Around the Dinner Table: This Is Us "Storybook Love"

Image result for this is us storybook love

Sometimes things don't always work out but they can be the most memorable. Here's a recap.

While Kevin tries his best with Cassidy and her husband, he learns that Cassidy's husband still loves her; but wants her before going into the army. Kevin and Nicky get to have a bond moment that involves what each of their fathers did with them, cut a slice of ice cream in the box.

Randall and Beth deal with Tess, who suffered from a panic attack. Randall tries to help her by telling how he handles it, but she doesn't want to listen to him. Beth remembers to what William told her about how he felt bad passing the panic attacks to Randall and remembered a relief that he used that she too used on Randall and Tess. And Tess tells Randall and Beth what had happened a week or so ago.

Kate is trying to figure out what the gift that Kevin and Randall got her. Thinking that it was Rebecca coming, turns out to be a blast from the past the piano that Rebecca had at their new home after Jack died. Under the seat happen to be music sheets with photos of them during that dinner and talked about Kate's boyfriend/boss.
As Rebecca and Kate move to a new home where they decide to through a dinner party for the two newlyweds Kevin and Sophie. But the dinner doesn't go so well and Rebecca took a stand and finally yells at both Kate, Kevin, and Randall to act up and enjoy the uncooked hens. After Rebecca talks about how she and Jack in their first home tried to make the perfect dinner; but it just went completely wrong but it was perfect because it was memorable.

"Storybook Love" was another excellent episode with strong character development and performances from the cast. Mandy Moore gives a standout performance during the dinner scene with the kids and Miguel. Nicky and Kevin's story was so good, but it was the end where Nicky asked Kevin about to have a slice of icebox ice cream. I do kind of wonder where this thing with Kevin and Cassidy will go, but I think he's to serve a purpose to help with her marriage. Randall/Beth/Tess was another powerful story and that method that William gave Beth is something that I might want to try. Strong writing and plot. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch This Is Us Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

Young and Help: Superstore "Mall Closing"/"Self-Care"

Image result for superstore mall closing

"Mall Closing"

With the mall closing, Cloud 9 feels they can take on the teenagers that could come and make a profit, but instead, it backfires and turns Cloud 9 from a shopping store to a hangout place. Amy sees her daughter is hanging out around the store along with her friends and tries to make things better for her. Dina don't like the whole teens and tries to get them out. Cheyenne gets broken by the teenagers and Sandra becomes an idol like figure.

Meanwhile, with Mateo having a hard time finding a job and making money, Jonah tries to give him money while making him bet against him. From betting on if Cher won one Grammy or not to Garrett making a shot; Mateo loses both times until when Jonah gets him to flip a coin. After two tries Mateo won back his money but Jonah, who's a gambling addict, tries to prove that Mateo's method was wrong.

"Mall Closing" was a pretty good episode. It wasn't an episode that had me winning over as the best episode of the season. The Mateo/Jonah/Garrett story was good and won me over, Amy and her daughter story didn't stick too well. Overall, I give this episode a 7/10.

"Self-Care"

As Amy has been working overtime, Jonah and Cheyenne try to give her a self-care day, but things go haywire. From having the health inspector to come early and Jonah signing off on an inappropriate display for hot sauce, Amy, Jonah, and Cheyenne try their best to fix everything while the inspector checked out the store.

Meanwhile, Mateo gets a job working for the store's optometrist but instead of selling glasses; he's given advice and forced to help him with marriage issues. After talking with Garrett and making a comment about his beard is to cover his no chin, he tells his boss to face his wife himself.
Dina tries to get Glenn to eat healthy after he learned that he's diabetic. From eating kale and throwing away broiled chicken; Glenn tries to help Dina with her father issues as it seems she's using this on Glenn.

"Self-Care" was a very good episode and a bit better than the previous one. The story plots were good from Jonah and Cheyenne helping Amy with her tiredness; to helping Amy to get things down with the health inspector. I enjoyed the Dina and Glenn story as it was so good and tied with Mateo/Garrett's moment too. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

FOLES!!!! The Good Place "Chapter 44: Employee of the Bearimy"

Image result for the good place employee of the bearimy

While Michael and Jason rescue Janet, can Eleanor and Tahani handle the Good Place by themselves? Here's a recap!

As Michael and Jason rescue Janet from the Bad Place; Janet learns the plan as Vicky tries to do her Michael impression in the Michael suit. There Michael and Jason while making it to the Bad Place bonded and soon interrupted Shawn's evil con type of meeting. Michael comes out pretending to be Vicky and brings in Jason pretending to be Glen. Soon, Shawn brings Janet out and the two to torchers Janet till she realizes that they were the real Michael and Jason. Vicky soon comes out and proves to them that she's really her, but Michael uses the demon blower and not only blew up Vicky and the three ran off while the rest of the people cheered with delight.

