Stranger Things Renewed For Season 4

Get ready for more Eleven, Will and the gang to take on more strange things, as Netflix as ordered a fourth season of it's hit nostalgia-filed 1980s thriller.

On Monday, a teaser video for Season four also confirms with what was widely suspected, coming out of this summer's run that with Will's family moved and some sorts of loose end dangled before us over in Russia, "We're not in Hawkins Anymore."

The hit series pick up comes as part of a new, multi-year deal with creators and showrunners, The Duffer Brothers, who will develop series and films for Netflix.

"The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with STranger Things and we're thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love, Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos said in a statement. "We can't wait to see what The Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of The Upside Down."

Here's a teaser:

Seasons one through three are available on Netflix now.

"What the Fork!" The Good Place "A Girl from Arizona, Pt. 1" Season Premiere

The season premiere of The Good Place was everything to the smell of donkey-butts to mouth-full of fleas. Here's a recap!!!

We pick up moments from the end of the season finale where Eleanor shows Chidi around The Good Place. There he's jumping with excitement, but Eleanor is a bit disappointed by losing her true love in this experiment. As Eleanor returns to Michael's office, everyone gives her a vote of confidence that this will work out for the best, even both Michael and Shawn gives them a pep talk, which was one of the highlights of the episode.

As Eleanor and Michael greet the next new residents, Linda, who happens to be a bore of the group that doesn't see any excitement of being in The Good Place. Not to mention, Brent, who thinks that everything is too PC in the world. The gang tries to connect with one another to find out what makes them tick; but it's not even coming close, not even Simone, who believes that not of this is real and acts like a total goofball.

Michael tries to convince Eleanor that it's time to use Chidi to help, mainly with Simone. As soon as Eleanor introduce Simone to Chidi, it didn't even work at all. So the next day, Eleanor and Michael get the flying seminar; but Linda wasn't too thrilled, not even flying a couple of inches off the ground. Eleanor and Michael try to bond with her favorite things but she's not bunging at all until she starts punching both of them in the nose and flies around ruining other's flying time.

In fact, Linda is not who we all thought she is as she's just a fraud in Shawn's scam to ruin the experiment. The judge learns and punishes him, by putting Chidi in the experiment. But she also threatens Shawn if there's a smell of his doing again that she'll take out his eyelids and make him watch soldiers coming home greeting their dogs.

As the train comes, Bad Janet comes to pick up the fake Linda. Michael tries to tell her to tell Shawn "booyah!"

Meanwhile, Jason gets jealous with Derek coming back and forth; seeing that he's trying to win her back with his dum affection. Trying to make truths to one another, Jason couldn't take it and murders Derek with his killswitch button; which didn't quite win over Janet as she's been dealing with a billion things to do.

"A Girl from Arizona, Pt. 1" was such a good episode;  there were some surprises that weren't huge but satisfying shocking.  And it was hilarious to watch the Judge go after Shawn for his antics once again. But I just loved how the characters between Eleanor and Michael were in this dynamic. You could see Eleanor trying to do two things at once as she's trying to make this experiment work but also keeping Chidi far far away from Simone as well.  Also Jason and Derek fighting over Janet was just a nice balance making the episode funny and crazy. Strong writing and character development. I just wish that this was an hour premiere instead of a half-hour. Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

You can catch The Good Place Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.

Sweet Reunion: Superstore "Cloud 9" Season Premiere

Superstore returns with a season premiere that was not the only hilarious but gave such a heartfelt reunion. Here's a recap!

The season premiere picks up with the Cloud 9 gang out having a vigil or Mateo after ICE detained him. A few months have past and Amy gives a staff meeting about how corporate wants to push the store into the digital age with a giant cleaning robot named Glen and many more.

As Amy gets Jonah to help program the robot; she deals with Cheyenne who hasn't visited Mateo since he was taken away. There are signs like stopping a customer from buying a hair product or taking down the cleaning robot; but Amy finally gets Cheyenne to go see Mateo, which was literally a tearful reunion as they talked about who wore what and all.

