Guns and Politics: Chicago PD "What Could Have Been"

Guns and politics never go away. Here's a recap!

As Burgess waits for Blair, her boyfriend, for their date night, she waits so long that she has his cell phone pinned on his location, but by the time she gets there, he's dead. As the team investigates, we see Burgess hide her emotions for a guy she's been enjoying for a while but will end their relationship. That is until she learns that he was seriously planning on staying to be with her. Thinking that it's gotta be drugs or money thing that got Blair killed, there was another connection with another victim.

It didn't get good until the investigation started to turn toward Ray Price and his family. As Burgess dug more deeply and the team searched on Ray's daughter's social media, they found what is the evidence that ties this only thing up. Voight talks with Ray about the video of his daughter, but Ray doesn't want to say anything. As soon as he tries to tell Voight, Ray's wife comes in and tells him the entire thing that she had killed Blair and the other guy as they were blackmailing them to resign from the mayor race.
Voight gets Ray's confession and makes a deal with the AD for a seven-year sentence. In the end, Voight and Ray have one last drink in the holding cell, thinking about what would have happened if this hadn't happened. I know what happened: Chicago would have gotten a great mayor.

"What Could Have Been" might be one of the least enjoyable episodes of the season, and that's only in the first half of the episode, while the second half was very good with such a twist that shocked me. As much as I enjoyed the character of Burgess, this was one of my least favorite episodes of hers. Burgess was so out of character that I didn't believe what she was doing, let alone saying to everyone from the team to even Blair's sister. But the one thing we got out of this episode was Burgess and Ruzek working together.

But Wendell Pierce's performance was very good. It was his character's story that made me watch this until the end, even though it wasn't as great as his other performances in other shows. I still think it was a shocker that Ray's wife did the killing, as I didn't think any of Ray's family would have done it. Overall, I give this episode a 7.5/10.

Welcome to the Fight: Chicago PD "The Forgotten"

Image result for chicago pd the forgotten

Politics is such a dirty game, but will Voight be involved? Here's a recap!

"The Forgotten is another powerful episode that circles around Hank Voight and his relationship with a longtime C.I. that's been working since the days with Al. After doing one last job for Voight, Lexi, the CI, gets kidnapped. Voight and the team try to find her; but learn that the suspect that took Lexi is connected to a string of kidnapped stripers/dancers to torture and kill.

To makes things a lot worst; Kelton was involved in the previous investigations of these murders; plus kept it quiet because of getting a promotion for keeping crime down. After searching and finding their suspect, just as Voight was so close; the suspect gets killed by another detective that had no business being there.

After using the dead suspect's GPS on his car, they find a location where Lexi, but it was too late as she was dead. The death of Lexi, who was so close leaving the city to be with her ailing mother; hurt Voight and even give Ray Price inside information about Kelton to use in his campaign for mayor. OF course, Voight doesn't like to get into politics but after what just happened, all gloves are off.

This was another fine episode that had so much character development between Lexi and Voight, From learning how she helped saved his life to listening; to them talking about the good old days with Al. The episode really builds up and just when you thought she might still be alive. Ouch! It hurts. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

Blast from the Past: Chicago PD "Outrage"

Image result for Chicago PD "Outrage"

When a blast from the past comes back to Jay, did he do the un-ultimate thing? Here's a recap!

As an undercover gig goes a bust when Jay Halstead meets a blast from the past of a former suspect that kidnapped a girl, who they never have found. Not to mention that the guy has recently been released from jail and won some money from the city due to the fact that someone used abusive power.

With Voight and Intelligence team ordered to stand down, Jay makes a heavy case to investigate that guy for selling drugs. But as the drop was about to go down with Burgess and Ruzek pretending to be partners in the dealing, Jay's guy was not there to make the deal and was told where he was at; a warehouse. As Jay gets there, alone, he sees their suspect down in a pool of blood. Jay tries to help him and also get him to tell where he buried that girl, but instead laughed and died.

