Mind Think Different: Chicago Med "Playing By My Rules"

Will this be the end of #Manstead? Will Dr. Rhodes face the new rules for the hybrid OR? Here's a recap of this week's Chicago Med.

With Will facing pressure to stop treating Ray, instead of taking it out on them, he takes his anger against Natalie and their patients. He is trying to get Will to let his patient go so they can override the consent for his daughter to donate her organs, but he doesn't want to do it. But when Goodwin and the board decided to let the father go. Thinking that this could be the end of Manstead, as Will is up on the roof, Natalie joins him and asks if he wants the ring back. Instead of saying yes, he tells her he wants to marry her, and the two hug with emotion.

Rhodes gets word from Goodwin that the hybrid OR will be used for other surgeries. That news doesn't sit well with him, and it builds increasingly more of a battle with Lanik. After taking the OR back, Rhodes performs a dangerous operation that pisses Lanik, but in the end, the patient comes out okay. But when Goodwin heard of what happened with Rhodes, she told him that she was the one who authorized it, not Garrett. But she threatened him that if he ever did that again, she would fire him. That did turn Ava on and got her and Rhodes kissed in the prep room.

Maggie and April butted heads because of their way of managing the ED. With Maggie being Rhodes' top OR nurse, things have been relatively smooth without her when April takes over. After confronting, the two made up.

Ethan and Charles take on a case of the week when a veteran comes in with Vicki. The patient comes with a horrible head wound that's caused by itching. She tells Ethan that she can't stop itching, and it worsens.   But when Neurosurgeon sees her, he thinks that she needs surgery. But Charles doesn't think so and teaches Ethan how the mind can play horrible tricks on you. After leading the trick of playing with the mind, Ethan agrees that their patient doesn't need surgery and gets her to do a test. After looking in the mirror and scratching the other side of her head, her itching was about gone. Will it help in the long term? We'll have to wait and see.

"Playing By My Rules" was another fantastic episode. There were many intense and emotional moments in this episode, from Natalie and Will butting heads on their patients to Rhodes going rouge against Lanik again and Goodwin in his ED OR. The case of the week with Ethan and Charles was a strong story that kept the episode interesting as it went on. Here I was, thinking it was a bug. And there were moments of WOW! from Rhodes and Ava kissing to Natalie and Will staying together. But Ethan decides to ask Vicki out, with April viewing it too. Ouch! Drama, right?

Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch the fall finale of Chicago Med on Wednesday, December 5th, at 8/7c on NBC.

Life Moments: This Is Us "Sometimes"

Last night's episode of This Is Us was just another reason why this show is at it's best.

"Sometimes" was another amazing episode; with such strong character development and moments that didn't make the story too loud or soft. Whether it's Jack trying to get his brother to come to his army base; but he doesn't want to nor does his Sargent. Or Jack and Rebecca taking a trip to LA and having a good time. But when they had their own thing with Rebecca going to a record company and Jack talking to a former falling soldier's family I think that they didn't expect what they would be facing and that things happen sometimes for a reason.

But the Kevin and Zoe story was probably the silent story stealer of the episode. When Kevin and Zoe head to Vietnam, Zoe tells Kevin not to tag her on social media because of her father being around and wants to reconnect with her. After Kevin sees that the necklace might have been bought at a shop; but really it had a long journey as we can see it. After Zoe gets sick (probably from eating a dish that had bat), she tells Kevin the real reason why she doesn't want to meet with her dad, because he sexually abused her as a child. And soon the two really connected with their relationship.

I was amazed at this episode from start to finish like other episodes of the show. But watching the character of Jack going through a lot of things from the war to traveling with Rebecca was an emotional ride with some much good fun too. But Zoe's story was really powerful and Melanie Liburd gives a strong and stunning performance.  Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch This Is Us Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

"Played By My Rules"

Dr. Charles struggles to convince Dr. Choi that surgery isn't always the answer. Dr. Rohodes finds himself in hot water with Goodwin when he disobeys her direct order. April becomes frustrated with Maggie when she continues to question her leadership role as the stand-in charge nurse. And Dr. Manning suspects Dr. Halstead is keeping something from her.