Meanwhile, as everyone has had it with the robot, Amy and the gang choose to give the corporate love pet an accident all on its own: fall off the roof of the store. But seconds later after falling off the roof, the robot gets back up and comes back into the store. REAL FREAKY!!!

"Cloud 9" was such a good season opener. While the humor was all there, I was literally taken away with the story of Amy and Cheyenne; as the performance from both Nicole Bloom and America Ferrera in this episode. The moment that Cheyenne and Mateo meet tears just started streaming down my face. The writing was so solid. Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

You can catch Superstore Thursdays at 8/7c on NBC.

Legacy of Remembrance: Chicago Fire "Sacred Grounds" Season Premiere

The season premiere of Chicago Fire left Firehouse 51 mourning a loss of their own. SPOILER ALERT! Here's a recap!

The season premiere episode picks up seconds after the season finale, where Casey and company are in the basement; Herrmann and Ritter are trying to cool the furnace pipes before they go, and Boden, Brett, and Foster are trying to take victims out until the furnace explodes. Boden, Brett, and Foster were taken down, with Brett suffering from a severely broken arm; Casey and Company seem to be okay until someone's alarm goes off, and it turns out to be Otis.

As everyone brings out Otis, Cruz goes with him and sees the severe burns that he's suffered. Back at Med, everyone awaited word about Otis until Boden confronted a nurse who gave the worst news: Otis died. But we see one of the most emotional moments so far, as Cruz tells Otis that it's okay to go and that he hopes he would save a spot for him, too, until Otis opens his eyes and speaks in Russian and quickly dies.

We jump three months later; the firehouse is still mourning the loss of Otis. Cruz is trying to find meaning and figure out what Otis said. Toasey is under review for the decision-making that got him worried. Still, Boden took the blame from him as he decided to bring Brett and Foster into the warehouse, but it was still not going to take the pain of losing a firefighter away.

Brett is now in Floweton; she's just got her cast off on her arm and gets the job as a full-time EMT at the local fire station. But there's an issue: being in a small town, she knows someone from her past who is married to one of the firefighters. The Chaplain offers her a solution of not working but working as the Chaplain's wife, who does work. I'm not seeing this last too long, as she will miss Chicago.
With Brett gone, Foster gets a floater like Mr. Rogers meets Clark Kent. Mouch sees the guy's photo in a magazine.

Near the end of the episode, Boden gets everyone from the firehouse outside, where he has an honorary memorial for Otis. He even translated what Otis said to Cruz just before he died. As soon as Cruz kneels in front of the statue, everyone from Casey and Severide do the same while holding each other's backs.

"Sacred Ground" was an episode that marks another shift change in the series. Not since the Season Three premiere has it been this powerful, and knowing that the outcome will be even more painful. The writing was so damn good, and even the character developments between Cruz and Casey were so good. I still hope that Brett will call off the engagement and move back to Chicago, maybe ask Casey out on a date, but I know that's way too much to ask for.  Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

You can catch Chicago Fire on Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

Shock value and Farewell: Chicago Med "Never Going Back to Normal" Season Premiere

Chicago Med returned with a season premiere that had shock value but also twists and even a farewell to remember. Be warned there will be spoilers! Here's a recap!

We pick off seconds from the season finale with Will waking up Natalie, who's suffering from a head injury, rushed to Med where we meet Dr. Marcel, who takes over Natalie's care. As Marcel works on Natalie; Will is taken but isn't being a good patient. But Philip gets there worried about Natalie and tells Marcel that Natalie is his fiance; even without the ring on her finger. More to come later.

Meanwhile, as everyone comes in, April and Ethan learn from a pregnancy test that she's not pregnant. But they take care of a young boy, who's suffering from losing his eyesight. After running some test they believe it's neurological and gets a consultant about it, which turns out to be a small tumor. It wasn't until Ethan goes over the history on his patient that it could be something else; which in fact it happened to be a hyperthyroid and the kid ended up not having surgery.

