It's been a dilemma since Season Seven, but the question remains that has me going back and forth: Should Sylvie Brett and Matt Casey be in a relationship?
Since the episode in season seven where the spin cycle instructor told Brett that she and Casey were meant for each other, that pretty much got the ball rolling with #Brettsey. At first, I was all for it, but when Gabby Dawson returned and that one night with Casey, things took a back seat.
In my head, questions pop up like what happens if Gabby comes back and reveals to Casey that she had that child and it's his. It seems far-fetched to go on with this show, but things could happen. Heck, we thought he would have a child, but it turned out it wasn't his.
And there's the friendship that, why ruin, the best company these two wouldn't do for helping each other after a traumatic call, like Casey almost getting his head blown away or Brett reuniting and losing her mother. Why ruin a good thing going, right?
And there are these music videos on YouTube of them from scenes that have been fueling me to get me thinking that they should be a couple. It's just wild!
But let's not shine away from this: they both ended their relationship with the Dawson siblings on a rocky but mutual breakup. Brett and Casey connected with a TV series (Emergency) during that game night.
So, after last week's season premiere, I think I've decided where I stand on this. I can't deny that scene of Brett and Casey at her apartment playing Heads Up was the nail in the coffin that I want them to be in a relationship, and hopefully a long term at that, like Severide and Kidd.
Plus, I know that this week's episode will determine whether or not they share their feelings, and the latest promo doesn't shine away from it.
So, as of now, I'm on the entire board with #Brettsey.
Was I crazy about going back and forth on this? What do you guys think? Are you all in for #Brettsey or not? Leave a comment below!
The fall finale of the Chicago Fire was one to remember for all the right reasons and more.
While cleaning up the firehouse, Cruz finds an old drone that belongs to Otis and is determined to fly it once more. But as Cruz tries to fix it, he tells Ritter that the reason why he's doing this is that he was the one who hid the drone. After repairing the new part, something was still wrong, and when he checked it on the computer to find a video of him and Otis about to fly the drone with "Best Friend Magic."
The story that we've been waiting for since the rumors and news broke was the return of Dawsey. Let me say that this episode wasn't a disappointment. Dawson returns to Chicago for a fundraiser but stops at Firehouse 51 to see Otis' memorial. After Casey and Truck 81's skyscraper rescue, Casey and Dawson have a moment to talk, but he gets invited to a charity event she's attending to get donors.
After thinking it over and asking advice from Brett, Casey went and had a ball dancing and learned that Dawson wanted to come to Chicago. As Casey and Dawson danced away, the two returned to her hotel and had a one-nighter. Just before she leaves, Dawson leaves a message for Casey, offering to come to help her out. It doesn't look like it's the end for Dawsey. That worries me.
Kidd shows off that she can handle the workload of driving Truck 81 and being at the academy. But it does have a toll, and it shows when Brett and Foster order her to go home to rest, and as she drives off, she hits a van with a mother and daughter inside. After learning that the mother and child are okay, Bowden sees the effects both jobs have on Kidd and tells her that he's going to help change that for her and the rest of the future trainers.
Severide opens up another arson case that proves a guilty man innocent that involves a company burning down their property for insurance. After getting Casey's input on it, Severide and the team get the help of the SWAT and CPD detective to raid the suspect's whereabouts at an abandoned warehouse, where Severide finds the suspect in the basement. And we leave the episode with the suspect holding a firestick and Severide one-on-one in a dangerous basement.
"Best Friend Magic" delivered more than what I had expected. This episode was well written, with character growths packed with suspense and emotions. The Dawson and Casey might have been the episode's highlight, but I give Cruz's story the winner as it was powerfully well written, mainly at the end when Cruz sees that video of him and Otis.
While the Casey-Dawson gave me chills and emotions, that moment when they danced took me to breathe away in more ways than one. And I think this won't be the last time we see Dawson. And the Kidd storyline was good and, I believe, an educated moment as well. And Severide is leaving with an intense cliffhanger. OMG!! Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
You can catch the winter premiere of Chicago Fire tonight at 9/8c on NBC.
