NBC cancels Great News

Image result for Great News

Well the fate of Great News has came down and it ain't great news.

On Friday, NBC has cancelled the Tina Fey produced workplace comedy after two seasons.

Great News wasn't a ratings winner this season as NBC placed it after Will and Grace Thursday night comedy lineup. Only averaging 3 million total viewers and 0,7 in demos in it's second season.

The comedy starred Briga Heelan as cable news producer Katie Wendelson, whose life was turned upside down when her mother (played by Andrea Martin) scored a gig as an intern at her station. The cast also includes Adam Campbell, Nicole Richie, Horatio Sanz, (Creator) Tracey Wigfield and John Michael Higgins.

This is of course sad news to hear about as it was one of my favorite new shows of the last year. The show was amazing with it's cast, writing and just plan hilarious. But now, the show will always be part of my DVR/Digital Show's List to watch.

Fire Burns Brighter: Chicago Fire Recap (Episodes 16-21)

Image result for Chicago Fire "The Strongest Among Us"

Before tonight's two-hour season finale of Chicago the Fire, and since I have been behind on the recaps for Fire this television season, I try my best to help catch everyone up.

Let's start with the shock that Otis might not be with Firehouse 51, let alone drive Truck 81 anymore. Yes, there were times when I thought that he could no longer be with the team. But as Otis works his butt off doing psychical therapy, he feels some competitiveness when another fireman comes into the house, Cordova, who doesn't show a whole lot of compassion for the team that's thinking about their friend.

But as time goes on, Otis, who takes over half the duty from Miss. Connie gets his results from physical therapy, and at first, it doesn't look too good due to him pushing himself hard to get back, but after the next test, he finally passes and is welcomed back to Truck 81. But it puts both Otis and Kidd to compete against each other to be the driver of 81, which leads to both of them agreeing to an understanding.

Meanwhile, there has been some history between Cordova and Dawson, and it wasn't too good for Casey when he learns it from a second hand. It puts a damper between them, but when Dawson helps Bria with her prom, it seems to bring them close together and start discussing having children again.

Severide and Kidd's relationship has been a ride to watch from each episode. Taking things nice and easy, it turns awkward when Kelly's mother comes by to visit and reconnect with Benny. After knowing that Kelly could be like his dad, Kidd decides to move out to live in Herrmann's place, but that all changes when Kelly stops her and brings her back. But if you think that it ended there, it didn't, as last week Rene came back and put some reconnecting between her and Severide.

But could Boden be leaving 51 as he puts his hat in the ring after a strong convincing of Severide and Casey to get everyone to support it for the new CFD commissioner? But someone else has decided to put his name in the hat, Grissom.

So far this season, Fire has been on the ball with solid stories and fantastic character development. I've been amazed at what this season has been, and with the news last night of all Chicago shows being renewed, I'm sure after tonight's finale, we can't wait to see where we are headed for next season.

You can catch the Chicago Fire season finale tonight at 9/8c on NBC!

Edge of Your Seat Event: Chicago Fire "Looking For a Lifeline"/"The Chance to Forgive" 2-Hour Movie Event

Image result for Chicago Fire "Looking for a Lifeline"

You know when a show does a two hour event, you know it's pretty serious that everyone must tune in. This one was one of those events not to miss.

The start of the 2 hour Chicago Fire event started off like any other episode, but when a call comes in of a car accident, Casey seems to think it was more than just an accident. After trying to help the husband and wife, the husband seemed to leave without medical treatment. Casey suspects that the accident was a cry for help from the wife and by the way of her husband treats her I wouldn't argue with that assessment.

Trying to get Antonio and Burgess to help and even Casey telling from his own perspective of seeing spouse abuse, but she would't admit to it. That was until Firehouse 51 gets a call from the same house of the couple and sees that she's sitting on the couch and her husband knocked out on the floor upstairs. She admits to Casey that she did it in a way.

Meanwhile, the Brettonio storyline would keep us on the edge when Brett, who's been feeling not herself, might be pregnant and gets support from Dawson. But after taking a pregnancy test, it turns out that she isn't pregnant, but does that still mean she still loves Antonio?