While covering overtime, Dr. Marcel teams up with Dr. Charles who takes on a patient who's suffering from schizophrenia. The issue comes down to explaining the seriousness of the illness to the patient's grandmother, who believes she can take care of him. Dr. Charles talks to the grandmother, who later comes to understanding. Also, even though Charles' honeymoon was postponed, it seems like it's still on after the day.

Maggie gets a biopsy; which soon proved that she's got breast cancer, but she's decided to take treatment at another hospital but wants to keep working. Goodwin disagrees with that idea.
As Conner tries to help with Will;  Atwater questions him about his father's death that seems to point to him, thanks to Ava. As Conner confronts Ava about the situation, Dr. Latham sees him being aggressive with her and soon a file of compliant was formed with the HR department. That was until Latham confronts both Ava and Conner about looking back at the logs to see who ordered the insulin. Soon, Ava and Conner talk and Ava admits to him that she did it but pulls one last trick, slicing her neck with a surgical knife. Ava dies on the table and that leads Conner to leave Med for good.

Conner confronts Latham about leaving and thanked him for everything but Latham also thanked Conner too. There was one more person that he thanked and that was Goodwin; who confronts him about leaving and the two gives a very heartfelt goodbye too.

As for Natalie, she'll be okay, even though she suffered a loss of memory about what had happened. Philip uses her injury to his advantage that they're engaged (that sick dude!).  Will believes that's probably what Natalie was going to tell him when she got in his car.

"Never Going Back to Normal" was a fantastic season opener that not only gave us some sad and shocking goodbyes but also a nice welcome to a new staff member. Dr. Marcel seems like a smooth doctor but I can't wait to see what he brings to this hospital. I sure believe Will will be suffering even more from this event and I'm guessing that Philip will be telling Natalie that it was all Will's fault. Seems like having a baby isn't out yet for Ethan and April. Kathy Baker gives a wonderful performance as the grandmother of the patient that's suffering from schizophrenia. Good strong writing with character development and even strong performances from Colin O'Donnell, Marlyne Barrett, and Norma Kuhling. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch Chicago Med Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC.

Bonding: Single Parents "Summer of Freedom" Season Premiere

In the season premiere of Single Parents, with the kids gone for summer camp, the parents try to have a fun time. Here's a recap!!

Picking up right at the end of the season finale, Will, Angie, and the gang realize that with the kids gone for the summer, they should throw a party for each of the summer months. But when Doug tries to ask Poppy out on a date, after Poppy thinks it is a disaster, it turns into Poppy and Doug not speaking for the summer. That is until she learns that Doug was suffering from a heart attack when she placed his hand on his on their date.

Meanwhile, Angie invested in emailing Graham's father, which ruined their plans between her and Will with their super fun summer plans. After Will doesn't have the fun and dum things that he had hoped with Angie, he turns away from his girlfriend to be with Angie, which leads to them singing "Cruel Summer" at a karaoke bar but also going to Doug's tiki hut party. Later, when the group bonded for one more moment of summer, Angie sent the email to Graham's dad, but they all forgot to pick up their kids, who were upset and realized that their parents couldn't do anything without them.

"Summer of Freedom" was a fun season premiere that had good character development moments, like Angie finally getting the courage to send her ex the email that she's been dreading all episodes, but also seeing her and Will having that fun planned adventure as well. It is also a perfect song choice for karaoke. Miggy was underused as only the bridge to Poppy and Doug's relationship guru. I hope we get to see Miggy shine more this season. But the enjoyment of Brad Garrett's character, Doug, keeps improving. The writing was good, as was the performance, which was very good coming from this ensemble cast. Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

You can catch Single Parents Wednesdays at 9:30/8:30 on ABC.

Too Close To Home: FBI "Little Egypt" Season Premiere

The season premiere of FBI has the agency facing a bombing that hits too close to home. Here's a recap! The

When a bombing of a restaurant hits close to home to O.A., it goes even more profound and even butting heads with the new FBI supervisor, Isobel Castille, on the issues of spreading the word that Muslim terrorists were the ones that had attacked.