If you haven't seen the season finale of Chicago Fire, you shouldn't read this til you have due to spoilers.
Seems that there could be some big changes for Firehouse 51.
TVLine has learned that Chicago Fire star Monica Raymund, who plays Gabby Dawson on the hit NBC firefighter drama, is not expected to return for Season 7.
In the season 6 finale, which aired Thursday, set up Raymund's potential exit, when Dawson was approached to join a team of volunteer paramedics to help out in the hurricane-torn Puerto Rico.
It's been previously reported that both leading men Jesse Spencer and Taylor Kinney have already signed deals to return next season. Eamon Walker will be back along with Kara killmer, Miranda Rae Mayo, Christian Stolte, Joe Minoso and Yuri Sardarov, that's been reported by Deadline. But contract talks are still in play with David Eigenberg, though he is expect to return.
News about Raymund's eit from the show comes just days after NBC renewed Fire, PD and Med for the 2018-2019 season.
If you thought that after five seasons, the flames of the Chicago Fire would be considered down, you thought wrong, my friend. Season 6 of the hit NBC show has kept the fire burning with fresh and gripping.
Season 6 started where we left off at the end of Season 5 with Casey, Severide, Herrmann, and Mouch trapped in a factory fire. All summer, we'd asked that question: who will survive? Well, everyone stays on the fire after Boden orders the water cannons. Casey gets rewarded a medal for saving a life while trapped in that fire, not to mention getting bumped up to Captain at House 51.
It does put a strain on the relationship between Gabby and Casey due to the fact of what she went through, wondering if he was going to come back alive or not. But also Gabby's dad becomes a total pain for Casey. But when Gabby's dad tried to get a project going, he needed Casey's help at City Hall, but he wouldn't do it. After telling him no, Gabby gets a call about a stabbing at an L track, which happens to be her dad. He survives and takes well with the glory, but maybe he's finally come to his senses.
Throughout the season, the folks at Firehouse 51 dealt with a whole lot of stuff, from an arson fire at Dona's school to dealing with the chain of common between Casey and Severide, which carries on throughout the first half of the season.
Gabby helps a kid out, who at first was at a clinic fire and stealing meds—then tried to help her with her father being a pain addict due to a work injury. When the dad OD, Gabby, and Severide help out, the kid runs off because she doesn't want to go through DCFS. Gabby spends her time searching for her as her father is recovering. When she finds her, she takes her to see her father but also tries to get DCFS to let the girl stay with her and Casey til dad gets well. Let's say it went smoothly, thanks to Casey.
In the meantime, Kidd moves in with Severide after she gets kicked out of her place due to the difference in paying rent. It seemed like these two might restart their relationship, but it doesn't, and Kidd gets into a relationship with a HAZMAT team member. But there's something, and I think that these two will restart their relationship again.
Britt has had a good season so far with her on-again relationship with Antonio and then calling it off again. But I think they'll get back together again; the third time is the charm. She gets a visit from her best friend from her hometown and doesn't get that her friend is trying to steer Kidd away from the firehouse due to her feelings for Severide. Trying to be a helping hand to all, she plays with Kidd's paycheck that doesn't show up. But when word that Kidd was being transferred without Kidd's knowing, Casey figured out that someone forged the signature, which turns out was Britt's friend. And with the help of Miss. Connie, it's bye-bye!
Throughout the season, the relationship between Casey and Severide has been bouncing back and forth, with Casey being named Captain and all. But when Severide gets a visit from his mentor, he tries to push Severide that he should be the Captain, not Casey. After one incident, Casey might be in trouble with his decision-making during a car accident. Casey gets misquoted by Severide's mentor; things get heated again for the two. But when Severide gets word about accommodation for his work, he turns it down. But it turns out that Casey was the one who filed the paperwork on that.
