Always There for You: This Is Us "The Graduates"

This week's episode of This Is Us had moments of joyous occasion to heartbreaking moments. But there was a WTF moment that really upset me and it's not what you would think. Here's a recap!

It's Kate's graduation and everyone is looking to give her a celebration from Toby to even Rebecca. But on her happy occasion, she worries about someone, Kevin, who tries to hide his drinking once again. After Kevin "left to meet with a director," Kate went to see him and gets him to go to a meeting. More to come later.

During the episode, we see flashback the day of the big three's graduations. We see Rebecca shopping for a good camcorder for the kids' graduation and bumps into an old friend that asked her out for coffee. Too soon dude! Too soon! As soon as she gets to Randall's graduation, Rebecca has a panic attack and gets advice that she needs to talk about it with a grief group and after dropping Kevin and Randall at the party and being alone at home, she calls Miguel to help her drive to the grief group.

As Kevin and Randall looking forward to it, Kate wasn't because it's she thinks people will judge her after her father just died four months ago or Kevin leaving with Sophie to New York City to be an actor. After skipping graduation, Kate watches family videos and seemed to got her second wind and went to a party that Kevin and Randall and they discuss how this could be the last time they see each other but really we know it's not.

Meanwhile, in the present, we see Randall and Beth trying to make things work with Beth's new job. Later Randall gets a call from Dejia and drivers over there but seeing her walking down the street halfway from the school, she tells him the reason why she was so upset. Her teacher had assigned an essay and that it was so good that she posted on the online school paper without her permission.

As Randall talked to her, he learns that Deja is all caught up and could easily go to high school next year. But Deja doesn't want to do that because she's finally comfortable where she is at and wants to go at her own pace, which I think we could all understand after seeing what she's gone through.

As Beth comes home, Randall tells her the news about Deja and had a solution to their problem: Beth should take a break while he works. WTF! I know that he didn't just say that! I literally had to rewind that twice. But before they could talk, Randall gets a call from Rebecca about Kate.

As Kate helps Kevin, she flashbacks to the moments of how Kevin has always been there for her and that it's time for her to be there for him. She drives him to a meeting, but by the time they almost get there, Kate goes into labor and things take a real overwhelming moment. As the doctor stops Kate's labor, for now, Kevin comes in to comfort her again, and soon Randall pops in as well as they are all together like they say they would on that graduation night.

"The Graduates" was a good episode from start to finish. I just loved the story between Kate and Kevin as it was one of those that you can see how close they were as kids to now. But also I just loved how the tables turn between each other for helping one another. Also, Rebecca's story was as ever strong but overwhelming with heartbreak to joy as she still struggles but seeks help thanks to Miguel. As much as Randall upset me in this episode with Beth, he did have some good moments from standing up for Deja about her essay being shared to understanding her on moving to high school. But that ending scene with the big three was a tearful moment. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

Her Experience: Brooklyn Nine-Nine "He Said, She Said"

Last week's episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine was not only a powerful episode, but it was also the best episode of the season. Here's a recap!

When Amy and Jake take on an assault case of a man inappropriately touching a woman in a workplace, it turns into a classic case of he said, she said of what happened. But when the victim gets an offer of $2 million dollars, Amy talks her out of it and let them pursue the case. As Amy and Jake interview their colleagues at work, it seemed that everyone was taking the guy's side.

The case was a baffling one for Amy as it really hit close to work for her when she told Jake her experience of her when she was at another percent. But Amy and Jake get a tip from one of the colleagues that broke the case and arrested the guy for assault.  As the case was closed, Amy talks with the lady and learn that she was moving to start a fresh start.

"He Said, She Said" was such a powerful and well-performed episode of the season so far. The show showed that it can take a serious matter from the Me Too movement and put their spin and make it work so well. Melissa Fumero gives her strongest and best performance of the season by far and not only should be the winner for the "performance of the week" but get a nomination at the Emmys. The character development of Amy was not only funny in the Brooklyn Nne-Nine way but overwhelming and moving. And not to mention, this episode marks the directorial debut of Stephanie Beatriz, who did a fabulous job with this episode. Overall, I give this episode a 9.5/10.

"Let Me Save You This Time" Supergirl "Suspicious Minds"

With Kara not working for the DEO, that doesn't mean she's not gonna stop her from doing her one job: saving people. But when an attack occurs at a military ship, Col. Haley dismisses her from the scene and advise not to investigate. But behind her back, Alex and Kara try to find what caused the deaths of the military officers.

Alex and Kara get help from J'onn and looking forward to what is known as shimmers that can attack while being invisible. As they got a lead; they learn that these shimmers were experimented for testing. As Kara tries to talk to one of them, it kills itself instead. But one of them makes it to the DEO and with everyone using extreme measures like using real guns. As it seemed that they were losing the battle; Col. Haley gets cornered by one of them and is almost attacked til Supergirl shows up and saves her.

Haley gives her somewhat of a thank you, learned Supergirl's identity and demands to follow her orders til Alex knocks her out. J'onn comes in and tries to take out the interest of who Supergirl is. That is until they found a way; J'onn wipes everyone's memory of who's Supergirl; from colleagues who care to yes even Alex.Alex explains to Kara in one simple way "Let me save you this time."

Meanwhile, Brainy takes out Nia to dinner and in a first date proposal way, he asked her if she would want to join and help with Supergirl.

"Suspicious Minds" was a fine and interest episode. The one funny and happy moment was from Brainy and Nia date; to Kara and J'onn investigating at his PI office. But mostly everything else was very intense to say from mostly Haley and Alex's standoffs on what's right and wrong for the DEO and Haley's search for the identity of Supergirl. That quote "let me save you this time," has been stuck in my head and shed some tears. Not only was it heartbreaking but it seemed like another game changer for the show once again. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

You can catch Supergirl Sundays at 8/7c on The CW.