After agreeing and getting the okay from Castille, O.A. tries to connect to one of the buyers, who cannot do what he's trying to do. But when he comes to visit the kid at home, the kid is no longer at home but at the park about to bomb Central Park. While Maggie stops the bomb, O.A. stops the kid and the suspect.

Meanwhile, in the episode, Kristen becomes a full agent of the FBI and gets a new partner, Agent Stuart Scola, as he helps Maggie and O.A. The two bond as unique partners, like Kristen learning that Scola did have an older brother who died on 9/11.

"Little Egypt" was an excellent episode that not only told a solid character development episode but pretty much added to what the feeling towards the characters would be this season. I very much enjoyed the tension between O.A. and Castille. But also nothing like a Law and order reunion between Sisto and Garza. I'm interested in where this season will take the characters and the stories that they'll be telling. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

The People We Meet: This Is Us "Strangers"

Image result for This Is Us Season 4 Episode 1

The season premiere of This Is Us might have us questions some of the characters; but the ending will explain it all with its classic twist. SPOILERS! Here's a recap!

After driving back from the audition, Rebecca and Jack not only had a wonderful time; but the two tells one another that they won't be calling each other right away. Later Jack calls Rebecca and asked for another date; having dinner with her parents and parents friends. While it seems to go well, Rebecca's dad isn't too impressed with Jack and thinks that he can find her a better boyfriend than him. Oh, how he thought so wrong.

Meanwhile, we meet three different new characters, One, Cassidy Sharp, a military officer trying to hunt down an enemy, but when things don't go the way it was planned; she takes it back with her home. After a couple of days, things aren't the same at home and it leads to her separating with her family and seeking counseling.

Second, Mailk, a young father who works with his father at an auto shop. With so much responsibility his father advised him to live his life. And thrid we meet Jack, a blind musician, who after having an accident at home meets a lovely waitress, who becomes an inspiration to his music as he wrote a song and not only becomes a hit artist but marries the waitress and expecting a baby.

Now for the twist, as we see the Pearson family (present-day) celebrating Kevin, Kate and Randell's birthday; we see Cassidy talk to her group when a chair is thrown breaking the window and we see Jack's brother. Kevin gets a call to help him bail out of jail. Mailk, who goes to a party, is cooking burgers and meets Deja and soon makes an impression to her as she comes back home; where Randall and company are living in Philly. And Jack is no other than Kate and Toby's son, who we learn of his blindness; but that's not going to stop Kate from loving him.

"Strangers" is a very good episode. It's at best not to overthink or just not think about what each character is all about because once I did that I had to rewatch over again. While the story between Rebecca and Jack was really good with a nice ending of Rebecca singing her love to Jack. The three new characters really stole the episode right out of the gate. Jennifer Morrison, Asante Blackk and Blake Stadnik are truely amazing; that bring that extra love, warmth, and mystery to the show. And not to mention that the song that Stadnik sings at the end should be considered for an Emmy.  Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch This Is Us Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

All Rise. "Pilot" Series Premiere

Image result for all rise cbs

The new CBS drama has a mixed bag of seriousness and humor that's likable.

All Rise premieres Monday night, and while it may not be original, it has its moments. Combining of shows between Boston Legal meets Judging Amy. All Rise tells stories of lawyers and the first day of the newly appointed Judge Lola Charmichael (played by Simone Missick), who deals with not only trying to have a good first day but also trying to make her mark.

Lola deals with her first trial case of a soon-to-be mother for a crime she believes she never did. Lola gives the prosecutor and the defendant, Emily Lopez (played by Jessica Camacho), a day to get their evidence in order. However, the defendant receives a tip about the evidence and even the testimony from the detective on the case.

