Tension In The Family: Chicago PD "New Normal" Season Premiere
With Voight being benched, tensions grow on the team to find the seller of harmful drugs in the season premiere of Chicago PD.
The
"New Normal" picks off a few days after Al's death and killing murderers. When Voight gets a call of an overdosed kid at a park, he gets confronted by the commander, who tells him that he's suspended due to the investigation of that shooting.
When Voight tells the intelligence team about it, it puts tension between Antonio and Ruzek throughout the episode as they try to find the dirty dope. With Antonio's good cop ways and leading the team, it's slowing the process where more and more kids are dying. It leads Ruzek to ask Voight for help, which he does.
After arresting a suspect, he wouldn't speak to Halstead and Antonio. Voight threatens the suspect to tell them where the dope is, or he'll burn the money. After he does, Ruzek tells Antonio, and after making multiple arrests, the tension between Adam and Antonio tops the cap, and the two fight.
Antonio visits Voight at the bar to confront them about what had happened. Voight tells him that all he was trying to do was help them get the lousy dope off the street. Voight explains to Antonio that he needs him on the team; he's good at being the good, clean cop. And after that, Voight met with the commander again and talked.
After Voight's suspension was lifted after finding the video of him making a clean shoot and exchange gets Al's pension to his wife and daughter. Voight tells the team that we need to stick together as a team and as a family.
Soon, we get to Al's funeral, and Al's widow doesn't want Voight there. So, as the intelligence team carries Al's casket to the hearse, we see everyone, including Voight, salute one last time to our beloved Al.
This fantastic season opener tells us what we are in for for the season. I feel we will see more tension in Mortensen's intelligence team. The writing was strong, and the performance from the cast was terrific. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

Changes Is On The Way: Chicago Med "Be My Better Half" Season Premiere
The season premiere of Chicago Med gave us answers, drama, emotions, and some shocking surprises.
The episode picks up after the season finale with Reese seeing Charles on his knees while her dad is on the floor having a heart attack. Quickly, Charles tells Reese what he knows, and they take the CPD to her father's warehouse, where he has kept evidence of his killings. Reese leaves after Charles apologizes.
A few days later, Reese was a no-show during morning rounds, and Charles wondered where she could be if she were okay. She comes in last, still mad, and tells Charles that she has decided to leave Med and complete her residency at another hospital.
Did Natalie give her answers to Will after he popped the question? Well, she did give him a solution, and it was yes, even though it took about a week to provide him with the answer. Will is excited and tries to plan everything, but Natalie wants a small wedding.
Well, with wedding plans in the works, Natalie and Will treated a man who's been deaf since he was a kid and came in after getting sick. His fiance believes that it was the ear plants that he had put in, but it doesn't look like it. When the test results came back, they informed him that he had usher syndrome, which is genetics, and that he would also lose sight.
Upset at first, he didn't want his fiance to know about it, but she did anyway because she loved him and cared for him. And even though she was against the eye plant device, she went along with it so that two of them could be their eyes and ears.
Rhodes and Ava share some moments throughout the episode, one being that maybe he should stay and work out with this relationship. After treating a man whose heart's aorta, I tried to save him but failed and wrote up a proposal that the ED should have a surgical room. At first, it didn't go through, thanks to the new COO, Gwen Garrett, who didn't think it suited her agenda for Med. But the proposal was passed thanks to an unknown donor, Rhodes' father, thanks to Ava. It might have fixed the surgical problem, but it might be costing Sharon to see the proper side of Gwen.
Choi tries to talk with April about his sister. She's been going to AA meetings and getting help. Emily apologizes to April, and it seems that things are lightly forgiven. That is until Emily comes into the ED sick and learns she's pregnant. It didn't go well with Choi, and after talking with April, it might be best to help her through it.
After Reese left, Charles didn't have a good day, from writing down his notes, which I believe were his thoughts on the whole Reese and her father thing. To even going at it with a med student who sedated a patient who was a bit wild and crazy. But later, he meets with Reese's father, who's in prison, and tells him that Reese is gone and won't be seeing him again. After he gives Charles a crappy speech, Charles comes up to him and tells him that he'll ask his doctor to adjust the anti-depressants, which is probably for the best.
"Be My Better Half" was a fantastic season opener. This episode had some shocking moments, mainly that Sarah Reese is leaving Med. Rachel DiPillo was one of my favorite actresses on the show. She's a robust and innocent person who embraces learning the human condition. And her and Dr. Charles's mentor and mentee relationship was one of the best in this series. But I understand that it was a storyline thing.
I enjoyed the emotional side and humorist moments of #Manstead in this episode, from them treating the usher syndrome patient, which had some heartbreaking but uplifting moments. But watching Will bug Natalie about the wedding stuff repeatedly was like, "damn, I didn't think men care about this stuff!" But he wants a big wedding, let's have a big wedding.
I think the Ava and Conner relationship will grow slowly this season. I would like them to be together, but she's a bit of a mystery to me with her seeing Conner's dad as the donor of the new surgical room in the ED. And I think that Ethan and Choi are back together thanks to Emily, who helped break them up in the season finale.
Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
You can catch Chicago Med next Wednesday in the epic One Chicago Crossover event, beginning with Fire at 8/7c, Med at 9/8c, and PD at 10/9c on NBC.