The business of Cruz's invention goes to everyone's head and Cruz wants to have control over it because it's his and Brett's invention.

But it's when Firehouse 51 gets a call of a house fire but when Kidd and Otis head upstairs, gunshots seem to be firing, hitting Otis and Kidd. Apparently the kid of the house had store books of gun bullets that are going off from the fire. But both Kidd and Otis are helped out and taken to Med, with Kidd being okay thanks to her radio, but Otis got it worst when the bullet hit his neck. After surgery, seems that Otis could be looking at a long recovery.

Meanwhile, seeing that Kidd might want to leave Severide's place, Casey pushes him to move forward with their relationship. Plus after the pregnancy test came out negative, Brett still have feelings for Antonio but before she could ever tell him about it, she learns from him that someone had set him up on a blind date, which probably killed the #Brettonio for now.

"Looking For a Lifeline" and "The Chance to Forgive" was a two hour roller coaster ride of intense, emotionally moments with those humorist moments. It was worth putting this two episode into a two hour spot. The performance from the cast was once again great along with the writing of the episode. Overall, I give this episode event a 910.

You can catch Chicago Fire Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC.

Pain and Suffering Chicago PD "Homecoming" Season Finale

Image result for chicago pd homecoming

Okay, guys, let's take a breath in and out. This existed a biggie of a season finale of an episode than before. So, let's get to it.

After getting a quick recap of how we got here, as Voight is about to tell what happened to Woods, he receives a call about how Al is at Med with severe stab wounds. Voight gets there, and just as he sees Al, tells him he's going to make it, but as we wait, wait, and wait, Voight finds the surgeon and asks about Al, for which he had died.

After informing the team, who's in disbelief, they pull every heart and energy to find the man who killed Al. My first suspect would be the man who put Al in jail, but we'll get to that later. In the meantime, the team set up shop at the county jail and found out from security tapes that it was a set up by the security guard, letting the man who stabbed Al get to do it. Voight had some lesser words for the man who stabbed Al, even if he wasn't answering questions.

It all laid down to a man getting even with Al for arresting his cousin on gun charges for carrying them for his business and led to trying to get to the man's home, but all there was was his wife and mother-in-law. But Voight didn't get any answers from the wife, but Burgess and Upton got it. The team went to the warehouse, where they took down the leader and his men. Voight had a one-on-one with the man who called for Al's death and shot him twice, knowing that he had a gun, but that's not what two witnesses saw across the way, and even Antonio didn't see it, but I'm sure he still had Voight's back.

In the meantime, with Al gone and Voight's confession out, Woods gets word from the ASA that an eyewitness saw Voight take out the man who shot his son from the bar. Woods gets her information and meets with her, and after hearing her story, he takes it and fixes it, taking her phone jewelry and giving her money. Soon, Woods phones Voight for a meeting, and after talking about how these two got here, knowing each other for over 30 years, Voight admits that he isn't a dirty cop but is the one person who will do anything to protect the city. So Woods tells Voight about a witness who had come forward seeing him taking away the man who killed his son, and Voight returns with how he finds her with a surprised look. Voight finally got the SOB and was taken away thanks to the ASA and Katie (the so-called witness).

But after all that has happened, it was the last few minutes of the emotionally powerful episode, watching Voight grieve, apologizing to Al for all that has happened while drinking on the roof. You see the pain that has finally boiled that he lets his emotions out by punching the door, crying, and screaming; it is unlike anything we saw Voight do in the past five seasons.

"Homecoming" might be ranked as one of the best season finales of CPD in the series. It leads with so much emotion and intensity, from the death of Al to finding the killer to even getting Woods to come down from his mighty sword. The writing was outstanding for this episode and throughout the season, and that closed the chapter of this season's story arc. Some episodes put characters like Voight on the verge (like his son's death), but this one took the cake, and Jason Beghe gave one of his best performances as Voight in the series. I'll be honest: I thought when I saw Voight on Chicago Fire that he was a dirty cop, but after the backdoor episode and the first season of CPD, I had a change of heart.