Meanwhile, Mark Callan (played by Wilson Bethel) is a bit of a hotshot lawyer and a good friend to Lola, as they have a working relationship. Mark deals with not only a defendant who is a shoo-in of being guilty of the crime that he has committed. But a judge plays along with the defendant, representing himself, just to get back at Mark for that hit during their hockey game. It had the feel of Boston Legal all over it, which wasn't to say it was wrong or even excellent, but enjoyable with a few laughs.

While the pilot wasn't as strong, it was delightful, with good character development and even good performances, mainly between Missick and Camacho. I felt that in the pilot, Marg Helgenberger was underused and was the only one to give wisdom and advice to other characters, almost like when the FBI added Sela Ward in their first season. Is this series on my must-watch list? For now, no, but I want to give the show a fair shot to see where it will go. Overall, I give the episode a 7.9/10.

You can catch all the rise—Mondays at 9/8c on CBS.

Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, Late Night with Seth Meyers, NBC

I'm very much excited for tomorrow night. I know that Game of Thornes could take everything, including for best comedy too. But I really think that this year's Emmys will be so hard to see who's going home with a win. Could Julia Louis-Dreyfus win for Veep one last time? Will it be Chernobyl or When They See Us take all the awards? As much as I do think Game of Thrones will win Best  Drama, don't be surprised if This Is Us wins, I think they could be the dark horse that no one believes they could win it.

You can catch the 71st Primetime Emmys Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c on FOX.

ER: 25 Years Later Still a Classic

Image result for nbc er

It's hard to believe that it was on this date, September 19th that television not only had changed in the medical drama but in drama in general.

It's hard to believe that it was twenty-five years ago today that ER debuted as a two-hour movie pilot; soon would take off as one of the greatest television dramas of the '90s. It was written in 1974 as a feature film scripted by the late Michael Crichton on his experience during his medical student day. But it didn't see the light of day until Crichton and Steven Spielberg was putting it together. That was until Spielberg learned of Crichton's new project, Jurassic Park, that soon stopped the process of ER and worked putting Jurassic Park.

Later that someone from Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment thought that ER would be a great television series, but getting the show on television would be more of a challenge given the current television dramas at the time. The pilot of ER was passed by the major networks twice; until NBC gave them a shot. After getting the pilot made, NBC was not too pleased with what they saw. The stories being dropped without any proper ending, the graphics of blood and the procedures and let alone the medical jargon. They didn't think the audiences would ever understand.

Well, they were proven wrong. After not only did Warner Bros. tested the pilot and learned that it tested high for any pilot; NBC did their own testing and even tested higher than the previous testing. They placed the two-hour pilot on Monday night and later made their stamp on Thursday nights and became Must See TV with Friends, Seinfeld, Frasier, and Caroline in the City.

Crichton wanted to make a real medical drama that didn't dumb down to the audience and give too many uplifting moments. Life in the ER whether it was from a doctor's perspective or the patient's perspective is always dealing with life and death decisions that will always never go the way you had thought it would. It was real and authentic was what he wanted to bring and the audience responded quickly.

Image result for nbc er

And not to mention the ensemble casting that, probably only to Friends, were highly popular and recognizable. From Anthony Edwards, George Clooney, Sherry Stringfield, Noah Wyle, Eriq La Salle. And Julianna Margulies, who by the way was supposed to have died in the pilot; but she tested so well that they wanted her back on the show because of not how great she was, but her chemistry between her character and Clooney's character was. It wasn't just all Ross and Rachael that stole everyone's hearts in the '90s; it was Carol and Doug as well.

After the pilot had aired, ER ran for 15 seasons on Thursday nights from 1994 to 2009. Before DVRs and streaming services; you had to watch shows live as they happen or even tape it on your VHS. My how things have changed since those days. In 2018, the show took a resurgence when Hulu got the rights to stream all 15 seasons of the series; which was about damn time; but I got my DVDs so I'm pretty good. Since ER debut there have been shows like House and Chicago Med that carry that gene.

