America Ferrera's Returns to Superstore

Looks like America Ferrera isn't done with Superstore just yet. 

TVLine has exclusively confirm that Ferrera, who previously announced her departure from the NBC's No. 1 comedy was delayed due to COVID-19, has signed on to appear in not one, but two Season six episodes. She will be in the milestone 100th episode, which will now double as Ferrera's swan song. 

The nes comes as Superstore works to incorporate the ongoing coronavirus pandemic into Amy's farewell storyline. 

Co-showrunners Jonahtan Green and Gabe Miller tells TVLine, "We're lucky enough to have America back for our first two episodes of the season. There was so much we wanted to explore with COIVD and how it changes the world of Cloud 9 that we decided to focus on that iin the premiere, with Amy starting her new job remotely while still trying to mange the store.

"The second episode will cover Amy's last day at Cloud 9, so we can fully give her the sendoff she deserves," the continued. "It's also Superstore's 100th episode, so we're excited that America will be celebrating that milestone with us."

Green and Miller tells TVline that for Season Six COVID theme that the premiere will pick up where season five's cliffhanger left off, as the virus delays Amy and Jonah's move to Califorina. Expect time jumps within the episode early int he months of the pandemic soon catching up to where they leave off in the present time. They'll show how all of the characters are handling the new COVID envoriment. 

While we knew that America was going to come back the finish her storyline, I'm super excited for it anyway. It would be so weird to leave things the way they left it and move on from there. It would have been unfitting. Also, I can't wait to see how the Cloud 9 gang deals with he COVID-19 situation. Throughtout the summer when I had to shop I always had a wonder of what would Dana, Glenn or Jonah do in this situation. We'll find out soon.

Superstore premieres in Thursday, October 22 at 8/7c on NBC.

 

ABC Release Premiere Dates on Returning Fall Shows

It looks like ABC has the doctors seeing you this November.

On Thursday, ABC has now lifted the curtain on its later fall plan which includes the launches of the new seasons of Grey's Anatomy, The Good Doctor, Station 19, and other returning dramas.

The Rookie will premiere at a later in the season. Stumptown, which was renewed for the second season, got canceled this week.

"Ou fall schedule is now complete with a dynamic lineup o new and returning drama series," ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said in a statement. "From an-favorite shows like Grey's Anatomy and The Good Doctor to David E.Kelly's thrilling new drama Big Sky, our strength is in our storytelling, and we could not be more energized to bring these compelling series to our viewers."

Big Sky is the only ABC new drama for the fall, a thriller n which private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt )Kylie Bunbury and Ryan Phillippe) join forces with his ex-cop strange wife, Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick), to search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. But when they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.

Well, it looks like ABC is set for their returning dramas and one new drama. I think we can all pretty much rest aside that we finally know that we are getting our shows back this late fall.

Heart and Soul: Station 19 Season 1 Review

This summer, I had the chance to catch several shows I'd missed out on. One of them happens to be ABC's Station 19, the spinoff to Grey's Anatomy. Here are my thoughts on the first season.

Chicago Fire Cast New Paramedic for Season 9

Looks like Chicago Fire has found Emily Foster's replacement!

Deadline is reporting that Adriyan Rae (Vagrant Queen) will be joining the NBC drama as a series regular for Season Nine. Raw will fill the ambo 61 paramedic spot that was left by the departure of Annie Ilonzeh's character, who won't be returning to the series.

Rae's Ginna Mackey is described as "a loveable troublemaker with a twinkle in her eye." Coming from a working-class family, she is welcoming to all, but don't be mistaking her for a pushover. "She's tough and quick to defend the defenseless...and rolls with the punches while approaching everything with a bit of wry humor."

This coming off the weekend with the Chicago PD departure of Lisseth Chavez, who played officer Vanessa Rojas. While a couple of weeks ago, Fire's own Daniel Kyri, who plays firefighter Ritter, was promoted to full-time status for season nine.

Also, Chicago Med looks to begin production starting September 22; while Fire and PD will begin around October.

I'm s looking forward to what she brings to the table for the Firehouse 51 team. I had thought that maybe Kidd would be filling or Foster at the beginning of season nine.

A.P. Bio Season 3 Review

The third season of A.P. Bio premiered this month, and the new season looks better than ever.

The eight-episode season three comedy series dives into more wacky and crazy stuff than the previous two seasons. From Helen being part of Jack's student to Ralph dealing without having Helen as his crime partner, that's just the first episode.

The season pushes the characters not only with hilarious moments but heart-warming ones. Jack, who's trying to record a video for a university to get out of Toledo, backfires and realizes that he's better off in Toledo with the students and friends.