A Second Chances: This Is Us "Nine Bucks" Season Premiere
The season premiere of This Is Us left us with joy and tearful moments but the end left us shocked.
It's Kate, Kevin and Randall's 38th birthday, while they celebrate it they're dealing more than getting ready for a party. With Kate, she tells Toby that she wants to try to have another baby. After getting negative results and sees a specialist, who runs some test on her and Toby. The specialist concluded that it wouldn't be good with her condition of weight and all, plus Toby's depression too.
Kate takes it very hard and when she with her friends for a birthday lunch. Toby tries to cheer her up and tells her that they are other ways of having children. But a call back from the specialist informs them that they want to try and help them have a baby. With Kate overjoy, Toby decides to stop taking his anti-depressants.
Kevin and Zoe begins their spicy relationship and Beth has a feeling that they are together. Beth promises Randall that she swear on Oprah that she wouldn't get into those two, but she did. Beth is trying to protect Kevin from Zoe, who doesn't have the best track record on relationships. But I think they're gonna take it easy.
In the meantime, Randall takes Deja out to his father's apartment building, and tells her that Beth and him would like to fully adopt her. But for that to happen she has to give her full agreement. Later she leaves the house to see her father, who works at a shop . She confronts him and tells him the almost same speech that Randall gave to his father and than asked for one thing. When Deja came back home, Randall was mad until she gave him his birthday gift, a pair of running shoes and tells him that she's all in for them to adopted her.
As for Jack and Rebecca, we come in on the night of the unbelievable Steelers game and Jack meets Rebecca for the first time. After Rebecca sings the two talked and went out to a carnival, where Jack spends $7 out of his $9. But when it started to rain, both Rebecca and Jack were stuck with nothing to do. As Jack drives her home, he opens up to her about why he wouldn't buy an umbrella for her. The two at first didn't have a connection but when she leaves her sweater in his truck, that's a sign that she wants to see him again.
But when he drives back to Rebecca but as he gets there, he sees someone else at her front door and kisses her. A total shocker, but to add even more we more forward into the future with Randall and Tess get ready. Randall calls an aged Toby, who's alone in bed, to get him to come along too.
"Nine Bucks" was a strong season opener that dived so well into the this season. From Randall and Deja to Kate and Toby and not to mention Jack and Rebecca were such strong and emotional storylines. Yeah, it got me to grab the tissues early on but it also shocked me at the end of this episode.
I did enjoy the moments between Beth, Kevin and Zoe whether it's Beth swearing on Oprah to Randall not to confront to two about it, but she did. Plus the Kevin is Batman comment was hilarious and still has me laughing.
I can't wait to see what's gonna happen this season. I think that what we are looking at with the future scene that maybe Beth and Kate might have died and Randall wants everyone to be together. And even though it was a shock, it shouldn't since there has to be some drama with Jack and Rebecca. Jack couldn't get her just like that, but we kind of wish he would.
Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
You can catch This Is Us Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

Superstore Season 3 Recap
We're just a week away til the season four premiere of Superstore. A lot has happened in season three, so let's recap.
After dealing with a tornado aftermath, the store was on a rebuild but Glenn mistaking the date for the reopening. Getting things ready from putting stocking shelves to panting some of the aisle looking like they were full. But soon a few weeks later on Halloween, the staff found the body of Sal that was inside the wall of the store after the tornado.
Season 3 dived into some issues from health care to bullying to even trying to make it on social media. But when Glenn deiced to he and his wife want to have a baby, they ask one of the employees to be the surrogate, which Dina takes on. Meanwhile, the relationship between Mateo and Jeff have gone from one fighting for their love to the other at the end of the season. Jeff leaving Cloud 9 to work at Target, that happens to be not his job, but soon gets his job back at Cloud 9 and tries to make the store better.
But the Amy and Jonah relationship was the key this season, from kissing during the season 2 finale to Jonah being in a relationship with a new employee, Kelly. But when their feelings finally came out but they still got their separate ways, until one Amy is pregnant (which she says it's her ex-husband's) and two they had sex in front of live cameras that are viewed around the world to see for a town hall meeting.
Season 3 of Superstore was solid with it's brilliant in it's writing and ensemble cast performing from mainly their repartee with each other between Amy and Dina to Cheyenne and Mateo and Dina and Glenn and Dina, Amy and Jonah.
I think that Season 4 will explore more into Amy and Jonah's relationship. I still think that Jonah might be the father of Amy's baby. I think that Jeff and Mateo will get back together. But mainly I just can't wait to see the show back.
You can catch the season premiere of Superstore Thursday, Oct. 4th at 8/7c on NBC.