Overall, I give this episode a 10/10 and the season overall a 9.5/10.

Just as the episode ended, word came out that all Chicago series (Fire, PD, and Med), along with SVU, have been renewed for another season (which we all knew would happen).

You can catch episodes of Chicago PD on demand, NBC.com, and the NBC app, with the new season coming this fall.

Clever Play Dad! The Blacklist "Nicholas T. Moore (No. 110)"

Image result for The Blacklist "Nicholas T. Moore"

If there's one thing to get Liz to take a Blacklist case, that's to fool her pretty well, and this week's that one.

His doctor sidelines reduce the after suffering a concussion from the car accident that Garvey had caused. Red and Liz discuss searching for the bag for their purpose, but Red puts away a newspaper with a headline about a child found in the forest. Liz thinks it contains Red finding the bag of bones, but it is his clever way of getting her to take a case and for him to meet with his long-lost daughter.

The case that Liz and the FBI take on a cult is that an author has people believing that the events in it are actual. If someone escapes and is found, they must be burned due to the virus they have contained. But when the girl gets kidnapped from the hospital, Samar gets close enough to the suspect, but instead of taking down the guy, she's taken too. Aram is in full worried mode and tries to get Samar back, but after taking down Nicholas Moore and his cult, there is no sign of Samar, which means she is still kidnapped.

Meanwhile, going against his doctor's advice and Liz's, too, Red tries to meet with Jennifer, but she doesn't want to meet with him. But that all changed when she arranged a meeting with him, and in exchange for the location of where Gravey might have done with the bones, she wanted answers to why he left her and her mother. He explains the best he can how he was trying to go against the criminal organization The Kabul. But after all that, she doesn't believe it to be to save her and her mother as she tells him about Naomi, who had died a couple of years ago, and takes him to her grave. After taking him there, Red learns that Garvey went to Costa Rica and booked a flight there, but instead of going, he gets stopped by Liz, who not only wants to go but asks for his help to find Samar.

"Nicholas T. Moore" was another fantastic episode, mainly the story between Red and Jennifer, which was solid and asolidlling but ended with a heartbreaking note of the death of Naomi. The performance between Spader and Fiona Dourif was terrific. Also, Amir Arison gave a strong performance, seeing his character jump out of his shell to save Samar. As much as there have been a couple of times Aram has done that kind of thing, it still reminds me of when he was protecting Liz from The Director in Season 3. I wonder if this guy who has taken Samar is just a random person or is part of a known criminal organization that, for some reason, got a tip from Garvey about the bag of bones. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10,

You can catch The Blacklist Wednesday at 8/7c on NBC.

Wake Up Call: Chicago Med "Crisis of Confidence"

Image result for Chicago Med "Crisis of Confidence"

When Rhodes puts himself on the line to save two people, he must make a difficult decision. Plus, could something be in the future for #Manstead? Here's a recap!

We can all agree that since Robin left, Rhodes has been on a dare, deviling decisions to save patients' lives, and what happened Tuesday night proves that he can't pull off all those miracles. When a pregnant mother comes in with a defective heart, the only way that seems to be easy is to abort the baby and fix her heart, but Rhodes thinks he can save both, which turns out not to be the case, and both the patient and baby died.

The patient's mother gives Rhodes one of the most challenging moments he has confronted, which is that it's his fault. It carries on towards the twin's separation rundown and tells Dr. Latham and Bekker that he can't help and wants to be removed from the group.

Ethan gets a call from his sister, Emily, after someone at a party that she was attending overdosed. But the question of what was he overdosing turns into questioning Emily about how pain meds were missing from last week's trauma event. April asks Ethan, and he questions Emily about it, but it turns out that she really did steal the pills and sell them. But by the time the truth came out from the patient, Emily was long gone to Vegas.