I was five-years-old when ER premiered; I'd watched it with my grandmother and mother. I knew when I heard the opening intro to the series I knew ER was on. I might have had some nightmares, like when Dr. Greene got attacked in season three. ER was literally one of the reasons why I love television so much; from the character-driven stories and the connection to the characters; and not to mention the high action senses that come from time to time on the show. I highly recommend watching or rewatching the pilot episode; the medical terms might be outdated, but the stories hold up so good.

You can catch the complete series of ER on Hulu, iTunes, and Google Play. You can catch ER on Pop TV Wednesdays and Thursdays at 4/3c.

Superstore "Cloud 9.0" Season Premiere Perview

Just a week away till the anticipated season premiere of Superstore. Here's a preview.

"Cloud 9.0"

In the season five premiere, Amy tries to help her employees cope with Mateo's ICE detention and with the new introduction of a new robot co-worker that makes them fear they could be replaced.

Photos:

After the events of the season four finale and the multiple of tissues used, I literally can't wait to see where this season will be going. How will Mateo still be apart of the Cloud 9 family? Will Amy feel guilty of what happened to Mateo? Will Jonah and Amy find common ground in their relationship? Speaking of relationship, will Dana forgive Garrett for letting her birds go and die? Probably not, but there should be some kind of closure there soon.

You can catch the season premiere of Superstore Thursday, Sept. 26 at 8/7c on NBC.

Fresh Off The Boat "Help Unwanted?" Season Six Premiere Preview

fresh-off-the-boat-episode-601-help-unwanted-season-premiere-promotional-photo-17

Fresh Off The Boat is back! Here's a preview of the season six premiere!

"Help Unwanted?"

In the season six premiere, after Brandi Chastain scores the World Cup-winning goal against China and rips off her jersey to celebrate, Evan gets his first case of "the tingles," and now Louis and Eddie must team up to give him the talk. Meanwhile, Jessica and Honey are learning what it means to be best friends, and we learn a whole lot more about Marvin's family.

I'm sure excited for a new season of Fresh Off The Boat, even though I did think that the Season Five finale served up a good finale to the series. I just wonder how fans of the show will react to the new series after Constance Wu's rant, but that won't have any effect for me to stop watching the series. She thought that the series was gonna be canceled and had other projects inline, I totally understand that.

You can catch the season premiere of Fresh Off The Boat Friday, Sept.27th at 8:30/7:30c on ABC.

Single Parents Season 1

Image result for single parents abc

It was one of the best new comedies of 2018-2019. If you haven't seen Single Parents, why not?

Single Parents are mainly "Friends" with kids who are funny, brilliant, and have a lot of heart. The premise is about a group of single parents who see a newly single parent named Will and how he's so invested in being a part of his daughter's life during the first day of school. They soon decide to help him.

Like Will (played by Taran Killman), there are other single parents like Angie (played by Leighton Meester), a single mother with a needy kid; Douglas (played by Brad Garrett), an older single father with identical twin girls who put himself first and them to work, Poppy (Kimmie Lewis) a single mother with a son and Miggy (Jake Choi) a young father with a baby. Each character shows their struggles and strengths in their parenting.

While the jokes seem juvenile, they fit the characters in the embarrassing parent jokes. Both Killman and Meester work so well together with their chemistry. Brad Garrett shines in this series as it shines in this series, which I've had a hard time with since the end of Raymond. And not to mention, the kids on the show are a total delight to watch, especially the twins, as they could be like Mary-Kate and Ashely Olsen meet the twins from The Shinning.

I was never really into the series from the start; the promos and trailers didn't sell it to me. But during the middle of the first season, I jumped in and watched the first couple of episodes, and even though the pilot was a bit weak, it got better and better with its writing and character development. Overall, I give the first season an 8/10.

You can catch the first season of Single Parents on Hulu. The second season premieres Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 9:30/8:30c on ABC.

From the promos and trailers, this series has a strong premise that I'm very much looking forward to. I'm not reading a whole lot from other critics about this series so it could be a sleeper hit this season.

You can catch the premiere of Sunnyside Thursday, Sept. 26th at 9:30/8:30c on NBC.
