him in the line of fire.

In the meantime, Paul and Krista have a  bit of a competition between one another when a call comes in about an car accident and needed two doctors. Jake and Paul out there and when Paul sees a victim stuck in  car that on fire. Paul goes to do what TC does and well causes his hand to get burned very badly. So badly that he was recommend to treating patients in and out.

Jordan, who's pregnant, dealing with a lot of stuff on this shift, one of them being that TC is over seas and the other a patient, who's a dropout to take care of her brother, who's also not happy with her. Taking care of this family really pushed her to help one another. But after treating her, Jordan talked with Scott who just settle with a father and son after a mistake from previous episode.

But than as Jordan and Scott talk, Jordan collapse and that's what brings us to the next episode.

In the episode "Darkest Before Dawn" we jump just a couple of minutes after previous episode. Topher and TC are back with Topher's friend and TC is on the edge to get to Jordan.

Jordan was not responsive but was breathing fine. Scott tells TC that she had a stroke and that it might be the cause from the pregnancy. TC and Scott does everything they could to save both Jordan and the baby.

Meanwhile, Topher and Scott try to get his friend up to transplant to get his new heart but there's an issue, he was spiking a 101 temperature. They try to find what's wrong with him and turns out that it was an bacteria or infection but it was his blood that needed plasma.

What Topher had done, has probably cause his marriage to go on the rocks. His wife comes tot he hospital and gives it to him that she's sick and tired of this crap. But later even though she's still mad, she picked him up and they drove to their daughter's recital.

The big story line was of the sniper, Jake and Gwen are in the line of fire of where the cops are at and soon they got the guy. The shooter was crazy enough to do crazy things. He even mention that there was a second shooter and there was when Jake and Gwen was treating him on scene.

Ragosa and Paul got to treat this outside patient that came in because she was pushed out from a shelter and that she's homeless that lived in her car. But from what we thought she was at the beginning, she turns out to be the shocking second sniper. She tired to take a stab at an officer in the ER but that was stopped by Ragosa. But as soon as Ragosa and Paul realized who she really was, they found her in a pool of blood on the floor, stabbed herself. She was saved.

But as for TC and Jordan, it took a turn for the worst. We got to see flashbacks of when, where and how they met, their first date and the break up. TC got a bit of dose of reality here and even pulled out the ring that he was going to purpose.

Scott had performed surgery on Jordan after a turn for the worst. Scott saved Jordan but not the baby. TC was a mess and broke down. Jordan did wake up and TC held Jordan and talked. Jordan mentions that she overheard him talking about purposing. And after that he pulls out the box and shows her, he ask her and she says.....

Well, we'll have to wait til season three to find out.

I thought that overall this season had a mixture of more relationship stories  and medical stories. It was a more balanced out than the first season. I really enjoyed this season.

There were some great performances from Jill Flnt and others. Some really good guest stars from Trace Adkins and even the First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden.

I can't wait to see what season three will bring. Hopefully there will be a yes at the beginning of the scene of he season opener. This is literally one of the first medical drama that I've enjoyed since the days of ER and House. But I shouldn't leave out Royal Pains too.

You can catch episodes of The Night Shift on NBC.com.

They're Back and Pitcher Than Ever: Pitch Perfect 2

Saw #PitchPerfect2 today and it was aca-hilarious all around.

Well, they'r back and pitcher than ever. The Bellas are back in this amazing new sequel in Pitch Perfect 2.

After winning three national championships, the Bellas performed at the Kennedy Center, until a wardrobe malfunction happen when Fat Amy was performing to "Wrecking Ball." It turned into a massive aca-scandal for the Bellas.

Facing suspension for their incident, they were taken out of their world tour and that they couldn't recruit anyone. This put a real damper with Chloe, but they find away to redeem themselves, by going to the World Championships and winning it.

Meanwhile Beca gets a call for an internship at a local record company, with so excitement she tries to keep it under wraps with the rest of the Bellas. In somewhat it turns out to be a complete drag but heck that's all internships.

With the Bellas trying to get back on top, a new student wants to come in and be part of the team. The new member Emily is dying to be a Bellas ever since her mother tells her how exciting it was when she was one.

As soon as Emily's a member of the group, they took a looked at the team that took their spot in the World Tour, a team from Germany named Das Sound Machine. As each group got to meet, they insult each other but only Beca can't do any insult but more of making complements.

With what Das Sound Machine could do, lip sync to dub sounds, it kind of gave the Bellas the idea that they need to step it up and do what Das are doing. That doesn't turn out to go the way they hoped. When they tried it in front of a group it wasn't pretty at all.

To redeem themselves from another disaster, Chloe got everyone to go to camp where a familiar face awaits them to help get back to what the Bellas do best.