Halstead being questioned not only by Voight and his partner but also the investigating detective about what happened in that time when he went in that warehouse alone Jay stands his ground and fights back. Voight and the team found the real person of interest and things were back to normal with Halstead in a way. That is til Jay and Upton had drinks and got that look with one another that something could be there still and she leaves to be with Ruzek.

"Outrage" was a good episode. It was another intense episode for Jay Halstead and another that really puts the character is dangerous territory when it comes to a blast from the past. Good writing, good performances from the cast and Jesse Lee Soffer is amazing too. Overall, I give this episode a 8/10.

You can catch Chicago PD as they return tonight at 10/9c on NBC.

Cops and Politicians: Chicago PD "Trust"

The Intelligence Unit might be facing more than just a killer. Here's a recap!

"Trust" is what I would call the door to what we've been waiting for since the beginning of the season. The chance to see what the intelligence unit would face against the Chicago politics of it all that would end with some shocking moments.

When a well-known district attorney is killed, the intelligence unit investigates that divides to what Hank and the team learn that its a connection to a mayoral candidate. Hank and the team find their suspect but his connection to Mayor Candidate Brian Kelton and Kate Brennan too. But only to release him due to his help with Kelton.

Meanwhile, during a chase Atwater gets shot in the shoulder and thought that he was a goner but comes out okay. But we see another memorable moment with Trudy after Atwater is out surgery and doing well. But the moment Hank learns that the Kate is involved with the Mayor on this, it turns into a moment of doing her a favor like she has said at the beginning of the season.

It was an amazing and intense episode. I thought the story was good and even strong in the developments of the characters. There were many moments that I loved in this episode from the Kate and Hank moments, Antonio and Burgess to even Trudy and Atwater at the hospital, which was a Kleenex moment. It also has me concern as if something is gonna happen with Trudy down the season? We've had those moments with her. John C. McGinley was amazing and fits perfect to the character so far in Kelton. Anne Heche's performance was good as well. and her chemistry with Jason Beghe just gives me goosebumps. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch Chicago PD Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.

Loyalty: Chicago PD "Brotherhood"

Just when you thought that the fall finale would be the shocking moment. Think again! Here's a recap!

Picking up from the fall finale, Voight gets Antonio out of the warehouse as cops were coming. Voight tells Ruzek the plan that he wants to tell the backup team, but when they came Ruzek tells a different story and is now part of an investigation that not only gets Ruzek between Voight but also Upton as well.

Upton tries to get Ruzek to tell the truth because she doesn't want anything happening to him. But he believes that it's better it was him than Voight. But their conversation not only could be heard but Halstead heard it and breaks it up.

Not only does Ruzek have an investigation going, but during a carjacking investigation, he gets his C.I. to help and later learns that the leader happens to be the C.I.'s brother.

Voight gets word that if Ruzek changes his story to what really happen things would go smooth. Ruzek not only thinks about it but asked for advice from Trudy that really ended with one of the best and powerful scenes of the season.

As Ruzek is being questioned about his statement. we learn that he agreed that his statement was correct. While we see Voight visit with Antonio and told him the news about Ruzek.

"Brotherhood" was not only excellent but one of the best episodes of the season. Patrick Flueger gives one of his best performances of the season. The scenes with Jason Beghe, Tracey Spiridakos and Amy Morton were powerful and intense. The character development was strong and the writing was so good. How will Ruzek get out of this? Will his relationship with Upton be endanger? Is Halstead jealous about Upzek?

Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

Heart or Badge?: Chicago PD "Black & Blue"

Will Atwater put his heart before his badge when someone he falls in love with becomes a suspect in a murder investigation?  Here's a recap of this week's episode of Chicago PD.

"Black & Blue" was another marvelous episode that puts Atwater in a challenging situation that, if it went any other way, I would be okay with it. Trying to go a drug bust that turned into one of the kids selling the drugs ended up dead. When the intelligence gets a lead on their suspect, it also leads to a relationship that Atwater gets into.