One episode that I believe might be the season's highlight is episode three, and the first ten minutes of the episode are just catching up to what is just ten minutes of the episode. It might seem dumb to read it and go, "What?" but trust me, once you see it, it's pretty hilarious as it's like making fun of the steaming services previously on this show.

The season finale, of course, didn't disappoint as it dives into the celebration of Katie Holme's day. That's the day they celebrated when she got the part of Joey Porter on Dawson's Creek. I don't think I should say anything more after that.

I very much enjoyed the third season of A.P. Bio. While the second season was good, this season was much better. There was strong writing and character development this season. I can't stress enough the chemistry between Paula Pell and Patton Oswalt, as they're one of the best comedic duos on television.

I highly recommend taking a look at the new season of A.P. Bio. Overall, I give this season a 9/10.

Another Departure for #OneChicago

Well, add another OneChicago castmember that is saying goodbye.

TVLine has confirmed on Saturday that Chicago PD's Lisseth Chavez, who played Intelligencenit rookie Vanessa Rojas, will not be returning as a series regular for the upcoming eighth season. That being said, she won't be away from the TV screens for too long as Chavez is coming aboard to The CW's Legends of Tomorrow as a full-time cast member.

Chavez joined Chicago PD in the second episode of the seventh season as an undercover cop who was then recruited by Sergeant Voihgt to become a member of his team. While being a part of the unit, Rojas had a bond (and sometimes flirtation) with officer Kevin Atwar. TVLine has learned that there will be some new cast additions that will fill the void left by Rojas' departure.

Chavez isn't the only member to be leaving the One Chicago family as Chicago Fire's co-star Annie Ilonzeh won't be back as a regular for season nine. On the other side, Fire's Daniel Kyri, who plays firefighter Ritter, has been promoted to full-time status for season nine.

This past season both Fire, PD and Med had cut their season short due to the coronavirus pandemic. The shows are scheduled to start production this month and are slated to make their season premiere Wednesday, Nov. 11.

This news comes to as shocking. I thought that Chicago PD would be the show that would be keeping their cast intact as this marks PD's fourth departure in a row starting with Sophia Bush, Elias Koteas, and Jon Seda.

Well, I wish Lisseth Chavez the best on Legends of Tomorrow and thank her for bringing such an awesome character as Vanessa Rojas to life in the One Chicago family.

Spending Time with Friends: Happy Endings: The Complete Series

Back before the whole pandemic hit, I had bought the complete series of Happy Endings on DVD to check out to see if all the hype about the show was real. After carefully "binge-watching" the whole thing, I've come to say this..... Here are my thoughts!

The series' premise is as simple as possible: It's about six best friends who get into real dysfunctional adventures in Chicago, Illinois.

You got overachiever businessman Brad (played by Damon Waynes, Jr.) along with his neurotic perfectionist wife Jane (played by Eliza Coupe) as they are crazy in love with each other; aloalsowith Jane's silly little sister Alex (played by Elisha Cuthbert), who's a happy-go-lucky boutique owner.

Then you got Dave (played by Zachary Knighton), a daydreamer and an aspiring restaurateur and food truck owner. The slicker manchild is Max (played by Adam Pally), who can't hold both a job and a relationship, and the outgoing party girl, Penny (played by Casey Wilson), who is searching for Mr. Right.
The premise starts when the wedding of Alex and Dave ends.  Alex becomes a bride because she isn't ready for marriage. The group reunites with Ale, X returning and trying to preserve their friendship as Alex and Dave decide to stay friends.

After the series dropped the whole Alex and DaDaveroken engagement arc in the first season, the series focused on the group dynamic of the six best friends.

After watching all three seasons of the series, I very much enjoyed it. These characters kept me wanting to see more and more of what wacky stuff they'll be going on in the next episode.

While the first season had some ups and downs, the series found itself during that season's end. The second and third got a whole lot better with some fantastic episodes like "Secrets and Limos," "Spooky Endings," "The Kerkovich Way," "Party of Six," and "The Marry Prankster," just to name a few.

While the so-called "series finale" ended at Jane's older sister's wedding and Alex and Dave broke up for their second time dating each other, I thought it ended well with the six characters still at each other's hips having fun as life will move on.

It's still a head-scratcher why ABC decided not to let this series continue. It's like a recent decision that the network made about a previous comedy getting canceled (Single Parents). ABC must still want quantity over quality shows, which hasn't helped them in recent years.

While Happy Endings isn't in my top five best comedies of all time, it's a good enough show for me to pop an episode in and get something that I know will be very funny.

Overall, I give the series an 8.5/10.