Meanwhile, Eleanor and Tahani handle things at the good place given everyone an earth day celebration, with their group taking on a nice lake house vacation. But when using Derek things don't go so well. While all wasn't lost, even trying to get Chidi to the lake house by given him mystery clues to play, it worked out in the end. Eleanor and Tahani bonded, as Tahani felt she isn't given a whole lot to do besides given parties and all.

In the end, as Michael, Janet, and Jason escape from the Bad Place and headed back to The Good Place; Michael admits to Janet that it was hard being back after all that he's been through. Just as Jason tells Janet about the horrible things Bad Janet told him, mainly about Blake Bortles getting cut; but Janet tells him that was real but the Jags got Nick Foles, who Jason is excited until she tells him he's injured.

"Employee of the Bearimy" was another very good episode. I loved how they mixed the characters up with Michael and Jason and Eleanor and Tahani; that they really haven't seen a whole lot of bonding together. Plus I do agree that Tahani had a lot more to do in this episode than the previous, but that scene with Eleanor at the end made it so memorable. But I couldn't get enough of Jason and Michael as the two really connected on a level, unlike any time.  The writing was very good along with the character development and the performances from the cast. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch The Good Place Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.

Love and War: Superstore "Testimonials"/"Forced Hire"

Image result for superstore testimonials

"Testimonials"

Amy tries to get everyone to tell Mateo's lawyer only the good things; but some of the things that they say about him are from other events and even movies. Amy tries her best and when Jeff comes to help; the only thing that could help with Mateo's case is that he can testify on record that corporate called ICE to stop a union dispute. Even though Jeff was against it, after seeing a photo of him and Mateo he decided to do it.

Meanwhile, Sandra is excited about her bridal shower; but Dana, who's supposed to set it all up, isn't given her a surprise party. When Jonah sees what's going on he decides to help give Sandra something special to remember, even if it's in the storage room. After seeing the hidden party, Dana finally goes against the internet and gives Sandra her party that ended up being Mateo's welcome home party too.

"Testimonials" was a very good episode with hilarious moments and even a moment that made me tear up. With the cast given a solid performance, the writing was as good as the plot and character development. I think overall the moment was when Sandra gave Mateo a huge hug. In my mind, I think that kind of represented not only the character happy to have Mateo but all of us fans that really got me teared up. Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.

"Forced Hire"

When Amy hired Colleen to the store; Dana isn't too pleased and tries to get Garrett to do something mean to her. But when he plants fish in her locker, it didn't go so well. Later on, Colleen confronts Garrett about the fish and soon the two kinda hit it off in a way and decided to go on a date. When Dana learns about it, Amy steps in and tells her that it was all part of the plan to later dump her at dinner. But as Amy finds out someone from another store got hurt, she offers them Colleen to them; which they took and made Dana even happier.

Meanwhile, Jonah must convince Marcus and his crew to join the union. But Marcus gets him to do a hangout session from sitting in his car to shooting hoops. Jonah had about had it with Marcus and decides to talk to his crew by himself. Even though the talk didn't go so well, he did get them to agree on the union thing after jugging a gallon of the ranch.

Also, Glenn and Cheyenne try to help Mateo feel better by asking for his help at work, but it goes a bit too far and upsets everyone. Just as they were about to tell Mateo; he tells them that he knows that everyone was just trying to make him feel better.

"Forced Hire" was a good episode with some hit and miss but it was a good episode all around. The Colleen/Dana/Garrett story was so good along with the Glenn/Mateo/Cheyenne as well. They were funny and solid plot stories. But it's Jonah and Marcus that was okay but didn't have all that of what the other stories had. Enjoyable? Yes but forgettable too. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.

Take a Chance: This Is Us "Flip a Coin"

Image result for This Is Us flip a coin

Sometimes the way to face fear is to flip a coin and go for it.

"Flip a Coin" was another well written and well-performed episode so far this season. The episode deals with our characters dealing with issues whether it's Kate and Toby trying to figure out if Jack is ready for baby music class, Kevin dealing with the cancellation of The Manny; also trying to help Cassidey, who's dealing with a possible divorce with her husband, and Nicky, who's mobile home is leaking again.

We jump to see when Randall and Rebecca first met Beth's mother at college. While she may not have thought that Randall was strong enough for Beth, he has proven her wrong. Even more when she sees how he helps with the family during Beth's dance class crises. Rebecca learns a bit from Beth's mother about moving on and after dancing with Kate decides to move out of the depressing apartment.

This was just another good and powerful episode. The ensemble cast gives a solid performance. It was moving and even at times had those good awkward moments as well that you know felt real. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.

You can catch This Is Us Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