After getting back their charm, Beca and the gang had an idea for a performance that will knock out the Machines. They performed a huge hit from Beyonce "Run the World" but also performed the song "Flashlight" that was one of the most beautiful songs in the movie.

Overall, I thought Pitch Perfect 2 was an amazingly hilarious film. There was so many one liner jokes, pop culture and even cultural jokes. Not only did Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick and Brittney Snow stole the film, Hana Mae Lee, John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks stole a lot too.  And I can't forget to mention how Hallie Steinfeld really brought something to the film and to the group.

I couldn't get enough of the Riff Offs in this movie. Seeing the Green Bay Packers was just mind-blowing of what they brought and how they brought it in the film. And the music, they sang some amazing songs from "We Belong," "My Lovin'," "Shake Your Booty," and "Before He Cheats."

There were scenes that I couldn't get weepy eyed at like when the group was out on a campfire and they the group sings "Cups" to Beca. That was just heartwarming and also their World Championship performance too. Also but I really do love the song "Flashlight." It's such a great song. The next "Cups" song.

All in all, it's two hours of fun, laughter and their are some emotional scenes in the film as well. It's two hours of non-stop aca-fun.

Pitch Perfect 2 is in theaters now!!

The Change in the Game: The Blacklist "Masha Rostova" Season

Holy crap! That's what came to my mind after watching the season finale of The Blacklist. After what we've been through this season, it's a totally game changing next season. But first let's take a recap what happen here.

Liz is wanted for the what is murder of the senator that was infected with the virus that she carried that the Cabal set up. With that going on, Red tells her that she needs to leave the Post Office but she wouldn't do it until she over heard Cooper and Connolly arguing about Liz and all of this mess they're in.

Just as Lix overheard she started t leave but by the time she gets to the the floor, she's caught by Connolly and the FBI. Liz is being questioned and is taken a blood test to see if she's psotivie for the virus. They ask her questions about her life like where she was born and her real name.

Liz's real name is Masha Rostova and she was born in Russia. They keep pushing her to give them the right answers. In the meantime, Cooper who was leave of his duties of the taskforce because he wouldn't do what Connolly ordered him to do, talks to Red about Liz and all of what happen.

Of course, Red always has a back up plan when it comes to getting someone out of this kind of mess. The power was off for 45 seconds which gave Liz plenty of time to get out quick. With the help of Cooper of getting out, she runs into Ressler who stands there and talks her down but lets her go.

Liz meets with Red and Cooper and discuss of what to do next. Tom calls and talks to Red about what he could do: take Liz and runaway on his boat. Of course Red doesn't think that's a good idea and doesn't require his service anymore. But Liz would anyway.

Liz and Cooper looking up footage at the Union Station where Liz got knocked down by the bio-scientist who transferred the virus into Liz. She get there and sees the guy there and we flashback of how it happen.

After seeing the footage, Cooper tells Liz that his wife is being indited for sharing classified documents. So Liz was on her own, not! She went to Tom at his boathouse and the two investigated an apartment where the scientist was staying at. When they got there, there was a laptop with a flash drive that Liz too.

But the guy was running away. Tom and Liz chase him til he was stop by two guys that clearly shot and killed him. Liz was upset. This hasn't been her day at all and with  everything that has been going down,

As Tom cleans Liz up, they start talking. Liz has regrets not saying yes to him. And one shocking moment came when we see them making out. But it was a great scene that went back and forth which was really good. It cut the time of talk and love down a full good scene.

After that night, Liz wakes up wand finds the flash drive in her shirt. She uploads it on the laptop and finds documents that say that Harold Cooper wasn't really sick. Boy did that give Cooper one hell of a scene to show his temper. HE went full Thor on that guy.

In the meantime, Red sets up this one time meeting, he had his men pick up the best investigative journalist around the country/world. He shows the files of the fulcrum and explains of it and the outcome of having the knowledge.

Cooper and Liz met with Connolly, who is a member of the Cabal, and try to threat him with everything they have on him but the guy wouldn't budge at all. He even threats that everyone will be in trouble by sending Samar back to Iran, and Ressler losing his job of his drug addiction. So Connolly called out their buff.

But Liz with a last attempt pulls her gun and points it at him. Cooper talks her down but it didn't do any good. Liz shot and killed Connolly. Now Liz Keen is wanted fugitive. By the way, Tom Connolly is on the blacklist at No. 11 so just to inform you all about that. There was a blacklister that has been taken down.