Using her to get to their suspect, they found fingerprints of Atwater's friend that were connected to the murder. In troubled waters, Atwater decides to work a badge instead of his heart. But when the suspect that they are after is dead, the kid that he was chasing shoots him. Atwater's friend will take on the murder charges and possibly get out in three years. Atwater decides to help the kid who killed his boss and tossed the gun he used in the Chicago River.

It was another well-performed, intense character development episode, and it was one of the best Atwater episodes so far this season. I wouldn't be surprised if she's back three years from now and confronts Atwater. Overall, I give this episode an 8.7/ 10.

You can catch the fall finale of Chicago PD on Wednesday, December 5th, at 10/9c on NBC.

Painful Past: Chicago PD "True or False"

A case that will have the Intelligence shaking there heads leads to one detective's past coming out. Here's a recap of Chicago PD.

When the Intelligence comes to a murder of an Alderman's wife being beaten. Ruzek sees the suspect's car where it leads to one kid, who clearly tells them that he wasn't there. After Atwater to Voight interviewed the kid; it all leads to Hailey opening up to the kid about his past that they have something in common; coming from an abusive family. After he confessed, it turns out he wasn't the murderer.

When Hailey goes back to talk with him, he hung himself in his cell. It really affects her to the degree that Halstead drinks with her at her apartment. But as they try to get their suspect, they found him dead. Going through the suspect's phone records, it leads to one person...the Alderman. After going through more records, they see the whole picture that their victim was trying to leave her husband after being abused by him.

After updating Brennan about it, she gets the Alderman to meet with her. But he runs as soon as the Intelligence Unit chases him. As Hailey confronts the Alderman, she tries to reason with him but as he pulls a gun on her it's Ruzek that shoots him down as she was there frozen.

After talking with Voight about it, Hailey and Ruzek head back home where she tells him that what she told their first suspect was true.

"True or False" was literally one of the best episodes of the season. It was powerful with such strong character development as we see Hailey's dark past come to light. The case might have been a little bit predictable, but the double twist kept the episode interesting.  But it was Tracy Spridakos' performance was outstanding and it makes me love the character more and more. And it gave the fans an awkward moment when Halstead, Hailey, and Ruzek were in the same place together.

Overall, I give this episode an 8.9/10.

You can catch Chicago PD Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.

Shocking Reaction: Chicago PD "Bad Boys"

WHAT THE HELL?!!!

Well, that was my first thought when seeing the first scene of "Bad Boys." Upton and Ruzek a couple? That really doesn't make sense but I guess we can give it a try. I guess it was just more than just beers.

Anyway,  when the intelligence unit gets called when a teenage girl of a wealthy Chicagoan is kidnapped. The father is one of those pain in the ash that will give a cash reward on the whereabouts.
But a suspect's tip took them to a warehouse where the teenager is found. After she's at Med, she left pretty quickly, even the father wanted her back home. As they look for the suspect, they didn't know that the one they let go is involved with her .

They searched for the suspect's boss, but by the time they get there; their suspect already shot him and escapes. They use the teenager to show up, but it got into a complicated chase where it leads to children in the line of fire but Ruzek takes the shot of killing the suspect.

Voight arrested the teenager, for helping the suspect escape; but Brennan dropped the charges. She got a nice cash fund for her boss that's running for Mayor.  But Voight got something out of it when he asked Brennan to get Al free from all charges so his wife and daughter could get the benefits, which was in a sense tears of joy.

I thought the episode was a real shocker for mainly Upton and Ruzek hooking up.  I don't know how long this will go, but maybe Ruzek won't jump to concussion on asking for marriage. I always thought maybe Upton and Halstead would be the one hooking up. Even the emotional upset moment when she walks away would be the go to moment. But overall, I very much enjoyed the episode as it was a nice story that had a very nice twist.

Overall, I give this episode a 8.8/10.

You can catch Chicago PD Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
