As we left last week's episode, Kara gets attacked by some kind of mysterious plant and now she's in a fight for life as she's had to decided whether to stay in her fantasy or wake up.
Kara is unconscious by the mysterious plant known as the Black Mercy, as it puts her in a dreamlike state. That dream makes her feel that she's really in her home planet with her mother, father and even Clark as well. But the probably, the more she stays in the dream the more she'll think it's real.
After not showing up for work, Jimmy and Win call Alex and get to Kara's apartment where they find her on the floor. They go to the DEO and tries to take the plant off of her but if that happen it would kill her.
Trying to figure the plant, Alex ask Hank to help Kara out at work. Pretending to be Kara, he thought that working for Cat Grant would be simple...it wasn't it. But it turned into one of the best humorist moments of this episode. Hell, he'd rather be back in prison than working for her.
Throughout this episode, even though it was a well performance from the supporting cast, it's Chyler Leigh'a Alex Danvers that really shined. Trying to save her sister no matter what the cost it could have, she gets Maxwell to help build a device to get her into Alex's dream and get her to believe that what's she is seeing isn't real.
Alex enters Kara's dream and find her with her family on Krypton. She tries to tell Kara that she's dreaming and needs to wake up. Alex, who's arrested and is sent to the prison, fights for her life to get Kara to come to her senses. And she does and as Alex tries to grab her hand, she's wakes up and throws a fit to Hank that he brought her back but it wasn't. Kara wakes up and gets up looking at the Black Mercy with a look that you don't want to miss with her.
Kara learns that it was Non's idea. Winn figured out that Non and Astra used the plant to distract them while they use the satellites, mostly Maxwell's on the defense.
Kara goes after Non and kicks the crap out of him, but leaves but without a task for Kara to do with a a falling satellite. Meanwhile, Alex and Hank try stopping Astra, but the three fight. Astra was going to slash Hank's neck until Alex stabs her in the chest with a kryptonite sword.
Hank takes the fault for it, instead of Alex. He tells Alex that Kara looks up to her and that he doesn't want to ruin that for them. Which was a very sweet thing that Hank has done.
As for Non, after picking up Astra's body, sees that she's dead. He seeks revenge on her death.
At the end, Alex comes home and see Alex, Jimmy and Win cleaning up. She tells them that how important has been to have them around as her family. And it seems that Kara and Winn's friendship is intact.
This was a very good episode that not only did Melissa did a good job, but it was Leigh's performance that stole the entire episode. Fighting for her sister, as a big sister would do to save her little sister. Harewood and Melissa really had some good scenes, mostly with he filling in situation and helping Cat. It was good as last week's episode.
Overall, I give this episode a 8.5/10.