But then, as Liz shot Connolly, she had a flashback. It was that of the night of the fire. She calls Red and he meets with her at a location. Red calls for the Traveler and as Dembe drops him off with Liz. She tells him that she remembers it all. That she killed her father after seeing him and her mother fighting. So that probably gives in that Red isn't Liz's father. But I think there's a catch. We can't assume just yet.

Red, who looked sad, tells her that he failed to protect her from that. He mention that he's the sin-eater, which eats the sins off of others so they can be good. But in the final scene where Rocket Man was playing, Liz and Red get in a van and take off to wherever they are going. They are now on the run.

The Director got a surprised when he saw the newspaper of their investigation of a secret government.

And just before the scene cuts out, we see Ressler picking up a photo and walks past the crew. He places the photo of Liz on the board , noting that she is now the most wanted person in the country. Li also got her face on the FBI most wanted board in the FBI office.

And then we see Liz lay her head on Red and just watch them looking on.

This episode was simply amazing. It picked up from where we left off and it never stop going until near the end. There were times that I had to hold my breathe.

There were so many good scenes, Cooper's temper at the doctor, Liz escaping from the Post Office. But it was that near to last scene when Liz told Red that she remembers, when she tells him about it and the look on Red's face was just so sad and yet emotional too.

Embedded image permalink

The song choice at the end was perfect. It was enough to give us a taste of what's to come. This was a game changer now. Red isn't the most wanted anymore, it's Liz. Now whatever will happen next season should be excited to see.

I give this episode a 10/10. It was simply incredible. Megan Boone was just phenomenal in this episode. It's one of her best performance this season.

Overall this season, it started off strong and it ended strong. This season so far was at it's best. The writing, the characters and production couldn't have been any better. I literally can't wait for season three to start. I'm dying to know what the trailer would be.

The Blacklist will return in fall.

What's your thoughts? Did you like how the story changed? Looking forward to season three?

The Shocked and Stunned: Wednesday Night Drama

The Mysteries of Laura: "The Mystery of the Deceased Documentarian"

This episode went from solving a cold case to one of the most shocking endings in it's series so far and it leads to what I think will be a great and thank god a season finale.

When a bike messenger was looks to be delivering something get shots. Laura and the gang investigates that this murder isn't just about a message.

As the investigation goes, the victim turns out to be a filmmaker who was solving a crime that had happen 15 years ago. The victim made a film and sent it to a film festival but was rejected. Laura and Jake got to show a screening of it to the public and interviewed the folks who were there, that included the cold case victim's boyfriend.

But as their investigation goes on, there's someone who's also trying to solve the crime too. Casey, who's went to the same high school and is a podcast crime investigator, that's like Serial.

When you think that they found the killer who be the guy who hung himself in the flower shop, but as Laura would think it that if there's no note, it's not a suicide.

Laura and the gang dig deeper and that lead to going to the film festival that was going on in New York City and get the original copy of the bike messenger's movie. When looking at the final two minutes of it, Laura knows who the killer is.

That lead to the suspect's wife to come down and file paperwork to claim the earrings that apparently were left in the victim at the flower shop. Until Frankie gave the wife the wrong forms and she started to call her husband but didn't answer.

The suspect was at Casey's house being interviewed on her live podcast. When Laura made a phone, she talks to them and well, Casey did what Casey would do, spill out that he did it. The suspect gets mad but as Laura talks him down that his ex-girlfriend had cheated on him.

The suspect was taken down as Billy and Frankie got there. But it would be Casey that probably needed the protection from Laura.

Near the end of the episode, Laura and Jake have a moment. Laura is buying a summer house for the kids and her boyfriend. Jake doesn't feel like he'll be part of their kids lives after this but Laura tells him that he will always be. That lead to Jake going to the bar and joining him was Frankie. They talk about their plans and that freaky lamp that she brought in and sold.

But the shocking moment came when Jake went to a grocery store. He's looking for some zingers and when all of the sudden a robber comes in and demanded money. Jake gets ready to take the suspect down when a lady comes in and scared. The suspect points the gun and Jake takes the bullet for her and the suspect leaves.

Jake is on the floor shot in the chest. That was the most shocking and dramatic moment in the series so far and I think that come next week's season finale that it will be even more dramatic and a bit emotional as well.

I have to say I didn't see that ending coming at all. Yeah I'm feeling bad for Jake after that talk with Laura. He hopes that they would get back together and be together forever.

This episode had some funny moments. I enjoyed Melissa Joan Hart being the "Serial" character in this episode. It was so cool seeing Clarissa on the show.

I give this episode a 8/10. I think that this was pretty good episode. The one thing I literally take out of this episode was the shocking ending. and I'll just say this that thank god that next week is the season finale and not the series finale.

You can catch the season finale of The Mysteries of Laura next Wednesday at 8/7c on NBC.