In the last episode before the Winter Olympics, Casey and Severide were to turn off the gas pressure at the factory, but it wouldn't turn anymore. Casey and Severide decide to jump off the roof of the building like Thema and Louis or Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, and well, all we know is they landed in the water and have to turn in tonight's return at 10/9c on NBC.
So far, Season 6 of Chicago Fire has been a blast with gripping storylines and well-developed characters. The cast is on their feet regarding their performances throughout this season. With many dramatic moments, there are plenty of humorous moments, making Fire one of the best shows on Thursday night. I can't wait to see what the rest of season six will bring with Severide's mother coming, not to mention his ex-girlfriend, who said he was having his child at the end of season one and the beginning of season two, but it turned out it wasn't.
Overall, Chicago Fire this season is 8.5/10.
You can catch Chicago Fire when they return tonight at 10/9c on NBC.
With just a week and two days away til the anticapted season premiere of Chicago Fire. Here's a sneak peak of what to expect for the new season, even with the new night and time.
The new season of Chicago Fire begins on a new night, Thursday, Sept. 28th at 10/9c on NBC.
Chicago Fire premiered last week, opening the floodgates of some great theater.
The premiere picks off the following day. Severide and Kidd are awake, and nothing seems to happen, even though Kidd's ex was in the apartment while they were there. Kidd gets the message from Dr. Charles about him and soon tells Severide about it.
Dawson and Casey are handling parenthood well. They seem to get the ring to it. After a call of a bus and getting hit with a pipe from a fired-up garbage truck, Dawson couldn't get the thoughts of what would happen if something happened to her or Casey. And with that in mind, what will happen to Louie now that he's in their lives?
With that in mind, Boden and Jimmy quickly butted heads. They've been in his office more than three times to talk, and the last one drew fire on Boden as Jimmy wanted to go back on the truck. he declined to do that, but Jimmy handed him a complaint file.
Boden confronted Jimmy in the office, and after a warning, Jimmy gave him one hell of a standstill. Boden's boss dismissed his request about Jimmy returning, and Jimmy returned to Truck 81.
But with Jimmy gone and back on Truck 81, that leaves an opening for the paramedic. And the right person came back for the job, Dawson. Dawson and Britt are back together again, and this time, Dawson gets to drive the truck, as Shay wouldn't let her (and it made me wonder if Shay did that).
Dawson and Britt's first call was a gunshot victim, and while trying to treat him, the people were getting a bit rowdy. But Antonio came to the rescue, calmed the folks, and helped get the victim to the ambulance, where the victim was his CI. But there was a glace from Britt looking at Antonio and even him. Here's the romance starting up!! Will it still happen when he goes to Chicago Justice? I wonder.
Britt has found these fantasy firefighter stories, some fictional and the rest of it hot and steamy fictional fantasy. The names in the stories seem familiar, and everyone wonders who wrote them. But Britt figured out that Mouch wrote it, and the two agreed to write together some of the best hot fantasy firefighter stories ever. I hope they come out with it in bookstores.
As the day was ending, Kidd, working at Molly's, was taking stuff to the garbage can until her ex was there and calling her names. Holding a knife, he screams and all that, but Severide stops him, and the two fight. Trying to stab Severide, he gets knocked down, and Severide picks up what looks like a stick and knocks him down, but it must have had something sharp at the end because Kelly sliced his throat, and both Kidd and Severide looked at each other.
This season's premiere was excellent. Never held back, the writing was terrific, and the performances from some of the cast members were outstanding once again. Steven McQueen and Eamonn Walker were fantastic, with the two characters on the edge (mostly Jimmy).
Severide will be in trouble again, even though he defended himself and Kidd. I question whether Casey will still run for office. And, of course, Dawson and Britt are a good match; I can't wait to see where this will lead.
Overall, this episode is a 9.5/10.
You can catch Chicago Fire on Tuesday nights at 10/9c on NBC.
