Callback: Chicago Fire "Funny What Things Remind Us"

After this week's episode of Chicago Fire, I craved donuts.

"Funny What Things Remind Us" might be one of my favorite episodes of the season so far, with not only the drama between the two  Kidd-Severide and Brett-Casey but also the human story that Boden took in this episode. Plus, Mouch gets outmatched against an old rival firefighter.

Let's start with  Boden because this was one of my favorite storylines in this episode; I was assigned headquarters after checking Lockout closed homes and bordered them up. He gets Severide to help, and as they check on one house, they meet someone who tells them they belong there.

Afterward, being taken to Med, Boden and Severide tried to find out who the guy was after telling them a number. That happened to be the guy's badge number, as he was a police officer and got a hold of his wife. The officer has dementia, and the reason why he walks to that home is because it was the first house he bought for his wife. Plus, Boden bonds with him as a reminder of his father, who was a police officer too.

S pushed his luck with Stella once again, trying to avoid her while she was training for the lieutenant exam. Stella thinks that he's moving her away. I don't blame her for thinking of that again. He had the chance to tell her right there, but instead, he meant she didn't need his help for the exam.

After working with Boden and helping with the officer, Severide tries to make amends with Stella at the loft, but she isn't there. She's staying the night at Brett's apartment. Severide, you pushed too far here.

On the other hand, Brett and Casey. The two might have stayed neutral colleagues, but after a call, Casey, who saved a woman from a car crash, gets her number and asks if he would be up for a date. Brett, who sees the interaction, gets a bit jealous (if you call it), while Brett meets with a firefighter from another firehouse, who's interested in asking Brett out and makes Casey a bit jealous, too.

Is it weird that Casey can find someone outside the firehouse, but Brett keeps finding firefighters? She did have that real estate guy last season but turned him down to see where her feelings with Casey were going. All in all, this is going to be fun. But it looks like Casey could be in with this lady for now.

The fun moment in this episode comes when, after the car crash, as Truck 81 is cleaning up, Mouch reunites with an old rival, which fuels the feud again. Mouch gets back by placing a donut sign at the guy's firehouse while the guy comes back with free donuts at house 51.

In return, Mouch and Truck 81 dumped a massive truckload of day-old donuts in front of the firehouse for him to clean up. But the white flag was drawn when donuts got left on Firehouse 51 from a helicopter. Man, that was too much fun, but I craved donuts after this episode.

Not to mention, Gallo saves Mackey from a blast during a rescue. Mackey gave the idea to Gallo that she has kids, but instead, she's taken care of kids as in daycare. Also, a moment with Cruz was good until Gallo asked if he could take her out, and that moment went away quickly.

I loved this episode so much. The Boden police officer storyline was so damn good that it had such a solid emotional human story impact that Chicago Fire has always given us these past nine seasons. And the Mouch story balanced out with humor and wit that Fire has always won over.

As for Kidd and Severide, I don't blame Kidd for thinking about what's been going on with Severide. But what if he tells her in the next few episodes, and while she still might be mad at him, she takes his advice and trains her most challenging for the exam? And if she passes the test, Severide comes with a ring asking her to marry her. Just a theory!

As for Brett and Casey, this will be fun for the rest of the season. And I'm on the ride to see where this will be going. I'm getting just too emotionally invested in this story, along with Halstead and Upton from PD.

Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

What did you think of the episode? Do you believe Severide will tell Kidd the truth about what's going on? Will she understand him? Leave a comment below!

You can catch Chicago Fire on Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and all episodes on PeacockTV.com.