Chicago PD: "Push the Pain Away"

After the aftermath of the death of Nadia, Erin isn't doing well to coup the lost. She went to see her mother, at a local bar where she works and drinks away.

I think I would know for a fact that Voight told Bunny to stay away from Erin. Can't stop a mother for loving and caring for her daughter.

In the meantime, a case for the intelligence takes on a group of guys who want nothing but justice for what this chemical company had done to one of the suspect's little girl.

These gone in a YMCA and goes on a rampage but not like you would think. They planned it and shot only less than seven people.

Voight and Al talk to one of the suspects that was caught. Voight talks to him but doesn't budge at all. So, when Atwater and Roman takes a look underneath the highway, they spot a bullet case and soon sees a camera.

When they play back the video, the suspects had taken off in a garbage truck not even five minutes ago. Atwater ran towards and demanded an officer's car. Roman and Atwater chase the truck and it stops in a building. They hold fire until everyone gets there.

Voight talks to Erin after a quick brief with the Captain on the back story of these suspects. Voight doesn't want Erin to spin out. This is after Erin was dragging from a hangover.

Erin and Ruzek interviews the company executive and his lawyer. After dodging the question of why these guys would be going after these people. Erin goes off and the executives decline to talk any more.

Later on, Voight talks with the suspects, they have hostages and demanded things that they want in 30 minutes. Voight tells them the truth that they can't get it in that amount of time. The suspect tells Voight that he'll take out a hostage if their demands aren't meant. When Voight got a feeling after that conversation, he goes out there without a bulletproof vest and his gun and walks out there.

He talks to them Voight to Suspect, as Voight does best. He ask to see the hostages so he knows that they're safe. They show him one and takes them back. Then Voight starts talking and with an earpiece, Erin tells him the story of these guys.

Voight talks to one of them and walks a bit back near the open, which gave Halstead a clear shot to shoot the suspect. And after that Voight takes the other one down after the guy gave him a couple of hits.

But with these guys caught there's still one more that's out there. And it's a younger suspect that they're after. Burgess found out that she cleared the suspect because he didn't have gun residue on him. They got the idea of who the suspect is going after.

They get to the executive's board meeting where they search the place for the suspect. Erin goes by herself into through the kitchen and in the halls until the suspect puts a gun on her head. Erin talks to him and from what I got I think she took it behind too far when she tells him to shoot her. Bold but smart because the suspect wouldn't do it.

After that Erin just left and we see her talking with her mother again at the bar. As Bunny gives Erin her drink, she starts talking about an old boyfriend that she use to go out with long ago. Well, that turned out to be bad news as they went to his apartment and well, let's just say that there were drugs on the table.

Erin has really gone to the dark side. She blames herself for Nadia's death. We'll get a bit more next week of where she's going and what she's probably going to do. She might rethink her career. Who knows?

Overall I enjoyed this episode. I was at time on the edge of my seat. There were some tense moments in this episode. For one, Erin and telling that guy to shoot her. The way she was telling him I had no idea if she was playing him or telling him to do it.

It felt kind of weird seeing that Burgess and Atwater switch spots this week. Burgess hopes that she stays with the team but soon Atwater will be cleared from his accident last week and will be back with Intelligence and Burgess back with Roman.

Overall I give this episode a 8/10. IT was very good.

Next week is the season finale of Chicago PD. It's one finale that we can't miss at all. Along with Mysteries of Laura and Law & Order SVU, it's literally called Season Finale Wednesday.

You can catch the season finale of Chicago PD next Wednesday at 10/9c on NBC.

Look I'ts Supergirl!!!

Checkout the trailer for Supergirl that will come to CBS on Monday nights this November.

I'm very much liking it so far. I can't wait to see where this story will be going. Calista Flockhart looks amazing and totally badass as Cat Grant, Kara's boss.

Melissa Benoist looks very cool and interesting as Kara Zor-El. She looks a bit like Barbara Gordon, which I hope those two meet later on if this series goes far.

Jimmy Olsen is in this series as well. And is best friends with Superman that he gives Kara the blanket that came with him when he was a baby in that space shuttle, which will turn into Supergirl's cape.

I'm looking forward to this series. This will be on the same time as Gotham that's on FOX but the difference is that at least we get to see the superhero. As I said before I can't wait to see where this series will go. What villains will she face and issues that will follow.

This show will be on my list to watch this fall and probably on my DVR.

Supergirl debut on Monday nights this fall to CBS.

UPDATE: CBS has announced that the series premiere will air Monday, Oct. 26 at 8:30/7:30c right after an episode of "Big Bang Theory" and then will move to it's regular time Monday, Nov. 2nd at 8/7c.