Meanwhile, Dr. Charles gets a letter with a note about Dr. Reese's father, along with news clippings that point to his involvement in murdering a college student. He didn't want to jump the gun, but he snoops around when he helps Reese grab a few things at her dad's apartment, where he spots a photo of the same college student in the clippings. Sharon tries to get him to get the police involved, but when he looks at Reese's father's storage locker, he sees things from books, photos, and clothes.

To the fans of #Manstead, after an emotional moment from last week's episode, Natalie and Halstead take care of a young patient who's having trouble breathing. Natalie and Will try to find the cause of the illness, but her decision, at first, doesn't seem to work until it actually does, and both she and Will share the moment. It made Will think it might be that time he asked Jay for their mother's ring to pop the question.

"Crisis of Confidence" was another marvelous episode that was tense and tense, with joyous moments. The episode had solid character development, pushing characters to memorable moments. Rhodes g, for a while after undergoing dangerous procedures that saved lives, now gets a bit of a wake-up call. I don't think he'll get over it in next week's season finale, but never say never about a surgeon; this is Conner Rhodes. Dr. Charlies is now in dangerous waters, searching for Dr. Reese's father's stuff.

And speaking of Halstead, is a #MansteadWedding possible? I would love to have it, but it might be too soon to think about it. She's not ready if he does pop the question. And just when you think someone could change,, they don't,, and I wanted Ethan to be proven wrong about his sister that she could change from what he had been saying about her. The writing was strong, and the performances from the cast were as good but not close to last week's episode. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch the season finale of Chicago Med next Tuesday at 10/9c on NBC.

NBC Renews A.P. Bio & Loads Up on New Comedies

Image result for NBC AP Bio

Well, it looks like we're in for a second helping of Mr. Griffin's non-learning learning of biology.

It was announced Tuesday by TVLine that NBC has renewed A.P. Bio for a second season. The Howerton (It's Always Sunny i Philadelphia) stars as sweater-loving philosoph professor Jacck Griffin, who's reduced to teaching a high school biology after losing out on his dream job. It also co-stars Patton Oswalt as weak-willed principal Ralph Durbib, along with Lric Lewis Mary Sohn and Jean Villepique as Jack's fellow teachers.

Created and executive produced by Mike O'Brien (SNL) and executive produced also by Seth Meyers (Late Night) and Lorne Michaels (SNL).

A.P. Bio premiered in February with a sneak preview, then got a special ratings boosted showcase following the closing of the Winter Olympics. Last week's season finale pulled just 2.1 million total viewers with a 0.6 demo rating, but the overall numbers were probably enough for NBC to order a second season. The network says that A.P. Bio has "one of the most highly educated audiences" on broadcast TV, ranking third among adults 18-49 with four or more years in college. So sees kids, school really does matter.

Also on Tuesday, NBC has ordered to series two new comedies: Amy Poehler EP'd "I Feel Bad" and "Abby's."

The single camera I Feel Bad stars Sarayu Blue (No Tomorrow) as Emet, a most imperfect mom, boss, wife, friend and daughter. The logline says "She feels bad when she has a sexy dream about someone other than her husbad (played by Paul Adelstein), or when she pretends not to know her kids when they misbehave in pubic, or when she uses her staff to help solve personal problems. But that's OD, right? Nobody can have it all and it perfectly."

The multi-cam Abby's, stars Natalie Morales (Parks and Recreation, The Grinder and Powerless) as the titular owner of "the best bar in San Diego, home to good prices, great company and of course, Abby. This unlicensed, makeshift bar nestled in her backyard is the opposite of everything annoying about today's party scene. There are rules at Abby's: no cell phones- that een to "look something up"- and earning a seat at the bar takes time and losing a challenge means drinking a lime, sugary, "not-beer" drink. As the oddball cast of regulars (which includes Neil Flynn from The Middle) will tell you, hanging out at Abby's is a coveted honor. But once you're in, you're family. Josh Malmuth (New Girl) is the showrunner/writer/EP.

The two new comedies have joined the three new dramas, New Amsterdam, The Enemy Within and The Village on NBC's roster for the 2018-2019 TV season. You can catch the full lineup when it is unveiled at the NBC's upfront presentation on Monday.