I'm thinking that with what Dr. Choi went through last week that needs an operation probably chemical burns or something. Rhodes might be pissed off at Goodwin from learning last week about his dad being the money donor for his hybrid OR. And for once can Will tell Natalie what is going on. It's literally freaking killing me that he's not telling her what's really going on.

You can catch Chicago Med Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC.

Grievance in Pain: Chicago Fire "What Will Define You"

Image result for chicago fire what will define you

As preparation for Benny's funeral is underway, the hunt is on for one of his most priceless medals. Here's a recap of the Chicago Fire.

As Severide and his mother pack up Benny's things, they try to find one of Benny's most priceless medals that he wants to have in his casket. Stella takes the challenge as she's trying to help him. Getting Casey, Mouch, Hermann, and Otis to help her, they meet with all of Benny's ex-girlfriends, which keeps the show light and humorful. They even meet with Katie's mother but with no luck either.
But when Katie visited. she brought joy to everyone at 51 when she brought the medal they were searching for. Even she and Otis catch up and are happy with who they are within their relationship department.

Severide has been trying to get his dad the proper send-off. With the CFD not signing for a parade on his behalf, Boden tries to get some of the guys who knew Benny to do something special. Severide, who's in pain, hides his emotions. After talking with his mother, things settled things down until the funeral. Severide gives his speech by telling a funny story to a heroic tale. There were times to laugh and hard not to get teary. But when walking the casket out of the church, a parade of firefighters lined up from the four corners of the street and gave one hell of a proper send-off that would make you grab the tissues.

"What Will Define You" was one of this season's most decisive episodes. They balanced the episode perfectly with humor and emotions. Even bringing Katie was a real treat. I couldn't believe how long it had been. With what was happening with Stella and Kelly, Brett had an excellent storyline in this episode, too, trying to figure out if she should report the driver using a cell phone in an accident. As much as I enjoyed that, too, it seemed to be an underachiever. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch Chicago Fire on Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

BFFs with Different Styles: Fresh Off The Boat "Mo' Chinese Mo' Problems"

When Jessica and Louis learn that there's another Chinese couple. But will they be friends with them for long? Here's a recap.

As Evan is doing a census on the neighborhood, he gets a surprise of his life and rushes to tell Jessica and Louis about it.  Learning of another Chinese couple living in their neighborhood; they stalked them to figure out how to greet them in the best friendly way. After greeting them, they hang out and soon became the best of friends.

They bonded with them so well that Louis gets into football and Jessica changes her mind about brunch. She even calls her friend the Chinese Oprah as she calls herself her Chinese Gayle. She even gets parenting advice from her too.

But with all the enjoyments of them, they seem to find a loophole. Jessica learns that their son is a cab driver who still lives with them even if he did go to Harvard on a full scholarship in arts.  But Jessica wasn't too pleased with her son and she leaves on different terms. Later they forgave when Jessica comes up with an idea of her friend's son to fix the painting at the school and became BFFs again.

Louis, on the other hand, gets jealous when his friend becomes friends with Marvin. After talking about football the two started talking about sausages and even leading to making their own together. Louis confronts them about it and learns that Marvin was jealous of him thinking that he was going to leave him hanging. And they three become the BFFs too.

Evan gets played when his brothers try to use his census to hunt for a pool to use. But he gives them a lesson they would never forget; even have them do the walk of shame in a way too.

"Mo' Chinese Mo" Problems" was a hilarious episode. Even with the hype of the news of the guest stars in this episode, it was still worth watching. Ming-Na Wen and Reggie Lee are amazing and I hope they would come back from time to time as they really click with one another. The writing was strong as was the character development too. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch Fresh Off the Boat Fridays at 8/7c on ABC.
